And then Jimin died.

BACK TO THE STORY

///

You were casually walking into your dorm room on Wednesday morning after grabbing a coffee for breakfast downstairs in the dining area.

You entered the room sighing as you saw your roommate still snoring on her bed making you chuckle slightly.

You made your way over to your bed, noting the time on your alarm clock and smiling.

Alex should be here soon.

You missed that crazy gal.

She's coming not only to visit you, but also to see your speech. And even though you were off your head stressing on the speech, the thought of Alex being there calmed your nerves a bit.

And Jimin said he would be there too, which also made it all the better, considering the speech was in reference to him although he didn't know it.

When in your literature class, your lecturer told the entire class that they would be doing a speech on something that changed their perspective on living in some form or another.

After talking to some of your fellow classmates, you learned that a lot of people had trouble thinking of what to write about. Where as for you, you had your entire speech thought out in mere seconds.

It's basically your life story over the past year.

That's not to say that you put the speech together in the amount of time that you thought of it.

The truth is it's the day of your speech presentation and you're still correcting it in some way and the time constraint you had to present your speech also didn't help.

You've read over the speech too many times to count. Just changing sentences around and making it appear the best way that you could present it.

The lecturer said to make the speech as real as possible and make it truthful to how you feel.

She was a lovely teacher. It was almost like a creative writing class when you were with her.

Sure, she did care about spelling mistakes and not having the right punctuation in some places, but she wanted everyone to write freely.

She didn't care if it was simple vocabulary that you had or the most complex vocabulary, in which the audience would need a dictionary after to figure out what the hell you were on about.

She just wanted her students to tell a story that would move people and inspire them in some way.

Instead of some boring line that would put the audience to sleep like: "hello, I like apples. They are very nice blah blah blah"

And you were hoping that your speech would meet her expectations, but as well as that, you wanted Jimin to be touched by your speech.

You wanted to show him how much you loved and appreciated him.

Jimin's P.O.V.

"Are you feeling better now?" My coach asked me as the rest of group went for their water break.

"Yeah, thanks coach" I said panting heavily, wiping the sweat off my forehead.

"Well your dancing is improved since the last day, but your emotional attitude is much the same" he said, tilting his head to the side.

I raised his head to match his gaze.

"Jimin if something is wrong, you should really tell someone" he said, hoping to provide some sort of comfort? I guess?

I was growing sick of people telling me to talk to someone and don't sit and stew in silence.

I rolled my eyes at the thought.

As if it wasn't bad enough with Jungkook coming up to me and complaining about smoking and telling me that he's always there as someone to talk to about the so-called problem. Calling it that only made me even more annoyed.

Or Hongjoon telling me to leave my friend group and talk to y/n, talking in a deep demanding tone. As if he thinks he has the authority to speak to me in that way.

Fucking prick.

And now my own coach, who knows nothing about my personal life besides the fact that my dad is in Prison, mainly for assault and fraud. Just to name a few reasons.

Everyone in this whole damn college seems to know that.

It's as if everyone sees me as a fucking baby, and it's really starting to piss me off.

"Thanks coach" I murmured out, immediately standing up and getting away from him because if he kept saying all that crap about talking about my feelings to someone I would've snapped.

I made my way outside and as I was walking I passed Jungkook and he gave me a sad look, knowing I was going outside to smoke.

And that only fumed my anger even more.

I pushed open the doors and saw my real friends sitting on their designated bench.

The same friends who help me unwind and leave me to deal with my own thoughts instead of prying into my life.

Minho didn't even greet me, just stuck out the small roll of paper to me because he knew it would help me.

"I really wanna hit something" I said, waiting for someone to hand me a lighter.

"Hit the lamppost" Minho said nonchalantly as he lit his cigarette.

And so I walked over to the steel lamppost and imagined everyone's face and what they've said to me.

I could feel the anger go through my veins and so I lashed out.

I hit the pole.

And I heard the bang from the fist to metal contact and I heard a snap.

I looked down at my fist and as I did so, I felt the excruciating pain shoot through my hand.

My knuckles were beginning to swell and bruise badly.

There must've been something attached to the pole that scratched my hand as it began to bleed.

But after that silence all I heard was cheers in the background with people coming up behind me and slapping my back.

"If I was that pole I'd be knocked out dead" one of the men said.

"I say we go out tonight and celebrate Jimin's - Ah - good hit?" Another said.

"You will literally go out to celebrate anything wouldn't you Shinwon" one laughed.

"No, no, I think shinwon is right" Minho smirked. "Let's go out and celebrate"

"I think I need to get my hand checked out-" I began to say, biting back my tears.

"Oh please Jimin, just wrap it in a bandage, it'll be okay" Minho laughed.

And next thing I know, I'm wrapping my hand in a gauze and getting ready for a night out.

Not that I was complaining.

Normal P.O.V.

"Ahhhh!!" A very familiar girl said. "I missed you, you big doofus" Alex smiled, pulling you into a squeezy hug.

"I missed you too you big loser" you said holding her tightly.

She pulled away from the embrace and began looking you over.

"Your hair is so much longer now" she noticed and you smiled, loving how she sees the small things.

"Yeah it is" you chuckled and you then spotted Jinyoung standing behind Alex.

You must've been so tied up in hugging Alex that you didn't even see him.

"Hi Jinyoung" you greeted giving him a quick hug.

"Hello y/n" he answered, hugging you back.

"Come on I'll bring you up to my dorm" you said and they followed you as you walked up and inside to your room.

"So this is where sleeping beauty stays" Alex joked and you playfully rolled your eyes.

"Oh yeah Sowon really is royalty"

"I haven't seen that gal in years! How is she?" Alex said, sitting down on your bed.

"She's fine, I don't see her all that often due to our busy schedules but that's life" you shrug.

Alex looked around the room, her eyes landing on the desk with your speech laying on it.

"You nervous about the speech?" She asked.

"Shitting a brick" you answered causing the two to erupt in a fit of laughter.

///

"You ready Jimmy boy?" Shinwon asked slapping his back as the group got ready in Minho's apartment which was a about a ten minute walk away from Jimin's dorm building.

They all already have had a few shots, just to keep them happy.

"Where are we even going?" Jimin asked.

"Somewhere you'll love" Minho whispered.

They all filed out of the dorm and downstairs into Minho's car. Jimin was squished in the car and they began to drive.

Jimin was wearing a loose black shirt that was tucked into some tight black, ripped jeans.

He was so uncomfortable being squished in the back of the car, his hand still in immense pain from punching the lamppost, which he does realize now was really, really stupid.

But when you are in a zone of anger, you don't really think much.

"We're here boys!" One of them exclaimed. All the men hopped out of the car and as Jimin did so, he looked around.

They all began walking in a certain direction and Jimin followed behind and they arrived in front of a brick building.

They waited in line for a few minutes until they were in front of a bouncer who was asking for their ID's.

And after all that commotion, they all walked down a corridor, hearing some loud music pound through the walls.

And then they turned a corner, entering the club and that's when Jimin saw it.

The neon lights and all the drunk men.

The stage and the poles and the women who were dancing on them.

"We are in a strip joint boys!" Minho exclaimed.

Jimin's drunk body had no clue what was happening, yet his sober mind was riddled with disgust.

///

"You're gonna do great" Alex smiled as she rubbed your upper arm with comfort.

You and Alex were currently waiting in what would be the equivalent to a backstage area of the hall.

The hall wasn't all that big, but there was a good few people there.

People have appeared to have already taken their seats.

You nodded and smiled to Alex, feeling your heart pound against the skin on your chest.

"Is Jimin here?" You asked.

Alex sighed out briefly, knowing that he wasn't out there.

"I'm sure he'll be here soon" she whispered and you breathed in shakily. "Okay, I'm going to go and sit down. I'll be rooting for you doll" she said fixing a strand of your hair.

She then left you alone as you read over your speech.

Next thing you know your professor walked on stage, introducing herself and greeting everyone who came.

Then she finished and invited up the first speaker.

And then the second speaker.

And the third, and fourth, and suddenly it was your turn.

You walked up to the microphone seeing Alex smile up at you from the crowd.

You took a deep breath in, closing your eyes before you continued.

"Good evening everyone and thank you for attending our 'speak out' event, I was given the topic of 'something that changed their perspective on living in some form or another' from our professor and from the moment I heard about it, I knew what I was going to talk about. Lets start with some back story shall we? My name is y/n and I grew up from a childhood that in more ways than one ruined any chance of happiness that I could achieve on my own in life" you began and you noticed the audience look at you with sympathetic glances.

"It was hard growing up for me. I had no one to look for in a time of need. My mother died a few years ago due to lung cancer from smoking"

That was the main reason but she also had other reasons for the cause of her death, but you didn't want to bring them up right now.

Or ever really. You just didn't think of those memories, ever.

"She started smoking a few years prior as a way to escape her thoughts and it ended up taking her life" you explained, some people bowing their heads slightly in sympathy. Alex's eyes widened slightly.

She's never heard you talk about you mother in relation to her death.

"Then I was left with just my father and that was harder than I think anyone could comprehend" you didn't want to go into details about living with your father and the abuse that came with that so you decided to leave it with that short statement.

"And so I became lonely within myself. I shut myself out from every prospect of life that I could, my only way of seeing people was through school - where I didn't speak to anyone - and my part time job, which I had to make some sort of money for my household" you said remembering back to your first job in a restaurant and then you moved to the cafe.

Your eyes quickly roamed the room looking for your dear boyfriend before you started the next part of your speech.

You scanned through every corner of the room in mere seconds and found that he wasn't there, but you did spot Sowon and Chaerin.

He didn't show up.

But you know who did show up?

Jackson.

Your memories flashed back to when you met Jackson last.

~

There was a few seconds of a pause before Jackson spoke again. "So anything fun happening with you?" He said, trying to make conversation.

You sigh, thinking before you answer.

"No, not really. I have a speech presentation on Wednesday, which I'm extremely nervous about" you laugh nervously.

"There's no need to be, I'm sure you'll be great. What time is it on at?" He asked.

"It starts at five in that old building by the library" you said absentmindedly.

"Sounds fun" he chuckled seeing how stressed you were.

"It's quite the opposite I must admit"

"I believe you" he chuckled.

~

He remembered and Jimin didn't.

You quickly bit back the pain in your throat that was caused by you choking back your tears.

You couldn't ruin fifteen percent of your grade on this. So you kept your head down and read the words that you had written in front of you.

"And that's when I met the man who changed it all for me. He was quite odd to me at first, but within a few days I couldn't help but feel him cracking my hard exterior and he simply did it by asking me what was wrong and he pried into my business and yes it was annoying at first," you paused hearing a few chuckles from the crowd. "But it seemed to work. All I needed was someone to talk to. Someone to listen to my problems and offer comfort when needed" you looked up for a few moments.

"And some day I hope to offer him the same that he gave me if he'd allow me too" your voice went raspy for a moment.

"And from that time in my life forward, I've learned how important it was to be there for someone, to pick them up when their down and to help in every way possible. And because that boy that I met what feels like years ago, I'm here now. He pulled me out of a place in my life that I'd still be stuck into very deeply and if he wasn't there to bring me to light when he did, I probably would be here talking to you or if I was here I would've been in the same position as everyone else doing speeches, not knowing what to write about. It's because of him that I am friends with some of the people I know today. I thank that boy who I met. The one who kindly took me into his life, making me feel welcome there in every way he possibly could and I am more than proud to say..." you stoped briefly taking a gulp before continuing.

"That I love him, no matter what dumb things he has done or continues to do. Thank you all for listening"

And clapping and a few chuckles were heard, the audience not understanding the extent of the dumb things you're referring to.

You took one last glance around the room before putting your head down in disappointment.

He really did forget.
