Val's  parents are divorced, she moved away with her father. She has always had a rocky relationship with her mother, and because of that, she had gone with her father. She refused to stay with her mother. The two rarely speak. the only person that kept in contact with her mother is through her older brother since he stayed behind. She has always been inspired by her father's line of work, used to always go with him, or stop by the police station after school. It eventually led her to want that same line of work as well.
