Flamethrower (Transformers/cryptid)

A/N: Okay, I am just going to warn you. Most of you probably do not want to read this. Especially those of you that are Transformers fans because of the fact that a lot of this is made up and there is a chance that some of this would not be possible because of canon reasons. This character is in the Transformer's universe but is not necessarily a Transformer. Also, the concept is super corny and cheesy. To put it simply, I am bull crapping my way through it. However, for those of you willing to take the plunge I will explain how the inspiration for this came to me at the end of this mess.

"Remember to count..."

"Listen for the creaks..."

"If you've seen the teeth it's already too late...."

Name: Atheexis (E-th-a-sis)

Nicknames: Flamethrower

Gender: Female

Age: old enough to be considered ancient

Species: Kanqrux (Can-crux)

Date of birth: unknown

Appearance: Friesian Horse

Backstory: The species which Flamethrower is from has been known to copy the appearance of the resident species of the planet to blend into the surroundings. Preferably a species that is not very intelligent or has particular patterns of behavior that can be copied. The species is very old and has evolved to not waste the energy needed to hunt and catch food, instead luring in its prey. They are born into their normal appearance, but after a certain age steal the appearance of an animal and use it as a form of deception. Only on their own planet is this species its true self in appearance. Though the real form is unknown, this species gives clues to it even in their animal appearance. No matter what form this species takes their hide is always made of organic material that is as hard as earthly metals, but is flexible to allow the creature to move and grow. Under that though is what appears to be flesh, it appears to be mostly muscles with very thin and small bones. The weird thing about these thin bones is each is connected to certain muscles as if when the muscles move the bones settle wherever the muscles they are connected to are. Which means that the muscles and bones are in a completely different spot in the form the creature was born in, suggesting that both the bones and the muscles could serve completely different functions depending on what form the creature is in.

This particular individual, born with the name of Atheexis was exiled from her planet and landed on Earth around the 1700s. At least, that's when the earliest documented cases that can be confirmed began to appear. It appears that she takes great joy in terrifying humans. She mostly feeds at night and is active around the country, where neighbors (and help) are few and far between. She has been known to eat humans and appears to prefer them. She sneaks into barns or pastures at the dead of night and waits. At first appearance she seems like a normal horse and can easily blend in with other farm animals, but if you get too close you might get a nasty surprise. She appears like a horse until she opens her mouth, in place of horse teeth are mini shark teeth which are so small they can't be seen until you are close enough to be bitten. Let's just say if you are close enough to see the teeth, pray your death will be quick. To avoid this death never go outside if there is the odd sound of creaking off in the distance or near the house. If you absolutely must though, make sure to count the animals before you enter, or else you might be next. She should leave by the time the sun comes up.

Her nickname "Flamethrower" came from a particular incident involving teenagers and a torch. According to the teens involved they were at a sleepover and were planning on sleeping in tents surrounding a fire pit. They were sitting in lawn chairs and roasting marshmallows when one of them mentioned that there was an old barn on the property. The three of them decided to check it out, they were going to need light so to avoid waking the parents they got a rather large stick and made a makeshift torch. After putting the remainder of the fire out they all headed to the barn. They said that the barn hadn't been used in years and that they weren't expecting to find anything. When they opened the barn door the building appeared to be empty. Until they spotted movement in a stall almost in the very back of the building. They thought it was odd as there wasn't any equipment or even hay..just the horse. Curious they moved closer and sure enough there was a large black horse in the stall. They said it let out a nicker in greeting as if it didn't realize that a lone horse in a barn without anything else in it wasn't normal. Nevertheless they all pondered who this horse belonged to and why it was here. What they didn't realize is that the horse had pushed the stall door (which wasn't locked apparently) open and was walking towards them. They turned around and let out various noises of surprise as they realized that the horse that was in the stall a second ago was right behind them. That is when one of the teens made the mistake of reaching out to try and pet the horse, in response the horse tried to bite the hand which accidentally revealed the sharp teeth inside its mouth. The teens screamed and ran for their lives while the horse chased them. At this point they told me that the horse was growling and making a sound that was a mix of a roar and a high pitched scream. They said that the horse's eyes also went from a gentle brown to that of a solid red with no pupil. On the way out they dropped the torch accidentally and the whole barn went up in flames. The teens burst out the exit and quickly shut the door behind them, hoping to trap the creature inside. They held the door shut while the creature banged itself against it, still roaring and screaming, in an attempt to break itself out. Once the noises stopped they ran off to the nearby trees and soon after the whole building was on fire and the teens sighed in relief, believing they had killed it.

However, this relief was short lived as something moved within the flames and the teens watched in horror as out of the flaming barn came the horse. The creature appeared to be engulfed in flames, but didn't seem to mind as it looked around and put its head up as if sniffing the air. They watched in horror as the creature appeared to catch their scent and began moving in their direction, at a run. The teens had no choice but to run for home as fast as they could. They ran through the woods blindly as the sound of thundering hooves followed as well as the sound of cackling flames as the forest seemed to light up like the sun all around them. They tell me that one of them tripped at some point causing the other two to stop. While the other two helped the fallen one up they all looked back and to their horror they could see the horse quite clearly because of the flame's light. The horse was only a few feet from them, they all got up and continued running. One of them looked back and claims that the horse opened its mouth and fire was coming out of it. Luckily for them this creature was not used to chasing and had to give up after a while. According to the teens the horse just suddenly ran away from them, back towards the barn. Once they got home their parents were already up because of the apparent forest fire and the teens didn't get to explain themselves until the next morning as they had to evacuate in case the flames burned the house down.

Whether or not the story is credible it spread quickly and people began to refer to this carnivorous horse as the "Flamethower." This nickname quickly turned her into an urban legend and what people call a cryptid. When those Transformers came to Earth it was theorized that one of them was the inspiration for the legend, the only problem being that they were much too big and turned into vehicles not animals. The similarities popped up regardless though, both them and the creature tried to mimic something to blend in with their surroundings. They both seemed to be sentient enough to make complex decisions on their own and are not of this world. That is when people began to suspect that she was indeed real, but was an alien. Just not a transformer.

A/N again (I am sorry): Are any of you still here? If you are please say I in the comments or something. I am curious as to how many of you made it! XD

Anyways, my inspiration for this. So, I was doing my normal morning routine and was in the shower. Well, my brain began to wander and I began to think, particularly about Predacons. According to DarkerStars Predacons are what inspired dragons and griffins. So, I thought what other kinds of cryptids and urban legends were inspired by them. The first thing that popped into my head was a selkie which is a Scottish spirit that looks like a horse and if you get on it you can't get off and it drowns you. Well, I thought Siren (DarkerStars's OC, sorry to throw her into this) could probably inspire a kelpie. I first thought of Flamethrower's design and I always wanted her to be a large black horse with flames coming out of her eyes and nose. Sort of like Carter Slade's horse from
the first Ghost Rider movie. I was at first going to have her be a Cybertronian that found her way to earth and decided that she had way too much fun playing with humans and decided to stay. I thought surely there were mythical creatures that were horses that could work.

When I got out I could not find anything other then a kelpie that resembled a horse, so I decided to make my own cryptid and that's when the shark teeth came in. I quickly realized there were a few flaws to my original plan as even transformed there is no way a Cybertronian would be small enough to pull off a barnyard animal so I had to make her a different species. And I also couldn't make Flamethrower her actual name because it sounds too Cybertronian so I made it her nickname. And that is how Flamethrower was born!

But of course while I was still in the shower my brain would not let go the comedic potential of cryptids and urban legends being inspired by Cybertronians or perhaps other alien species. Like, imagine what Cybertronian inspired the mothman! Or the Jersey Devil!

I am not saying that all cryptids and urban legends are inspired by Cybertronians, but it is quite interesting to think of the ones that could be. Though there are a few that I think would be downright impossible to link back to a Cybertronian. Like Slenderman for example, I think it would be quite impossible for that to be inspired by a Cybertronian as he is too small and what Cybertronian would wear a tux!? If you want to prove me wrong, go ahead just make sure to tag me! Or the rake, even though it would explain why the rake seems to hunt for fun instead of for food.

That is all for now though, sorry this is so long! I blame the quarantine!
