My GOD is...

September 7

Psalm 142:5 I cry to you, O Lord; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."

Who is God for me?
Its easy to say and express praise to God and see who He is in times of blessings and rainbows in life. But it is crucial and genuine in a sense to express who God is in times of trouble, persecution, sickness and depression (or in whatever you are going through)... He is only glorified in the truest sense in your life in times of pain when He alone satisfies us in the very moment of discomfort. God's worth in our lives is seen most effectively in our hope, peace, joy and love despite the storms we have encountered more than in the bright and sunny days of life.
David in this moment when he had spoken this prayer was in a cave, he was in distress... He knew his enemies were around and their were traps, persecution... yet he prayed to God that even in those moments God is still desirable and He is the only safe place he could be in... God is his refuge. He has faith that even in times of trouble there's still a safe place for Him and that is God's presence and even if it may seem he has nothing but himself yet his faith sees what truly matters and that He has God as his portion... God is his share in this life... and so even in times of scarcity he has everything... because of the LORD his God.
Pain is a moment to be real to yourself and an opportunity to evaluate yourself of your desire...
Psalm 142:5 Then I pray to you, O Lord... You are all I really want in life. (NLT)
YOU ARE ALL I REALLY WANT IN LIFE. So God alone satisfy us... having Him means our life so... even if it takes danger to feel and be with the LORD then let it be... because at the end of the day I just want to be with Him. Promising to love somebody in good times is given but honor and glory comes only in loving someone despite the suffering you both have encountered. Pain reveals your heart... it opens you up... revealing your the true state of your faith. To see your faith is not for the LORD to see but for you to know your faith in Him. When you see it then... you can work out your lacking in this life in the LORD. And pain reveals who God is and His value to you.

May you be like the psalmist, declare God's goodness and experiencing Him as a refuge and the only desire and portion in your life in this life He has given for the glory of God.

To God be the glory!
