EVERYONE COULD PIN POINT THE EXACT MOMENT in Lily Evans' eyes of when she broke and shattered. Her heart like shards of glass that were once whole before being carelessly dropped on the ground to be scattered on the floor, tip toed around, then swept up to then be thrown and tossed out at a later time.

Mila sat on Maisie's bed as Lily sobbed in the middle of the floor, Marlene and Mary surrounded her aiding with comfort. Marls' arms wrapped around Lily as Mary held tissues and candy, pouting at her friend. "It's ok Lily, we warned you! You don't need that dick anyway!" Marlene seethed as Lily let out another howl, "After everything I did for him and his- his giant, giant thick head! He knew! He knew he was on ice! Throwing- throwing it all away just to look cool in front, in front of his stu- stupid friends!"

It was now Friday, the month of March due to end just next week. Remus had been missing for a few days, and it seemed to have been a continuous reoccurrence. Sobs flooded the room as Lily's tears stained the rug and Marlene's robe. The sun set just off the window as classes were out and dinner was to be held soon, but the only thing on everyone's minds was how Lily Evans were to recover of the escalating incident of that afternoon.

Maisie cleared her throat, "Lily they're both sick, sick and stupid, especially Snape, calling you a-a- a..., well. Lily we all knew something would happen, snotty boys are never to be trusted!"

"Oh Maisie just stop! He was my first ever friend here you know, he wasn't all that bad-"
"Lily!" Mary fumed, "He called you something you should never hear coming from your own friends mouth! Stop trying to justify him when he's the reason your crying on the floor for!" Lily lifted her head out of Marlene's shoulder as everyone watched her with steady eyes, "He's not the only reason!" she breathed for a couple of seconds as the room stood still, "Potter was as completely out of his lane as-"  Marlene now scoffed, "Lily, please listen to me, I know your sad, I know your heart broken but James Potter was giving what that bum deserved!"

Mila still sat on the bed, watching the scene that hung from condolences to scolding, sure she was there when it happened, but she was frozen as she saw what happened. She knew it wasn't right to hang the boy from his feet in horror in front of practically what could've seemed like hundreds of people, but she did hear how Severus Snape acted when he wasn't around Lily. Rude and callous, bullying those near him just to seem cool, no one liked him 'cause of so. Sure the Marauders, a named that has been adopted by annoyed Professors, could be rude, but not as rude as him, and from the countless stories she's heard from Sirius or Remus they awfully seemed sorry if they ever hurt anyone.

She wasn't sure if it was her right to be in that room, her moves to gain a closer friendship resulted in witnessing a fight. The worst fights, she had noticed in her life, were those to be between friends, family, or those between close people. The worst fights were those that broke those people up, she knew how much of an influence others put on each other, because loosing those who seemed to be a large portion of what could be your whole world, stung like fresh infected wounds. It wasn't that much of a fight either, just a quick bicker, with stinging words, bellowed through the campus fields.

But it was only ten words that it took to ruin the image of Severus Snape that Lily Evans held in her head.

But it was only ten words that made the crowds of kids gasp, and the cruelest of Slytherins snicker.

But it was only ten words that made James Potter knew he must change, because if Lily Evans saw him as just as bad as the boy who dared to utter them, then something was truly wrong.

ONE HOUR PRIOR

A splash entered the lake as the last rock to be skipped plopped beneath the water. Mila and Maisie had decided to hang out with Lily and her friends that day, taking a break from their own fill of drama to hear Lily and Mary's excitement and banter of how the idea of a dance or ball had been passed. The girls skipped rocks after a tiring day of fake O.W.L. exams to prepare for the months yet to come. They all laughed competitively as Marlene jumped with joy for skipping hers the farthest, beating Maisie's record.

"You did that on pure luck!" Maisie complained, her Irish slightly came out in her accent. "No I just upped my skill!" Marlene emitted.

Only Mary heard Lily angrily mutter "Oh my godric," as she stormed off behind them uphill. "Woah, woah, Lily wait!" Mary shouted garnering the three other girl's attention as they turned around. Mila noticed the crowd of people that begun circling in by her usual tree. "Oh fuck," Marlene mumbled, taking hold of Mai's and Mila's hands, as they chased down the other two girls uphill. As they got closer Mila noticed the fairly unpopular Severus Snape, pink foam erupting from his mouth, hexed in front of the tree as James Potter's arm and wand out stretched towards him, Sirius and Peter closely behind him snickering.

"Leave him ALONE!" she could hear Lily bellow, half the crowd's attention now focusing on her. Mary took hold of Lily's arm trying to calm her down.

By the time the three of them finally got to Lily's side, she had been spluttering out rude comments to James as he voiced he'd stop if she'd only fulfill his wish of going out with him. "I'd never go out with you if I'd have to choose between you and a giant squid!" she spat, her face glowing with anger as deep as her hair. Just then Mila watched frozen as a gash appeared on James' face, staining his robes, he quickly whirled around as Snape lost his balance, being flung and held in the air by his measly foot.

His robes and clothing falling over his head as his underpants showed and his greasy hair gravitated towards the ground. For a second Mila noticed how Lily's lips twitched to where they were slightly upturned before quickly reverting to its cold stoned expression. "Let him down now, Potter!" she demanded. James released him as he fell too the ground, students laughing when Sirius quickly snapped him with another hex, having his upper body fold over himself toppling into the ground.

Mila had to admit the scene was quite funny as she pursed her lips keeping herself from uncovering her smile. "I SAID TO LEAVE HIM ALONE!" Lily yelled. "Oh Lily, c'mon don't make me hex you as well," Sirius beckoned. "Then take the curse off of him!" James sighed deeply, turning to Snape he stopped to catch Sirius' glanced before clearly uttering a counter spell. "Well a'ight Snivellus, you're lucky Evans was here to help-"

"I don't need help from filthy little mudbloods like her!"

You could hear the whoosh of everyone's heads as they snapped towards Lily. Her jaw clenched as her body tensed, frozen into disbelief. Her bottom lip slightly quivered as her fingers dug into her palm making fists that rest beside her thighs. But her eyes, they grew icy and wet, almost glacial as the color of lime changed to something unrecognizable, she felt like the roof of her whole word collapse and caved in on her. She finally gulped, letting out a shaky breath, slowly blinking, "Fine then. Next time don't expect me to bother with you in the future. And if I were you I'd wash your robes...Snivellus."

Snapes eyes widened as his face grew even paler than his already fair skin. James was quite the opposite, in fact he was fuming as his face blowed up red, eyes squinted with furrow brows. "You apologize right now you putz!" James barked, closing in on Snape as he towered above his cowardly figure. He was instead pulled back by Lily's forceful hand as she had a pointed look, "I don't want you to make him apologize." she said disgusted.

"In fact, your a giant, huge git! Your arrogant and conceited, the way you ruffle your hair to look like you just got off your broom, bullying everyone every where you go!"
"I would NEVER call you a, you-know-what!-" James opened his mouth to counter the last statement but Lily kept cutting him off, "No! You disgust me Potter! You both make me SICK." she spluttered, taking hold of Mary and Marlene's hand the lead the girls up the castle, trying to not break down on her way as she did so.

Mila was the last to follow the girls as she kept eye contact with James and Sirius, a look of sympathy in her eyes. But now was not the time to fraternize with them, now was the time to comfort her friend.

It was about seven o'clock as Mila returned her dorm. Serenity brought down her new copy of Witch weekly from her face. "I hate to do this Mila, but we've run out of... you know,  and we need to go to get some from the hospital wing! Preferably now because Ruby's stuck in the bathroom!" she whispered the last part. "Well couldn't you have done it by now?" Mila questioned slightly annoyed, setting down her satchel and taking off her robe. "Well she asked me to ask you when you got back so that she wouldn't bother me!" Serenity quickly explained.

Mila sighed taking pity on her friend as she tossed her robe and bag on the desk chair before leaving the room once again.

"You owe me Rubes!" she yelled, shutting the door behind her.

Mila quietly slipped into the infirmary, her steps made loud by the entirely still wing, yet the room seemed to empty. "Madam Pomfrey?" she called, yet availed to no answer. She went down the lines of hospital beds, peeking through the ones with no curtains. She walked eerily slow as the old blue curtains whisked behind her, steps echoing off the walls. As she made her way down the last end of the rows of stations she peeked into a half open one, continuing on before back tracking her way back to it.

  "Remus?"

Her voice came out hushed with a whisper, as she fiddled with the tip of her tie. Remus grew pale with fear as his lifted his head to see her, the book in his hands dropping. Though there were few they were large, his shirt off exposing deep bandage gashes along his chest and stomach, treated with gauze. He quickly pulled up the sheets to cover himself. "Mils-" he croaked, "Why, why are you here?" his voice was grainy, his brows furrowed. She blinked, "I uhm, I needed to get something, what's happened to you?" she asked concerned, changing the subject as she walked inside the curtain enclosed space.

Remus already had his usual answer incase anyone were to question in a situation just as this. "I was playing around with Peter, accidently fell into rose bushes, it's- it's nothing really."

"It didn't look like nothing, are you ok?"

"Yes, yes I'm fine I'll be good by tomorrow."

"Remus are you sure they didn't look-"

"I'll be just fine, I promise, just in time to go watch the quidditch game with you all," Remus said, immediately regretting the fact that he implied he'd be with her watching quidditch, but he desperately needed to shift the attention off of his wounds. She now quirked her eyebrow, "Is that an invitation to go watch quidditch with you?" she asked. "Uhm-well, I guess, yes, yes, I mean if that's a'ight," Remus now seemed to be regretting his statement less.

She giggled, "Sure, is it fine if I invite Ida? She loves quidditch," she said softly. Remus nodded as Mila slowly left the room upon hearing the loud shut of the huge doors. An astute Madam Pomfrey headed down the lane, now seeing Mila.

"Hello Miss," Mila cleared her throat, now whispering in embarrassment as she knew Remus could be listening, "Could I get some pads? We've run out." Madam Pomfrey chuckled at her embarrassment before nodding, "Yes dear, I'll go fetch you some wait right here." She watched as she walked off into another room, herself returning back to Remus' side.

He still was covering himself, knowing if she were to be suspicious and find out she'd surely rid of him right away. She sat herself on the edge of the mattress towards the middle, she fiddled with her hands as she set them in her lap. "You know you said it again?" she smiled, turning to meet Remus' eyes.

  "Said what?"

  "Mils," she raised her eyebrows.

Remus perked up, "Hey, if you get to have a nickname, why can't I?"

"You already have a nickname," she rolled her head.

"Then why don't you use it?"

"Moony can't quite naturally roll of my tongue, Remus."

"A'ight then just think of another one."

  "Rem." She spat sarcastically.

"Wow haven't heard that one in a while." he told seriously.

"You mean no one ever, calls you Rem? That seems like it should be quite common"

"They do, maybe once every six months, the mostly just say Remmy if anything."

"Ah, then I shall call you Remmy!" she grinned

"Do not!" he shuddered, shaking his head. "Aw why not?" she asked. "I hate that name!" Mila rolled her eyes playfully, "Why so?"  "It's too kiddish, just too- they use it to piss me off," he tried explaining. "Rem it is." Mila confirmed.

Madam Pomfrey now entered the space, eyeing down Mila in question of Remus' brand new welcomed visitor. She got up as Madam Pomfrey held two brown containers in her hand. Mila was thankful they were glowing with the words 'feminine products' as she faced her elder. "These should do you good for the next month!" she said, handing them over.  "Thank you much, Madam Pomfrey!" she thanked, exiting the expanse. "Night Rem, get better," she toyed, waving off with her free hand.

Madam Pomfrey now filled a small glass with red liquid handing it to Remus for him to drink. He quickly downed it, it's terrible flavor burning his mouth, he always regularly took it during times like this, it helped him sleep. "She's quite a lovely girl, very sweet whenever she comes in," she stated, taking the glass from him and setting it aside in a drawer before reapplying the gauze back on. Remus looked at Madam Pomfrey quickly before looking through the opened curtains of where she last stood, he sighed.

  "Yeah, she's lovely."
