Botan is very mission-oriented, he does what he is told most of the time. He can be hardheaded and sometimes he can be very stupid. Sometimes things just go over his head. He can be oblivious. He does try his best to stay attentive to his surroundings. He was always a fast learner, there isn't a damn thing this guy can't learn. He can be competitive, he can be a sore loser at times, it's hard. He always wins, he's always good at what he does. He likes to pretend that he's all tough but he's a real idiot, one that was easily persuaded at times...usually if food is involved.

Botan was raised in a poor village with his family, he actually has ten siblings...yes. See, the more children, the more money his parents would make for their home and on their farm. It allowed them to have extra help even if it took a while for the children to grow for it. Anyway, Botan saw himself as someone who could do more than just be some farmer. So on the side, he and his friends would try and learn how to fight, to defend themselves. They were indeed willing to have a much more adventurous future. And clearly he did end up doing well enough for people to start to pay him to do little odd and crazy jobs. It makes a good living in his book!
