To the one from the star,

I possibly couldn't have believed you, now could I? But I did. How else would you have known about my wish -- my ache to witness a miracle?

Your eyes sung melodies of the universe with the wind, and I remember feeling an aching sense of comfort inside my chest when I stared into the depths of it. I realised my heart was swelling.

With joy? Ecstasy?

Hope...?

Those feelings were foreign to me. I couldn't exactly identify this...this state of my mind.

But I knew it was a good feeling. A cool sense of calm that curdled on the peripheries of my soul. The oncoming of peace that blocked any sense of melancholy. I could feel it rattle within me. I could feel it radiate from you.

I remember shifting closer to you while you still stared at the sky. I think I saw a star shoot across the vast expanse, burning brightly with all its glory. But it wasn't as beautiful as you.

You were the most beautiful. Still are.

"So you don't know what's a genie?" I'd asked to make a conversation. I didn't mind the silence but for some reason, I felt this insane need to talk to you.

Your lips had curved into the beginnings of the smile that I didn't realise I'd grown to love, before you said, "Not really. Is he a star from another universe?"

"Nope, just a spirit who remains caged in a lamp and only gets to come out when his master asks for a wish."

You looked aghast. "You humans cage holy wish granters like him in lamps? How small is he anyway?"

I'd laughed, for probably the first time in a long while. "Oh he's big enough, alright."

Your eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint "That's what she said." And you winked. You winked!

And I don't remember what happened next but I'm pretty sure I'd fallen off the roof of my house, laughing louder than a banshee.

I still can't believe you'd say something like that. You! A star!

I still can't believe you'd made me laugh.
