"Do you think a bucket hat would suit me?" Hongjoon asked, editing said hat onto a picture of him on his phone and showing it to you.
You laughed, and it was a confused laugh.
"Wait" you said and ran into the kitchen and got one of the red baskets you use for kids meals and you came back out and put it onto his head and laughed his new appearance.
"Ha-ha, you're hilarious" he sarcastically deadpanned and moved to take it off.
"Wait, wait" you stop him, swiftly taking out your phone and capture a picture of him.
"Hey!"
You turn your phone to show him and the both of you burst into a fit of giggles.
From afar, Jimin was watching you laugh from his booth where he and his friends sit.
Jungkook noticed his distressed.
"Hey jim, you good?" He nudges him.
He turned to face him. "Hmm? Yeah, it's just y/n" he said turning back to look at you.
"What did you do?" He asked.
"Something stupid" Jimin bit his lip.
One of the people at the group noticed his distress. "Hey, maybe you should have a cig. It'll relax you a bit" he said, but Jimin shook his head.
"No, not here"
///
"Okay, I'm going to go home" Hongjoon said as he stood up and took out his wallet to pay.
He slides the note across the table. "Keep the change"
"Thank you" you smile, putting the money in the register.
"Night y/n"
"Night Hongjoon"
You cleaned up where he was sitting and began to go around to all the tables and sprayed them with a disinfectant spray.
Jimin's group of friends were the only ones left in the diner.
You walked over to their booth.
"Would you like a dessert or tea or coffee?" You ask politely.
They all looked at one another before Jungkook spoke up.
"Oreo sundae please" he said with a small twinkle in his eyes.
"Sure, anyone else?" You ask.
"I'll have a coffee please" Jimin said, followed my two more saying "yeah me too"
You nodded and scribbled it down before walking to the coffee machine.
Yugyeom appeared out from the kitchen.
"Ahhh I love when it's not busy" he sighed and you smiled as you started the coffee machine.
And as if on cue, a group of drunks stumbled in.
"You jinxed it, you dumbass" you roll your eyes.
You wiped your hands and walked over to them. "Hello, welcome to Grub-"
"We can read doll face" one of them said.
"Yes, of course" you nodded. "Do you know what you want to drink?" You asked.
"Do you have any pink gin?" The one that reeked of marijuana asked.
"Sorry we don't serve alcohol sir" you said.
"What!" He exclaimed banging his hand against the surface of the table which drew the attention of Jimin's table.
Jimin immediately jumped up and walked over. "Hey! Don't you dare-"
"Jimin just leave it" you sigh. "I'll give you a minute to look over the menu"
"Where's the bathroom?" One of the men asked and he looked rather pale.
"Oh, I'll take you" you say as he stood up and he leaned on you as he walked.
When you left the man in the bathroom, you walked back to see Jimin waiting to talk to you.
"Muffin" he said as you walked past him.
"Yeah?" You deadpanned as you got Jungkook's sundae ready.
"Can we talk now? I just want to apologize"
"You have a group of friends over their Park" you said.
"You know I hate it when you call me that"
"And I hate it when people do stupid things that have serious consequences that could be fatal"
"What?" He asked.
You shake your head and put the coffees as well as the ice cream on a tray and walk over to the booth.
When you return back to the counter, Jimin is still there, waiting patiently.
You put back the tray and walk over to the table of drunks.
The pale guy appeared from the hallway and when quickly ran back to the bathroom holding his hand over his mouth chanting "not again, not again!" And you internally sighed, thinking that whatever mess he makes, you're going to be the one that is made clean it up.
You turned back to the table.
"Bacon, cheese burger" is all one of them said. "Double cheese burger" another said and as for the other two there, they were passed out.
You nodded. "Thank you"
You walked back to the kitchen and low and behold, Jimin was still there.
You walked passed him into the kitchen to give Yugyeom the order.
You walked out to the cash register and began to balance the till.
"Muffin stop avoiding me" he frowned.
"I'm doing my job, I apologize for the fact that I'm busy and I can't just sit and talk to you" you snap.
"Muffin, please don't be mad. I'm really, really sorry. It's just I joined the dance team and it stressed me out so much and some others who are doing it with me felt the same so we all went out for drinks and one thing led to another and I completely forgot" he explained.
"Go back to your friends Jimin" you said in a monotone voice.
///
You began to close up the diner after cleaning the bathroom after that drunk guy puked up his weight.
I hope I painted a nice image for you.
You began locking up alone as Yugyeom left ten minutes before you, hoping to get home as early as possible.
You mopped the floors and as you did so there was a small tap at the glass door.
Your head shot up to see Jimin outside.
You rolled your eyes but nevertheless you opened the door. You didn't even greet him, you just turned back to the job of mopping the floors.
Jimin stepped inside and closed the door behind him.
He leaned against one of the nearby tables as you mopped.
"Do you want help?"
"Nope"
Jimin nodded, the silence was deafening. So he encerted a few coins into a nearby jukebox and turned on S.O.S. by ABBA.
He knew you loved ABBA.
He moved his head in rhythm to the song and when it came to the chorus he swiftly took your hands and began dancing with you.
He held you close and sang in your ear, his breath fanning your ear and neck, sending shivers down your spine.
"You seem so far away, though you are standing near" he whispered, pouring his heart into the few words he spoke.
"So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me, SOS" he nuzzled his nose into your hair.
"For the love of god y/n, I'm fucking lost when you're mad at me, I don't know what to do with myself" he said, stroking your hair.
You almost forget all about the cigarettes and you were about to forgive him and tell him that everything's okay and then he would whisk you away into a state of pure euphoric joy.
Well, that was until you started to smell the faint scent of tobacco in his clothes.
You slowly pushed yourself away from Jimin and the heartbroken glint in his eyes left a pain on your heart.
"Muffin-"
"I forgive you for the other night" you say softly.
He visibly lightened up but only slightly.
"Then why are you still upset?" He asked.
You shook your head, feeling the tears well in your eyes. "I'm not, I'm perfectly okay"
Jimin, knowing you better than anyone else does, so he's not dumb enough to believe that.
"Then what else did I do wrong?" He asked.
And this is the point where you may be asking why don't you just come out and say it.
Why don't you just confront him about tobacco filled tubes that provide a deadly nicotine rush.
Because you're scared.
Well, to be more literal:
You're fucking terrified.
How do you confront someone about something like that?
You can't be the person who tells him what he can or cant do. You're not his mother.
You just don't understand why he couldn't tell you about it, but then again you couldn't talk to him about it either.
It's like your tongue had a weight on it every time you went to ask about the problem at hand.
You breathed heavily as your hands were pushing hard against your own hips. You looked up and blinked slowly, trying to rid your tears.
Jimin stood confused, not sure what was happening.
"Muffin-" Jimin sighed.
"I don't know what's happening" you whispered.
"What do you mean?" He asked, advancing slowly closer to you and you just shook your head.
"I really need to finish up here, so can I please just do that and we can walk home after" you said, moving around him to grab hold of the mop.
Jimin just nodded, not wanting to push you.
He stood to the side as you finished cleaning the floors and putting away the cleaning supplies.
Jimin stood outside as you switched off the lights and locked the doors.
You checked your phone to see that it was half past three in the morning and you still had to walk home with Jimin, which would result in an awkward silence as you walked.
You looked back at him after pulling the key from the door and pulled the corner of your lips up slightly saying that you were ready.
"Shall we go?" He asked and you nodded.
He held out his hand and you took it hesitantly. He pulled you close to him and you smiled slightly.
You hated the fact that there was a silence between the both of you.
"So how's the dance group that you joined going?" You asked.
Jimin sighed and rubbed his eyes.
"It's really tough work, all the dancers are amazing and the routines are difficult" he yawned.
You frowned and looked up at him.
"That sounds like a lot of work" you say concerned.
Jimin nods. "You could say that again" he chuckled lightly. "But the guys I met there are pretty cool and plus Jungkook is doing it with me so it's not that bad"
"Wait are these "guys" the same ones you came into the diner with?" You asked with an brow raised.
"Yeah, why? Don't you like them?" He asked.
"Not really" you admitted.
"What? Why not?" Jimin asked with annoyance.
"I'm sorry, were you not at the table when I was taking your order?" You ask him.
"They were only trying to be funny" he said, frustrated with how serious you were being in his eyes.
"Well I'm sorry I just don't find degrading me all that funny" you said with a sour expression.
You had long let go of his hand.
"Well maybe if you weren't so uptight-" he murmured loud enough for you to hear.
You stopped walking after hearing this. Jimin walked a few steps before realising you had stopped walking and turned around.
"Excuse me?" You squint at him in thought.
"Oh please, you hardly think you're a let-loose person, do you?" He asked. "It's annoying sometimes" he spoke.
"Are you kidding me?! You're the most irresponsible and arrogant person on this planet!" You snap back.
"Oh yeah? As arrogant as the girl who can't even tell me why she's so fucking pissed off at me?!"
Tears began to brim in your eyes as well as his.
"Well this isn't helping your situation in my eyes" you said sadly.
He looked up at the sky and took a deep breath, he then trained his eyes back on you.
"I'm sorry" he said lowly. "I don't know what came over me" he rubbed his head. "I don't think your uptight"
You eyed him closely.
"What's going on?" You crosses your arms.
"As I said before, I'm stressed. Like really stressed and I'm trying to find ways to release it and I guess I just saw our tension as a subconscious way to let it all out" he sighed.
You noticed distressed he truly was.
You stepped closer to him and put your hand on his cheek.
"Next time you're feeling this way, come to me and don't shout at me, talk to me" you whispered and you gently pressed your lips against his.
He slowly put both of his hands on your back and you leaned closer into him. He pushed his tongue inside your mouth and quickly pushed against yours.
And due to that argument, you were making out with Jimin behind a tree in a nearby park at a time when the sun was slowly beginning to rise.
The sky was orange and Jimin was sitting, slumped against a tree and you were leaning against him.
That was a bad argument, for sure. But it was nothing compared to what was coming up for the both of you.
And that was the scariest part.
