Opal X had a family but didn't like her at all and she had a boyfriend to.  One day her family got in a fight and her father killed her mom and gave opal way but kept her sister. When opal went to school she saw her boyfriend kissing her sister and opal ran out the school and went to the woods when she saw Nightlight and told him what she been through.  She was taken and after 24 year of fighting she became Opal X.
