07 ~ And Nothing Less

///

"Jimin you're messing up that step completely! What's up with you?" Jimin's coach exclaimed as Jimin laid down on the floor in exhaustion.

"I'm sorry" he breathed.

"Is something up?" He asked. "Because if there is you'd better work it out because we have the all-state competitions coming up soon, and if you're as sloppy as you are now, I won't let you partake" he said as Jimin sat up from the floor, immediately going a bit dizzy.

"Sorry, I dont know what's happening. I'll fix the steps I promise" he said, rubbing circles on his forehead.

The coach continued to glare at him for a few moments before dismissing him with a wave of his hand.

Minho tapped his shoulder with his knee as Jimin was sitting in the floor. Jimin looked up and saw Minho as he gestured for Jimin to follow him outside.

Jimin nodded and stood up following Minho and his friends outside.

Meanwhile Jungkook was sat in the corner of the room, watching as Jimin went outside to do more harm to his body yet again.

And he couldn't call him out on it again, he already tried. And in doing so, Jimin got extremely mad, telling poor Jungkook to stay out of his business.

They don't talk as much now in dance class, and it's really upsetting him.

Jimin was lead out to a nearby bench where the five men, including Jimin, were handed cigarettes.

One each, but they were strong ones, way stronger than usual.

After one puff the group began coughing slightly and banging on their chests a bit.

"Woah, why the hell are they that strong?" One said, his eyes tearing from coughing.

Minho just turned and smirked.

"We all clearly need to work harder in there" Minho began as he eyed Jimin, practically blaming him. "And I thought these would add an extra boost"

Jimin looked down at the lit one in his hand, noticing how his fingers were beginning to tint a little orange.

It would only take so long before you noticed.

He took another breath in, sighing as his thoughts swarmed through his brain.

"What's happening with you Park?" One of the men asked.

"It's just a lots happening. The dance competition and school, but as well as that stuff seems to be wrong with y/n and we keep fighting and-" he sighed. "I just miss how it used to be, but I know I love her so I'll stick with her no matter what" he admitted, kicking a nearby pebble.

"She sounds like a lot of work" Minho sighed.

"Well, she has to put up with me and I know that's not easy, so I understand how she could be getting stressed. Especially with me in this state"

"But does she ever do anything fun? I've never seen her at a party before, or anywhere really, besides the dorm building and the diner" Minho asked.

Jimin just shifted uncomfortably, not liking how he spoke in reference to you.

"She works her ass off, and has done so her whole life. She's always either working or resting or in school" he said, speaking confidently about your work.

"Still, you don't think she would just loosen up a bit-"

"Hey! I didn't call break! Everyone in here, now!" The coach screamed at the door.

Everyone dropped there cigs on the floor, squished them with their foot and began filing into the building, Jimin was the last out of the group in the door and as he walked through the door, the coach stopped him.

"Hey, you should go home early today, practice the moves tomorrow, but rest today. You look like you need it" the man said, patting his back.

Jimin bowed repeatedly. "Thank you so much, I promise I'll be better tomorrow"

"Good, that all anyone could ever want"

"I think I want to die" Hongjoon said, walking inside the diner, catching your attention as you were refilling the trays of knifes and forks.

"And hello to you too" you sniggered.

"I got a cold" he said and you noticed his red nose.

"How did you manage to get a cold?" You asked, seeing him sit down at the counter and you walked over and stood opposite him.

"Someone dumped their drink on my head last night and then I had to walk home in the freezing cold. I honestly thought I was going to die!" He exclaimed. "And if that's not bad enough!, my throat is scratchy"

"Do you want some tea and honey?" You asked and his head perked up and nodded. "Okay I'll be back" you said walking into the kitchen.

The diner doors opened and Jimin walked in with his dance bag over his shoulder. He saw Hongjoon and his face frowned slightly.

Then you came out with a teaspoon and a small jar of honey.

"I'm just waiting for the tea, so have a spoon of this while your waiting- Jimin?" You said looking up to see him.

"Hi muffin" he smiled meekly.

You walked around the counter and gave him a hug. "Are you alright? You're not supposed to be finished for another two hours"

"The coach let me off early, so I decided to come here and be with you" he explained.

"That's incredibly sweet" you said, inhaling deeply. "Woah, you stink of smoke" you blurted, your eyes widening as you did so, his doing the same.

"Oh, I walked by this group of young kids smoking on my way here, they were smoking some strong stuff at that" he said, scratching the back of his head. "You know how crazy kids these days are" he laughed awkwardly.

"Right" you eyed him slightly.

Wow, he just lied straight to your face.

You turned away from him and walked to the kitchen to make Hongjoon's tea.

Hongjoon turned to Jimin once you were out of sight.

"You really just lied to her" he quirked an eyebrow.

Jimin glared at him. "No, I really did walk past-"

"Save it, you may not remember because you were completely wasted but last night you were telling me that you smoke and how it relaxes you" he said. "So don't try and lie to me like you just did to her" Hongjoon hissed, but he did quieten down after as you walked back into the room.

You placed down the tea in front of Hongjoon and he thanked you.

Jimin began to cough as you did so.

"You alright?" You asked and he nodded.

The cigarettes must be really getting to me, Jimin thought.

"Do you want something to drink?" You asked, reaching over the counter and caressing his shoulder and top of his back.

"Some water please" he said and you hurried away to get a cup for him.

"Do you want something to eat?" You asked and he smirked, picking up a menu and glancing at it momentarily.

"All of it seems nice" he said. "But nothing looks as good as you" he winked placing down the menu.

"Wow" you giggled, "very smooth"

"Shut up, you love it" he chuckled.

"Damn y/n, you make some good tea" Hongjoon intervened, sitting a few seats away from Jimin.

"Why thank you. I do try my best" you chuckle.

Jimin tugged at your sleeve gently, trying to gain your attention like a sad child.

"Me, pay attention to me" he said quietly.

"You're such a child" you sniggered as his lips formed a pout.

You held his hand hoping to cheer him up.

Yugyeom came out from the kitchen doors and immediately cringed.

"Please stop the PDA in here" he said holding up his hand in disgust.

"Oh please! Says you with you and your girlfriend making out in the back" you scoffed.

Yugyeom went slightly red. "I didn't know you knew about that" he spoke quietly, his voice caught in his throat.

The conversation was interrupted by Jimin taking a a deep breath and coughing from his weakening lungs.

You turned to face him and bit your lip slightly, knowing why he was coughing.

"Are you sure you're alright?" You asked and he nodded.

Hongjoon notices the situation. "He was probably drinking his water and it went down the wrong way" he explained.

He lied.

But he did explain his lie.

Both you and Jimin turned to look at him.

There was a silent pause before Hongjoon cleated his very dry throat. "T-that damn epiglottis doesn't work all the time" he said nervously.

"Y-Yeah" Jimin agreed.

"Right" you eyed to the two boys and shrugged your shoulders, walking back into the kitchen to talk to Yugyeom.

Hongjoon turned back to his tea that you made and Jimin just sat in his seat, not knowing what just happened.

"Thanks" he sighed out, rubbing his eyes, from tiredness.

"Get yourself out of that group of so-called 'friends', they're shit people" Hongjoon spoke, avoiding eye contact with Jimin by looking straight ahead.

Jimin's expression turned sour, not liking how Hongjoon was telling him what to do.

"You don't know shit about them" Jimin said, opening the menu in front of him deciding that he does want to eat something.

"I'm pretty sure I know more than you think" he murmured.

"Oh yeah, like what?" Jimin asked in an annoyed tone.

"I know that Minho is the one who got you to start smoking, what type of a friend would do that?" He asked, not able to comprehend the thoughts of that type of a person.

"A friend who knows a way to give stress relief when someone badly needs it" he answered back.

The both of them are turned in the chairs, completely facing one another yet are still sitting a few seats away from one another.

"No you dumbass! You have a very caring girlfriend who would love to help you de-stress. She'd listen to you and try help you in every way she could" Hongjoon hissed. "and don't even try to deny that because she would do that, and we both know full well that she would" he exasperated, his eyebrows furrowed.

"I don't want to bother her-"

"Oh for the love of god! Bother her! She wants to know. Don't keep her out of the loop, you're only going to make her feel like you can't trust her, or that you felt there was nothing she could do to help you. She will feel useless" he said, feeling the anger in his emotion and it coming out in his voice. "You seriously need to man the fuck up, or else-"

You walked through the swinging kitchen doors laughing at a joke Yugyeom had just told you.

"Ahh that guy is funny" you chuckled, seeing the two men in some sort of a tension.

Hongjoon stood up and picked up his jacket as he did so.

"Thanks for the tea y/n, how much was it?" He asked.

"It's on the house, don't worry about it" you said, eyeing his annoyed figure. "You alright?"

"I'm fine, thanks. Bye y/n" he said leaving the diner.

Your eyes moved from the exit door to Jimin. "What's wrong with him?" You asked curious, to which you just got a shrug of his shoulders in response and laid his head in the table.

You just sighed, not liking the silence.

"Do you want something to eat?" You asked him, seeing as he had the menu open. "I think you'd really like our French toast" you suggested.

He lifted his head to meet your gaze.

"I'm worried about you chim" You whispered while biting your lip.

He has been acting so strange lately.

He thought back to what Hongjoon said, about you being interested about knowing what's going on and wanting to help.

"That french toast sounds great" he smiled, seeing you nod hesitantly and walk to Yugyeom to tell him.

He knew you cared, of course you did.

You've cared since day one.

But Jimin has a lot of fears. Some are common fears. For example heights and deep waters.

Again I say, common fears.

But Jimin's greatest fear, the one he gets pains in his heart thinking about, is letting you down.

He's tried so hard since the day he's met you to impress you and have you feel like a queen and nothing less.

He wants you to see him as the perfect boyfriend and nothing less

He wants you to feel like you're in a relationship that you wouldn't change for the world because it met all your expectations and nothing less.

And for you to have anything but that would shatter him.

So for you to find out that he smoked and he's destroying his own body and therefore destroying all of his points on keeping you happy and not disappointing you, would tear every bit of self respect he had to shreds.

Tear it to fucking shreds.
