PERSONALITY
- there was not a time where marina stronghold hadn't been clueless. she was extremely bright in areas like education, but marina was otherwise wasn't a very good observer. nor was she very creative and everyone who knew her found her quite boring. it's not that she was in fact dull and uninteresting, she just never found the time to enjoy the little things in her life. due to what people were always saying about her marina tended to be quite self-conscious and insecure. the need to be perfect and prove people wrong became a habit for her, pushing herself to be more care-free and exciting despite people's beliefs. she took her head out of the books and spent more time out with her "friends", but she wasn't really happy. then over the summer, all her friends invited her to go to florida for a vacation. it was hard considering she originally lived in philadelphia, but she made it work and drove all the way. one of her stops was mystic falls and after stopping she never left. being there taught her to stop caring what people thought and to just be herself, after what she's been through. she became happier and even more self-aware to the extreme. now, instead of being boring and dull she was boring yet full of life.

- damon ( they don't exactly always see eye on eye on things and aren't the best of friends, but they do find common ground and he's mostly the one to unwind marina. the first time they met she absolutely hated him, but he's changed and she can say that she's quiet proud. he finds her to be the annoying little sister that he never had, but he'd do anything for her and she the same for him )

- klaus mikaelson ( when he was taking possession of alaric's body, marina wanted nothing but to find out how to kill him with bonnie. but he was oddly more nicer to her and caroline than he was with anyone else, and when klaus returned back to his original body marina joined stefan and him when they left. mainly because he blackmailed her and she had to trust that stefan would be alright, only way to find that out was to go with them. her only purpose that was served was to calm down the werewolves with a little heart spell that slowed down the heartbeat. it was when they were in chicago klaus and marina seemed to find common ground and she didn't hate to be in his presence. overtime, she continued to deny her feelings for him until season 4. she left with him to new orleans )

OTHER
- marina is actually a bit powerful when it comes to magic, but she tends to just stick to the side. attention wasn't one thing she liked most in the world

- her pride and joy was her leather jacket, a gift from her father who passed away when she was 16. he always dreamt of his daughter being like him ( carefree and adventurous ) and though he was hoping to see that side of her come out, he was diagnosed with stage four cancer. he gave her that leather jacket for when she would need it, when she finally let go in life
