🎶 The Song (Vithia) 🎶

Song - Be Alright (Dean Lewis)

~~~~~~~~~Third Person POV~~~~~~~~~
It was another day at high school. The final bell had just rang, and everyone was walking out of their classrooms. Cynthia Riverton waited outside the school, waiting inside her car to pick up a few of her friends. She twirled around a strand of her long platinum blonde hair, her like green eyes looking around as she prayed the sun wouldn't burn her pale skin, which would result in her gaining more freckles than she already had.
She had finished high school about two years ago, but a bunch of her friends had now reached senior year. Back in school she was never able to make friends, nor was it a priority, so when the employees of the Strawberry Cafe let her join their clique, she volunteered to be their driver from school to work.
Right now, Sage, Noah, Ben, and Gia were all in the car, but one more was waiting. They had been waiting for ten minutes now, and Cynthia was starting to get frustrated.
Letting out a groan, she turned to face the others. "Ben, where the hell is Victor?"
"How should I know?" Ben looked up from his phone, eyebrow raised. "You think he has a tracker or something?"
"I heard Lola say he was looking for something in the music room." Sage replied, throwing a berry into her mouth.
Not wanting to wait anymore, Cynthia left the car and stormed into the school, glare as sharp as a knife. If there was one thing she needed to work on, it was her patience, because that tended to run out very easily and she'd get mad quite often.
"I swear to Hell, when I catch him-"
Eventually reaching the clubroom hallway, the soft melody than exited one of the rooms made her stop, her shoulders relaxing and her expression becoming more gentle. It was a calming tune, almost like a ballad, and it brought peace to her being.
She became curious.
Opening the door a little more, her eyes grew wide at the sight.
Victor Reynolds, the one she searched for, was sitting on one of the chairs holding a guitar in his hands. He was a boy who had just turned nineteen, finishing his senior year. Unfortunately he had been held back a year due to personal issues, but he was a brilliant man nonetheless.
Half of his hair was shaved, and the rest was all swiped to the side and dyed an ombre effect of several blues. His skin was heavily tanned, with freckles all over his face and shoulders, eyes a warm brown.
If Cynthia had to describe him with one world, it would be 'Irritating'. He wasn't bad, he wasn't stupid, he wasn't a jerk, he was just unlike anyone she had met before. Most people she met tended to be intimated by her; if her being a 6'2 girl wasn't enough, her cold glare did little to help. Those who didn't avoid her would be cruel for no reason.
What made Victor different was that he wasn't afraid to butt heads against Cynthia. Whenever she tried to intimate him, he'd fight back, he'd argue, he'd rebel.
It was frustrating, yet at the same time, it was refreshing to have someone treat you like a normal human.
What she didn't expect was what she heard. She was well informed Victor has always had a deep love for music, but she had never heard him sing before.
Especially not a song like this..
...
I look up from the ground to see your sad and teary eyes..
You look away from me and I see
there's something you're trying to hide..
And I reach for your hand but it's cold, you pull away again..
And I wonder what's on your mind...
And then you say to me you made a dumb mistake..
You start to tremble and your voice begins to break..
You say the cigarettes on the counter weren't your friend's,
they were my mate's,
and I feel the color draining from my face...
And my friend said:
I know you love her, but it's over, mate...
It doesn't matter, put the phone away..!
It's never easy to walk away,
let her gooo..!
It'll be alright...
So I asked to look back at all the messages you'd sent...
And I know it wasn't right, but it was fucking with my head...
And everything deleted like the past, yeah it was gone...
And when I touched your face, I could tell you're moving on...
But it's not the fact that you kissed him yesterday..!
It's the feeling of betrayal, that I just can't seem to shake..!
And everything I know tells me that I should walk away..!
But I just want to stay...
And my friend said:
I know you love her, but it's over, mate..
It doesn't matter, put the phone away..!
It's never easy to walk away,
let her gooo..!
It'll be okay...
It's gonna hurt for a bit of time..
So bottoms up, let's forget tonight..!
You'll find another and you'll be just fine,
let her go..!
But nothing heals...
The past like time...
And they can't steal...
The love you're born to find...
But nothing heals..
The past like time...
And they can't steal..
The love you're born to find..!
I know you love her, but it's over, mate..
It doesn't matter, put the phone away..
It's never easy to walk away, let her gooo..!
It'll be okay...
It's gonna hurt for a bit of time..
So bottoms up, let's forget tonight..
You'll find another and you'll be just fine,
Let her gooo..!
It'll be alright...
It'll be alright..!
It'll be alright...
It'll be alright..!
It'll be alright...
As the melody slowly came to a stop, there was a strange pain thumping in her chest. She had never seen him like this before, so vulnerable, so heartbroken..
His eyes had gotten glassy from the tears that formed, gripping the guitar in his hands, as well as a sheet of paper that was beside him.
All that was heard was silence..
"... nice voice.."
"JESUS-" Jumping in place, Victor almost dropped the guitar, skin growing a shade oler before looking over at the door. "Cyn, you scared the shit out of me!!"
She had to cover her mouth in order not to laugh, clearly taking a deep breath. "Sorry, force of habit."
Letting out a heavy sigh, the boy placed down his guitar as she walked over. "I've uh.. never heard you sing before."
"You've never cared enough to come to our band practice."
"You know I'm not good at social events.." She replied with a grumble.
To her surprise, he let out a small laugh. "I know, Cyn, I've known you for a full year now."
As Victor cleaned up the area a bit, a thought quickly came to Cynthia's mind, making her bite her lip in nervousness. "So.. was that about anyone special..?"
"Hm?"
"The song.."
"... you could say that.." He picked up the small paper that was beside him. "I wrote it like three years ago. It was lost until today and I decided to try it out."
"Seems kinda depressing to just be an idea.."
"I had been dumped around that time. I won't spare you the details, bit of a downer." He then walked over, stretching his arms above his head. "Sorry for making you guys wait, by the way. I guess the nostalgia got to me."
"It's.. alright.."
Noticing her tense posture, he raised an eyebrow. "What's up?"
"Just.. I'm sorry you had to go through that.."
"Since when are you sympathetic? With me??"
"Just take the apologize, will you?"
At her small glare, he let out a chuckle. "I'll accept it, but it was years ago, I'm over it. The song's old as well."
"Still.."
Victor then gave her a warm smile, gently nudging her side. "Don't worry about it, okay?"
Cheeks growing pink, Cynthia huffed. "Whatever.."
..... so uh
