Meris The Vagabond And Variks The Woodland Beast
Meris gives himself a variety of titles, some he has earned some he has given himself. However, his main one is Vagabond, meaning he is a traveler with no place to call home and no real job. Because of this, he does not care for such things like a home or gold. Why would he pay for a room and food at a tavern when he could hunt and cook his own food and on top of that get just as good sleep outside on the dirt as in a tavern. He cares little for society and it's rules and is known for beating up captain of the guard to keep them from messing with him.

Meris's beginning:
Meris was born in the wilds from a mother who was on the run, he never knew why but learned quickly how to defend himself, at the age of six he realized his mother was on the run and that was why he couldn't meet anyone, so he simply ran away. Most kids would die attempting something like this but at this time his luck saved him more times than he could ever recall. He found a city and did simple things there for about two years, building up some money by begging or simply doing small tasks, like delivering something of questionable interest as one would not question a child. Later on, he learned there wasn't quite enough in that place and moved on at eight, in the next city he learned there were many opportunities but saw even they dried up quickly, until the age of sixteen until he had his first monster contract for the Woodland Beast.
Variks is a rather simple creature at first glance acting on a whim and doing as he pleases but to ones who truly know the beast gears are always turning in their head. Their species are known for hunting humans, but it is not a hunt but a search to find the one that can rival them, for every beast of his kind there is a human that can temper them and help them also grow, however they do not know until after a fight, where the beast must come with killing intent, and if it is not the person they seek....they have a meal at least.

Variks beginning:
Variks was a beast born and abandoned, he had no mother, fortunately, his kind never needed sustenance given by the mother, eating solid foods at birth. He was more cunning than his brothers and sisters that died within the first week. He learned to hunt and made the forest his, He then began his hunt for the human that could temper him, killing many humans who lived nearby then one day he detected someone in his forest.
Their Story together:
Meris trudged through the forest cursing under his breath making sure to not make mistakes while hunting this beast but little did he know there were eyes on his back as Variks stalked his prey, this is the creature's eyes would be an easy and quick meal. When Meris bent over to investigate the tracks Variks had left a while ago he lunged. All would have been well for Variks and bad for Meris if a wind did not come and push Meris over at the last second. Making Variks lose his target. Scrambling across the dirt Variks turned to his hunter snarling. Meris rose his shield and kept his eyes on the beast, grinning the Vagabond rushed the beast using his shield to protect himself. Variks was quick however and leaped atop the shield slashing at Meris's face drawing blood immediately and giving Meris his noticeable scar. Variks did not come out unscathed, however. Meris had managed to cut deep into his left flank, the sword had been much sharper than the beast could have imagined, he had underestimated this human. The two did battle until both were bloody and beaten. Meris taking a knee leaned on his sword panting heavily, he wouldn't be able to live for long, he didn't know the place. Now he would pay the price. Variks was In rougher shape. the beast could barely move, much less fight to get a meal and heal. At that moment it clicked for the both of them. Meris slowly got his bearings and helped the beast up now. giving each other support they began their first hunt together and there were many more for this duo in the future, now both stick together only trusting the other to have their back.
