Chapter 23: Love Hates

"Sapphire!" Gabriel called, making Sapphire startled.
"Oh! My Gabby, you're here already? When did you arrive?" Her blue eyes raked over his tall figure with so much excitement.
"I brought this for you." He faced a small bouquet of flowers to her.
"What's this?" She looked at him awkwardly. Then she woke up from the thought with a pretty smile across her face.
"You bought me flowers? That's so sweet of you." She happily collected it as Gabby took his seat. The flowers were the mixture of Red, green and blue which were kind of awkward colours, but it had a nice fragrance, Sapphire liked it.
"Hey darling, you don't need to give me things like this. The fan club's president should be buying you flowers, not the other way round." She explained to him.
"When I become a real star, I'll send you a huge flower arrangements every Saturday morning." He smiled. "That reminds me... There's something important I really want to say?"
Sapphire looked at him, concerned.
"I want to say thank you. You're the best gift life has given me so far. The attorney assured me that I won't have to worry about anything. And he said they gave me an illegal contract so, he settled everything. I feel really happy right now, I can't thank you enough."
"I'd still seriously consider burying that until your issue is solved." She cursed.
"What issue are you burying?" Gabby asked, concerned.
"Oh, it's nothing. Just don't mind me." She smiled and hissed again. "It's just an unfortunate fate I've come across!"
She looked at Gabby, he was already feeling alone.
"Don't worry my dear, everything would be alright. All you have to do is to work more on your talent and study harder. I was told that attorney Lucas is one of the best in the whole of America. Also, make sure you properly review your contract next time, before signing or agreeing to anything with another agency, okay?"
"Yes I will." He replied her with his dimpled smile. "That's why I want to take time by studying really hard. Especially now that I'm less busy."
"That's a good one, Gabby." She praised him. "Is there anything you want to ask me? Did you complete the books from last time?"
"Oh yeah!" He unzipped his backpack and brought out some books.
"I need explanations on some topics. The words are just so confusing." He opened the first book and flipped through the pages as he explained to her.
Jade was about to attend the meeting when his phone rang. He checked the screen and saw, the general. He dropped his phone on the table and went into the conference room.
Meanwhile, Sapphire dialed his contract, but he wasn't there to pick. When she called him over and over again, he didn't picking up. Jade leaves his phone in his office whenever he's having a meeting to hold. This is because he's the CEO, and he hates any form of disturbances.
"We are working together with the people in Hawaii right now towards an MOU to purchase the land for the new facility." Mr. Tim reported.
"Alright then, that's good news. Let's end our meeting here, for today." Jade ordered.
"And as for the land concerning the new hotel, let's get a contract signed by the end of next month. That would be all for today." Jade dropped his form and took a file out of the meeting room. He then, stopped halfway.
"That reminds me, General Manager. Does our hotel's French restaurant not offer any simple à la carte dishes? Do they only offer price fixed options?" He asked with his thick eyebrows, knotting in unison.
"Yes sir." The general manager replied to him bluntly. A sad look played on the CEO's face before he walked out.
Meanwhile, Sapphire has been calling him like crazy. He saved her name with her nickname, Fire.
"Oh, now he's avoiding me? Can you imagine, he's not even picking my calls." She taunted to the thought playing in her mind. "He seems like the type that has no morals, though. I'm not surprised if he decides to end all of these!" She hissed bitterly.
Then, Gabby who returned the books back to the librarian, came back and took his seat in front of her. He noticed the worry on Sapphire's face and decided to say something.
"Let's go and eat something delicious, sis. You've got no plans for today, right?"
"Umm... I'll have to see someone today." Sapphire replied.
"Who?"
"Just someone. A random guy you don't know. His heart is as dark as the devil's shadows, and he's got no good attitude. He's just like a student to me so, I have to work really hard to shape him into a decent human being." She explained.
It all sounded weird to Gabby.
"Maybe I don't really need to see him." Sapphire smiled awkwardly.
"Let's go. As your sister-- No, as the president of your fan club, I'd buy you something super delicious." She promised.
Hearing her say this, Gabby had an excited expression on his cute face. Sapphire had a pretty smile on, too.
"Come on, let's go and have lunch. It's been a while." She uttered to him as they took their bags and left the library.
Jade got into his office and saw 10 missed calls.
"OMG! She called?" He whispered to himself, not knowing Mr. Tim was beside him, observing Jade's expression as he scrolled through his phone.
Jade swiped to his telegram account and saw her messages. She sent him a message.
Fire (12:56 p.m): You missed my calls, and you're not even replying my messages?! Ugh!!...
She sent a couple of annoying stickers to him, but it looked funny. Jade couldn't stop beaming in his charming smile. Mr. Tim knew something was up and was about to leave when Miss Barbara opened the door.
"CEO Jade, What about lunch?" She asked, but his attention was on Sapphire's messages.
Mr. Tim took Barbara out as they went for lunch.
Then he dialed her number. They decided to meet in a restaurant.
"What's going on? It haven't been a week yet, and you're drooling over me?" Sapphire frowned at him with an eagle eye.
Seeing her pissed off like this made him feel happy. A broad smile lits up his face but he tried to cover it up with a smirk.
"Oh, yeah. You better not stomp on me again the way you did last night. I won't stand it again, you know! Misbehaving with me is unacceptable!" Jade warned.
"Hello, there or Good afternoon, lady. It's quite hot today, isn't it? You got home safely last night, right? Did you sleep well? Its proper manners to start off with pleasantries like these. Don't you know?" She corrected.
Jade grinned at her as he took a sip of hot coffee. It burnt his mouth as she jerked off.
Without a sorry, Sapphire continued.
"Didn't they teach you that in elementary school? You make me feel as if my students are well-mannered than you. Also, with your burnt, blabbing tongue, you're not in the position to be yelling at me right now." She added.
Ring! Ring!! Ring!!!
It was Jade's phone. He brought out his phone from the side of the pocket and saw, Chairman Charles. He quickly cut the call and placed his phone back into his pocket again, but the chairman called.
Trenchant as hell, Jade clicked all the side buttons of his phone at once, making his phone sound like an electronic robot breaking down. He looked so sullen and irritated. If he was in his office, he wouldn't have hesitated to slam the screen of his phone against the wall but because he was in a public area, he managed.
"Hey!" Sapphire banged the table to get this attention. He looked at her like a naughty student in class, and she looked at him like a serious teacher, being disturbed.
"You knew those reporters were there, didn't you? And that they'd write articles about me, didn't you?"
"Well, I wasn't entirely sure. That's why I warned you beforehand! I told you not to look at me or smile at me, remember?!"
"You didn't tell me things like this will happen?! Even before I signed the contract, you should have informed me! As you said--"
"I'll take the full responsibility if the press releases information about us." He assured.
"Go ahead and take responsibility, then." She hissed and eyeballed Jade like a piece of shit.
"What are you insinuating? I thought you didn't want to marry me. And I definitely won't marry you, got that?!" Jade warned. "You're so fucking annoying! Apart from that, I hate teachers except for my grandma! Again, I hate women who just kick me like it's nothing! You have no self-respect, Fire!" He spat on her face and took another sip of coffee.
This time, he sipped it slowly. Not wanting his numb tongue to burn more.
"Did I say let's get married? Huh? Did I? You just keep complicating things! I never said we should get married. And why are you so self-centred? You find it so hard to apologize to people you've offended. You still don't realize what you did wrong?"
"No I don't." Jade spelled out.
Then he turned to her with a bright smile. "Was it because of that.... kiss? You're acting crabby because you didn't expect that on our first date, right? I'm sure it must have felt nice for you too, though. OMG! You should have seen your face, you looked so shocke-"
About to complete the last sentence, Sapphire kicked him hard on his leg.
"Ow!" He grabbed his leg to the pain.
She looked at him, irritatedly. Jade was too uptight to say any more word. He just placed his head on the table.
