Chapter 35: Jade Likes Sapphire's Style

Sapphire walked outside without looking back. Still pissed off about everything.

"How dare he disgrace me in front of his friend, making me look like a fool?" She asked herself as she walked even faster, but Jade grabbed her arm out of nowhere.

She jerked off immediately.

"What did you want again?! Why are you following me?" She cried to his face.

"Why do you walk so fast?" Jade asked, trying to catch up his breath.

It looked as if he had run to catch up with her. She stared at him disappointedly until he handed her, her bag.

She collected it immediately with a guilty look planted all over her.

"You have something to tell me, right?"

"No, I think you have something you need to explain to me!" She replied him.

Later, they found somewhere quiet to sit and discuss. Seated next to each other. Sapphire explained everything to him.

"Overhearing what I said secretly and making it obvious that what you did was pretty stupid, you know?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not a pro at pretending, you see. I guess it's because I'm just so tacky." Sapphire admitted.

"Her awkward confessions made Jade burst into laughter. I can't humiliate myself in front of your friend when were dating, so I had to leave." She explained further.

"I'll take care of that, so don't ever dress like this again." He warned.

"Then don't insult me behind my back again." She warned back.

"I wasn't insulting you." He retorted. "Why would I ever?"

"What did you call that then..? If it's not an insult? It's not as if you were praising me."

"You didn't hear all of what I said. Just part of it." He explained.

Hearing him say this made Sapphire wear a guilty look.

"Well... What did you say?" She asked sarcastically.

Later, they went into Zoey's boutique to buy new outing clothes.

Looking at Zoey from head to toe, she was wearing a baggy, black trouser a simple black and white printed shirt.

Zoey stared at him awkwardly as he watched her.

She looked at herself too, wondering if anything is wrong with her dressing. Well, it's just evident that they both dress similarly. Simple and tacky.

"Don't ever give Fire those kinds of clothes again, got it?" He warned.

“Why not?” Zoey scoffed. “It's super sexy and classy. Plus, it looked good on her.”

"No, it doesn't suit her at all. I hate that kind of looks on her. I don't want Fire wearing anything super transparent or exposing. Hope you get?"

"Listen. Aren't you being way too controlling? She's an independent adult, not some small kid. Plus, that style is one of the best in town. Only popular celebs dress like this nowadays." Zoey explained. "That dress is what every woman needs to wear, so why should Fire be excluded?"

"I don't care what other women do, my woman can't dress like that, got it?" He corrected and suddenly turned to Sapphire. He looked at her with amazement in his eyes.

"See? You look pretty now. This style suits you so well, you don't need to change your style for any reason, whatsoever!" He intoned.

Zoey wore a smug look at him... 'How come he didn't want her to dress stylish?' she wondered.

"The dress from before looked nice too. I like it." Sapphire explained.

"No, it didn't. It didn't fit you at all." He blurted and dragged her out of Zoey's boutique.

"Wait, my bag..." Sapphire muttered. She grabbed her bag, looking at Zoey, but Jade didn't want to spend any more minute with her. She looked at them with a sad look as they walked away.

"Just how close are you to her again!" He asked Sapphire as they walked out.

"Oh Gosh! Like seriously?!" Zoey whizzed at their disappearance. "Roman was so right! This Jade guy is super rude and arrogant. I wonder why you didn't marry Sapphire all these while." She hissed and then started laughing.

Well, it's a good thing. It looks as if Jade is into her anyway.

Later that day, at the chairman's mansion. Kate was with her father-in-law again. They shared a bottle of golden cherry wine when she asked.

"What kind of person is the woman that Jade has been seeing?"

"She has absolutely nothing to her name. Her parents are farmers, and she won't be able to help Jade out, business-wise, in any way. " The chairman explained.

"Then I don't understand why. Why you're trying to get in the way of Jade coming back to the main branch. You don't have to change your will for a girl, you know? If that's the case, then I oppose to it, father-in-law."

"Do you think he'll be dating her if he didn't like her? You should know your son by now... He's not the type to give his heart away easily, bit marry just anyone. Remember how he ended things with Chairman Charles's daughter, three years ago."

"So why would you..."

'There's something about that girl that none of us have, Kate. She's just like your late, mother-in-law. Jade may come back to the main branch with time, but there's nothing to worry yourself about." He assured.

Eating dinner at home, Sapphire looked at the starry sky and remembered what happened earlier that day.

"You didn't hear all of what I said. Just part of it." He explained.

Hearing him say this made Sapphire wear a guilty look.

"Well... What did you say?" She asked sarcastically.

"I like you because you're plain, Fire. It's fine that you're a bit tacky, too. I like you for who you are, Fire, not who you want to be because of me. I don't know about others but that how I feel about you." Jade confessed.

Sapphire wanted to say something, but she was confused at the moment.

"I was right about one thing." He stared deep into her eyes, intensely. It had the shade of the sky and ocean; deep, pondering and unreadably blue.

"You're a fox. You know that, right? And you're a real wily one, at that."

“Thank you. But is that's all your own personal preference?" She asked, transparently.

Jade smiled for a while. “That's true. But still, don't walk around half-naked. I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest." He explained.

Wearing a wide, toothy smile and eating chicken, Zoey wore a stupid look at her.

"Are you happy because the chicken is just so delicious or is it because of that jerked face CEO?" Zoey started.

"I'm obviously happy that God loves me. He loves me so much that I can't stop smiling." She joked.

"Good for you." Zoey muttered and watched her friend vacantly smile. "How dare you, Fire? How dare you get a man for yourself, Huh? You dirty, rotten traitor! You should have gotten a man for your bestie as well! I mean, didn't Jade have friends?"

"Hey, shut up, okay?" Sapphire warned, pointing the lap of chicken at Zoey. "Only God knows how many time you've betrayed me as a friend and a sister. Also, all this is artificial. Well, I know that we're dating and all, but don't forget that there's also a deadline."

"Sure, sure. Whatever!" Zoey took Sapphire's phone and scrolled through the contact details.

"And what are you doing with my phone?" Sapphire quirted an eyebrow.

"It won't be good if I keep fighting with your boyfriend so, I need to give him a proper apology." Zoey explained.

That evening, Zoey sent a childhood picture of Sapphire's prom dress. She looked classy and very beautiful. Jade was working in the office when he got the message on telegram.

'Here's a little something as my apology. After everything, it's nice to see her in things like this. When it's for your eyes only, right?'

Jade stared at the picture over and over again. Her beautiful curved body were transparent in the gown, but she looked so adorable.

Jade zoomed in the picture. She looked so cute in it.
