Part 8
Sunmi POV
The smile on his face faded as he stepped inside. I closed the door and started to walk towards the dining room. I walked over to my seat and said "Please have a seat" as I gestured to the empty chair across from me.
He walked over and took his seat. I could tell he was really nervous being in the same room as me right now and I really wanted to smile and laugh, but I kept my poker face and remained calm.
As we were eating dinner, his mother started to brag about Minwoo. "Minwoo is such a wonderful son! It's a shame that he has never had a girlfriend" she pouted and all I wanted to do was laugh out loud. "What about you, dear? Do you have a boyfriend?"
I can't believe she actually asked me that directly. I could almost laugh. "Actually, my boyfriend just broke up with me."
I heard his mother gasp in shock. "Why? He couldn't have been very smart to let go of such a sweet young lady such as yourself, right Minwoo?" she nudged his arm.
He coughed as he choked on his drink and said "Right." I almost laughed at the sight.
"What happened dear?" my mother asked. "I thought you said that things were going well."
Please, you were hoping that we would break up so that you could set me up on dates like this. "Well, he took me out to a really nice restaurant for lunch. I thought he was doing it to make up for missing our one year anniversary dinner that I had planned, but that wasn't the case." I looked at Minwoo and smiled. "Then he said that we needed to talk."
"Why do guys always say that?" Minwoo's mother sighed. "Don't they know that is a dead giveaway?"
I giggled a little "I guess he wasn't too smart. Then he said that he wanted to break up with me because his parents had set him up on a blind date with a really rich girl and he didn't want there to be any problems."
"What?" my father screamed. "Where is that asshole? He deserves a beating!"
"I agree" Minwoo's father said.
"He sounds horrible!" Minwoo's mother shivered. "I'm glad that Minwoo would never act like that."
"Darling" my mother placed her hand on mine. "He obviously wasn't worthy of being with you."
"I agree" I smiled. "That's why I threw my glass of wine in his face and left."
"Good for you!" Minwoo's mother said.
We continued to eat, but I really didn't have much of an appetite, so I politely excused myself and went out to the garden for some fresh air.
While I was looking at the stars, I heard someone behind me. I turned around and saw Minwoo standing around with an embarrassed look on his face.
"What do you want now?" I asked.
"You know" he rubbed the back of his head. "I really didn't want to break up with you."
Now I laughed "Really? I thought you didn't want any problems."
"You know I only said that because I wanted you to hate me. I really do care about you babe."
"Then why did you go to the club on our year anniversary?"
"Huh?" he was confused. "What are you talking about? I was studying."
"Please! No one plays music that loud when they are studying! Plus your brother was acting weird when I showed up. I knew you were there."
"If you knew, then why did you go?"
"To show you that I wasn't as stupid as I looked, but you obviously didn't get the hint." After speaking my mind, I went back inside to grab my purse. Minwoo followed and took a seat next to his parents.
"What's going on?" my mother asked.
"Sorry, but I'm not feeling that well" I lied.
My mother stood up and gave me a loving hug "Get better soon."
"I will" I smiled. I turned to leave and a thought came to mind, so I went with it. I turned back around and said "Minwoo Oppa." He sat up straight and both our parents smiled at the fact I called him Oppa. "Don't forget to send me the dry cleaning bill. I wouldn't want the wine to permanently stain the suit you were wearing earlier" I smiled and then turned and left.
As I was walking out the door, I heard both my and Minwoo's father screaming and cursing at him. "Guess he finally got what he deserved" I chuckled to myself as I hailed the taxi I had called.
Instead of going home, I decided to go visit my favorite Ahjumma. She welcomed me with a hug and dragged me over to the booth we always sat in to talk.
"So, what happened? Did he propose?" she asked excitedly. I had told her that Minwoo was taking me out to make up for missing our anniversary.
"No" I smiled. "Actually, he broke up with me."
"What? That good for nothing, son of a......."
"Ahjumma" I smiled and she stopped and looked at me. "Can I have a drink?"
"Of course dear" she smiled as she got up and grabbed my favorite bottle of soju. "Drink as much as you want."
I drank the bottle she gave me and then went home. Because I was tired, I didn't go up to the roof and I regretted it the next day; I woke up with a headache. "Damn it!" I cursed to myself. I looked at the clock and screamed. "Crap! I'm going to be late!"
I quickly got dressed and rushed out of my apartment. I was trying desperately to hail a taxi, when I heard Myungsoo behind me ask "Why are you in such a rush?"
Myungsoo POV
I was getting ready to leave when I heard a door slam. As I opened my door, I saw Sunmi running to the stairwell and disappear. "I wonder what's going on?" I shrugged my shoulders as I got on the elevator and went to meet the guys. We had a schedule today, so they were going to pick me up.
When I got outside, I saw Sunmi desperately trying to hail a cab. "Why are you in such a rush?" I asked as I chuckled.
"Sorry Myungsoo, but I don't have time to talk. I'm going to be late for work."
"Then let me give you a ride" I smiled. "We are actually going in that direction."
She looked at me surprised. "Are you sure? You won't get in trouble?"
I walked over to her and grabbed her hand "Come on!" I dragged her over to the van and said "Get in."
When I hopped in, Sunggyu asked "What's going on?"
"Sunmi needed a ride, so I offered since we were going in that direction" I smiled. "You guys don't mind, right?"
"Of course not" our manager said as he sped us on our way.
As we were driving, I couldn't help but ask "Why are you running so late today?"
"Overslept" she groaned. "Does anyone have some pain killers?"
"Why?" Sunggyu asked.
"I've got a headache from my hangover" she replied.
"Why did you drink so much?" I asked.
Sunggyu handed her some pain killers and she quickly swallowed them. "My boyfriend dumped me" she stated as though it were a common occurrence.
We arrived at her restaurant and she hopped out. "Thank you so much for the ride" she smiled brightly and then ran inside.
Her boyfriend dumped her? Why would he dump an angel like her? He's crazy! If she was mine, I'd never let her go!
