Backstory: Ethan was a scientist that didn't see these creatures as hostile, just scared. They overheard Dr. Williams mumbling about his real intentions. As they were about to tell the public, Dr. Williams confronted them and insisted on their assistance for a project. Since they were a kind-hearted person, they accepted.
