Life Story: Inobi Yamanaka, considered to be among one of the prettiest bush clovers covered in thorns and thistle of the Yamanaka clan. She was born four years after her cousin, Ino Yamanaka, meaning that she was already placed in the shadow of her family. While growing up she was often talked about in the third person by just about anyone who cared: Would she grow up to be as pretty as her mother or Ino? Could she be another prodigy like her uncle, Inoichi? Could she...? Would she...? When will she...?

You get the picture.

This led her to retreat into herself for a couple years and not really put much effort at all into fine tuning her chakra. It was almost like dealing with a shell of a person, she was just barely there. In time the people who put the up on such a high pedestal began to just accept her as just another sub-par member of the family, and it was like a breath of fresh air.

Inobi would often sneak into the Akimichi compound to do some rough and tumble kind of training, focusing particularly on wrestling. Chōza Akimichi was considered a personal mentor of sorts for her, and taught the young Yamanaka how to focus her chakra into large, devastating attacks.

When she was too sore to strongarm with the Akimichi men, she found solace in working on swordsmanship from the special jounin, Hayate Gekkō. This particular bond of teacher and student was no more than a random occurrence next to a riverbank. Inobi had walked in on Hayate's downtime exercises, and the jounin just didn't have the heart to make her leave.

When not training, Inobi could often be found playing ninja with the boys of the village, like Konohamaru for instance. In their younger days, the two could barely stand the sight of the other. Konohamaru believed that Inobi was a selfish jerk, and would often berate into her ears. On the flip side, the young Yamanaka had a dislike for Konohamaru because she thought of him as a loud mouth. As a result of this tension, the two always fought. However, it wasn't until they joined the academy that Konohamaru and his gang found out that Inobi was a girl, and it was well into Shippuden that Konohamaru actually saw Inobi as a girl.

Once becoming a genin, Inobi was regrettably forced to wear some form of proper mission attire. With age came a noticable difference in her outward appearance, such as the appearance of more feminine facial features and a more slender build. This built a severe kind of awkwardness between her and the other kids she used to play with when they were younger. This all came to a head when one of the boys confessed his feelings to her and, in a fit, she grabbed him by his collar and held him up off the ground. After that point, she seemed to almost instantly cut all the ties she had to her old group of friends. The boys wouldn't hang out with her out of fear, and the girls, while secretly admiring her strength, kept their distance to protect their social status.

From then on, Inobi then became known as a sort of drifter inside the village. Most times she would hang out with the older kids, like Ino and her team, since they were family. Inobi wouldn't admit it, but the fact was that she was lonely, and just wanted things to go back to the way they were.

Eventually, when Inobi got older, and Mai had left the village for Dōro, the young Yamanaka decided to leave the village as well. It was during a mission to the Land of Fangs, where a group of rogue ninja attacked her squad near one of the nation's many waterfalls. It was then that she enacted her plan, faking her death at the hands of a well placed kunai, and taking a tumble down one of the largest waterfalls. Of course, this was all planned, as there was a secret cave hidden behind the falls that allowed her to escape the sharp rocks at the bottom.

She escaped, her friends, family, and the village believing her dead as nothing more than a scattered pool of blood drifting through the rivers. She then began her journey, going off in search of purpose, until she found herself on the doorstep of the samurai in the Land of Iron.

About her-

Personality: Inobi is an odd case, seeming to have a split personality of one being being a rough tomboy, and the other being rather charming and motherly. These behavioural changes can happen in the blink of an eye depending on who she's talking to.

Growing up, Inobi was almost always seen with either a cocky smile or angry glare, as playing mostly with boys had that effect. While always mouthing off when no adults were looking, she instantly change her tone the moment her actions came to attention.

Inobi didn't care for playing with dolls or getting into make-up, but ever since she was young she did like the idea of making herself look good with clothes. It didn't matter who they were meant for, boys or girls, she would usually try on most anything in her home, with her parent's help of course. This also led to her minor fascination with shorter hair, as she believed that it went much better with most outfits.

In her later years, Inobi was led to harden her heart ever so much. She kept her more girly aspects pushed aside to maintain her authority over her underlings. She's can be seen as aggressive towards her men, but she'll be quick to say that it's "tough love". In the public eye, however, she's always mannerable, and usually quite accommodating to even the most absurd requests, as most of her shame withered a long time ago.

Good habits:

1. Never wastes a thing from a battle. She will often search the area for any leftover weapons, usable clothes, or provisions from fallen enemies.

2. She will take as much time as needed to properly train her subordinates. It doesn't matter when or where she is ordered to be, she will not go until those she is directly in control of have a clear grasp of their mission.

3. Inobi is, without doubt, selfless. On the rare occasions that she and her men are outmatched or outnumbered, she will tell them to run while she's the distraction.

Bad habits:

1. While good at training others, she has been rather lax in her own training. Not because of laziness, but because of not having been presented a real challenge in a long while.

2. She's a recreational smoker, and oftentimes puts out her cigarettes in windowsills.

3. She will often lash out at most people whenever they mistake her for a boy. However, the same can be said if someone treats her too much like a girl.

Clan history: The Yamanaka clan is one of the three legendary families that form the "Ino-Shika-Cho" clan formation, one of the true staples of the Hidden Leaf Village. Their mastery of mind techniques have made great use in areas like: interrogation, espionage, and intelligence gathering. As a bonus, they display aptitude for sensory abilities, telepathic communication, reading minds, and transferring their consciousness.

The flower insignia of the clan, a bush clover, is the symbol for "positive love".

As a right of passage for each clan of the Ino-Shika-Cho formation, each new generation will receive special earrings from a member of the Sarutobi clan once they become chūnin. These earrings symbolize that they have become adults in the eyes of their respective clans, and show that they are ready to lead the clan if the need ever arose.

Everyday outfit: When she was a part of the village, Inobi often sported a simple loose t-shirt and grey cargo shorts. She was still a stickler for personal style, so her clothes were more often than not matching for a certain mood she felt, activity she was going to do, or even based on what weather was outside.

As a samurai, the times where she's not geared for a fight usually has her wearing a dark blue and purple hakama, with the main covers being a double cotton weave and the ties being made from silk. She doesn't wear her corset during these times, but the bandages are still clearly there.

Mission Outfit: As a ninja, Inobi wore a dark purple vest and compression shorts, a testament to the fact that, while she had respect for her cousin Ino, she wasn't exactly going to follow in her footsteps. Bandages are loosely wrapped around her ankles up to her mid-calves, and she wears the standard blue shinobi sandals of the village. On her forearms she wore off white arm warmers, this being one of the biggest things she copied from her cousin's wardrobe.

Nowadays, as a samurai captain, she is almost never in a battle without her armor on, if she can help it. It's a standard suit, complete with respirator and a horned helmet to mark her status, but Inobi did have a hand in decorating it. The side plating is painted with colored brambles and thorns, amidst them are bush clover flowers. The front plate depicts a rather simple, abstract decal of a water lily.

Underneath the armor, Inobi still wears her everyday garb, however now she wears her corset along with the bandages. This restrains the bouncing of her chest, allowing more control in her movements.

Accessories: Since becoming a samurai she has had her ears pierced with small, blue studs. After obtaining the rank of captain she replaced them with silver.

Makeup: Inobi distastes the idea of makeup, though begrudgingly relents with using light colored lipstick, small amounts of mascara, and minimal natural blush.

Scent: Inobi has always smelled earthy, even from an early age. She smells of the Autumn trees, pine, dried soil, and lemongrass.

Jewelry: Since becoming a samurai she has had her ears pierced with small, blue studs. After obtaining the rank of captain she replaced them with silver.
