Backstory

Zee and Demmalena Zatara is the daughters of  Giovanni John Zatara and Sindella. They both inherited magic from both parents: light magic from their father and dark magic from their mother also Demmalena got a power of an oni from her mother. One day when they was turning five years old, their mother abandoned them and her father for unknown reasons then, every Zee and Demmalena birthdays has turned out to be the best day of the year. Zee Demmalena and their father, Giovanni Zatara would travel cross country performing basic magic tricks from fairs to birthday parties in order to get their act off the ground and while they didn't get their big break, they loves performing with their father. One morning, Zee and Demmalena wakes up (while not noticing they performing magic) and discovered a mysterious pink dot on their nose, thinking it was a pimple but when they tried to cover it, it disappeared and more dots started to reappear, causing her to hide it from their father.

During their trip, Zee and Demmalena began to unintentionally use magic such as pulling a coin out of a kid's ear, only to cause the ear to release an unlimited supply of coin, teleporting in and out while talking to a young boy, talking backwards while getting a burger, which caused the burgers and fries to fly out to the counter towards her and even more uncontrollable magic occurs while still trying to hide it from her father.

Later during practice, zee and Demmalena discovered that they and their father were invited to be in a big show for magic. However, on the night of the event, Zee and Demmalena told their dad they wasn't going to perform, causing their father to be sad upon hearing that. After he left, Zee and Demmalena began to experience more uncontrollable magic, causing their father to burst in and discover the truth, only to discover that he's also magic and was proud that they got her powers too. After been given a chest containing a book that will allow her to control her magic, Zee Demmalena and their father perform and was discovered on stage by a bookie, where after traveling the world performing magic, Zee and Demmalena father was hired to work at the casino/hotel in Metropolis, thus starting a new life in the city 

she is seen when Barbara Kathleen Gordon transferred from Gotham to Metropolis, after Zee and Demmalena magically picked up their backpack, making Babs suspicious of them. Once Zee was enrolled in Metropolis High School where she would be lured into a food fight by Babs. It turned out that the food fight was schemed by Barbara so that she would be placed in detention with four other individuals that she suspected were superheroes, namely Karen Beecher Kara Danvers Jessica Cruz and of course Zee and Demmalena The group were joined by a mysterious girl called Princess Diana Prince of Themyscira also known as Wonder Woman who had been caught wandering the streets. On discovering that Diana had travelled to Metropolis to save what she called 'the world of man', she and Barbara manged to persuade a reluctant Zee and the other three girls into forming a superhero team. While the team almost immediately fell apart after their first mission they managed to pull together to defeat a robot army by Lutessa "Lena" Luthor  cementing Zee's and Demmalena partnership with the rest of their team they know as Zatanna and lady yin and yang
