Chapter 74: Meeting The Chairman

Despite the fact that some guests were watching, Jade ran out of the hotel and gave Sapphire her hand bag. She collected it and hit him hard with it on his face, he fright a little.

Meanwhile, Miss Barbara and Mr. George were peeping through the decorative flowers standing by the corner of the hotel.

"Is that woman a mermaid or something? How can she hit our boss so hard and he haven't ripped her head apart?" She wondered.

"Is that really our CEO over there?" Mr. Tim stretched his neck forward and widened his eyes to see clearly. Watching the cat and rat fight between them was unbelievable.

"I can't believe my eyes. He's going after her like, for real?" It looked as if Miss Barbara wished she was the one in her position.

"Me too. I feel like we've been really busy as of late." Mr. George replied.

Like a lioness being deprived from feeding on it's prey. Sapphire turned to Jade.

"What do you want, again? I made it crystal clear with her that I'm not into you!" She pointed out. Tired of he and Chloe causing any more drama. Sapphire faced him and continued.
"What do you mean? You should have drawn a line with her much earlier. You should have made her understand, better. Why did you make me bare witness to your arguments? It makes me look so petty. You just stood there watching me as if I'm one crazy bitch. As if I was the one running around with a lawyer and contact!"

"What's the problem?" He asked, calmly.

"That's the problem?!" She hissed at him... Trying to calm herself, down.

"So... I plan to do something now." He moved closer, staring at her eyes intensely. Feeling guilty.

"Do what?" She raised an eyebrow at him and took a step back.

"My grandfather wants to invite you to the company's anniversary party."

"A company's anniversary party?" She asked once again.

"What do you want to do? You decide, Fire." He held her closer as they shared an eye contact.
"Do you want to go with me?"

"Won't there be lots of other people there and the media?"

"Yes." Jade nodded positively at her question.

She looked confused for awhile, with her hand scratched the back of her neck.

"Um, fine. We'll just go separately. And... don't you dare act like you know me, Mr. CEO!"

"What?"

"There would be an awful lot of people who'll attend. But the only people who would recognize me are you and your cousin. Oh, and Chloe too along side your Aunt. In case all you need to do is pretend not to know me."

"Does that makes any sense?"

"Why not?"

"You don't expect me to actually stand empty handed when you're my date. Aren't we dating?"

"Yeah.. this is better than complicating things later after the rumours have spread. All I need to do is to meet the chairman, and ask him why he's doing this to me."

"One thing for sure. Grandpa knows you, Fire. And he said that you two have met before." Jade emphasized.

"What?" Sapphire quirked an eyebrow at him.

Jade walked closer to her, barely an inch in between them.

"So... Why don't you come clean now and tell me. What's the relationship between you two?"

She stamped on his feet like an horse's shoe striking against the Earth

"Are you deaf or just dead? I told you we don't know each other! I've never met your grandfather, got that?!"

Jade cried to his feet that went red from her stamp he started limping and couldn't catch up again, with her.

She rolled her eyes at him feeling so enraged but she took a taxi to Zoey's boutique.

With this, Jade followed the taxi while Sapphire noticed. She asked the taxi driver to stop by a corner after which, she paid him.

Jade stopped his jeep where she was standing and lowered down his glasses.

"Why are you following me, Mr. CEO?"

"I'm so sorry about that, Fire. And please, call me Jade."

"Is that all?"

"No... Actually. You'll need a couple of things if you're coming to the party. Won't you? Women love parties, right?"

"Wow! It seems you're very educated about these kinds of things but I've never attended a party like this."

About to open his jeep's door, Jade pull out the knob as the door opened.

"I do know a thing or two, yes."

"Oh, whatever. I can just pick things out with Zoey."

"Okay then. Let's go together." He smiled.

Sapphire took her seat and put on her seatbelt.

"Why are you coming along for this, too?" Sapphire asked.

"I'm not too fond of Zoey's tastes. Her style doesn't match you at all. He explained as they hit the road.

At Zoey's Boutique

Zoey came out with a white crop top and a bright baby pink skirt that complemented the out fit so well.

With this... Jade balled his eyes at Zoey at if he would stone her to death with his bare eyes.

He just had to push Sapphire back into the room to change. Zoey helped her out with something else...

It was a dark, navy-blue, fitted gown with sparkling stones on it.

Jade looked at her for a while but his last os only muttered one word.

"What the hell is this?"

"No no no... This is the uglies dress ever! It's not like we're going for clubbing. It's a an official party!" Just get back in there!" Jade persuaded which made Sapphire turn back along side, Zoey.

It was a red jumpsuit with squat.

Opening the door, Jade raised his gaze upon Sapphire as he looked at her all around.

"It's not bad though... I just need something more... Simple, yet, refined."

"Yes sir. I'll do just that." Zoey sounded so formal and they went in for another change.

Sapphire came out with a metallic golden sequin gown that was beautifully styled and fitted on her tiny body.

Although, it had a netty turtle neck, Jade loved it so, very much.
And wingy arms.

"This is it!" He muttered. "Perfect!" He applauded.

Zoey quickly went to bring the red jumpsuit along side a weitzman black heels which was, the best shoe in her boutique.

"Here, try this one bestie." Zoey proposed with a wide, toothless smile.
"An actress wore this on a film festival, recently. Isn't it amazing?"

Sapphire was happy at everything but Jade wire a stern frown.

"No way!"

"The cut is excellent and at least, my friend needs to look elegant and sexy--"

"Stop going on and on about being sexy!"Jade fired at her as if she was one of his employees. "Fire's my woman. She doesn't need to look sexy, okay?!"

Sapphire looked at him confusedly. She didn't like the way both of them were going about her dress but Jade moved closer to Zoey for a bit and then, whispered something to her ears.

"Have some consideration for Sapphire's chest size."

Zoey's eyes crawled to Sapphire's body. Just then, she noticed their wasn't enough boobs to show off and the jumpsuit was kind of wife at the front of it.

"You must be out of your mind, Jade!" Sapphire hissed at him.

"If you say so... I'll give up, then." Zoey muttered and took the stress and shoe, back into the room.

"W..what do you mean by he's right?" Sapphire stammered. Just say whatever to my face and stop whispering behind my back! I'll pick out my own dress. And that your mouth!" She pointed at Jade who was starting at her, awkwardly.
"Just do your jobs as employees, okay?!" She threatened and when to back into the change too.

On their way back home...

It was already night and Jade decided to drop Sapphire off before leaving.

"I love that sequin gown." Jade confessed with his eyes, still focused on the road.

"Sure, it's nice especially with that colour but it looked pretty similar to a nun's outfit, with the turtleneck and all."

"Haven't you ever seen The Sound of Music? Maria from that movie was so charismatic."

"No, I haven't, because I wasn't born around 1965."

"No .. I haven't. because I wasn't born around 1965." Jade mimicked her voice which provoked her a little. He loved the way she sounded, especially when she's pissed. A smirk rested on his lips while he focused on his driving.

The rest of the drive was a silent one until Jade packed his car and saw someone else standing next to his car.

It was Ace.

A surprised look clouded in Sapphire's eyes as she saw him, Jade too felt the same way but her wanted to know why Ace was still visiting.

"Wow! I'm sure I'm busy, these days." Sapphire started.

"You do know that this is all your fault, right?" She blamed Jade whom just rolled his eyes at his cousin's tall figure.

"Why are you here, again?"

"I came here to apologize. I'm sorry." Ace muttered in an apologetic mood.

"I don't think you're in a position to be getting angry right now. Sapphire muttered to Jade as they shared an eye contact, again.

"You're also guilty, Jade." She told him.

"I'm different from Ace, though." He replied her.

"We're dating after all." He reminded her.

"That's why you're even more guilty." She pointed out while Ace watched their drama.

"Stay here." She ordered. As she took Ace to a corner. Jade kept wondering if there was really nothing between them.
