Chapter Thirty Five: Normal

With Vale's help I was able to shift into my wolf and back into my human form with ease.

I was worried about him seeing me naked but he was more of a gentlman (not that I didn't already know that) and too concerned for my health and saftey to ogle me.

"Are you alright?" He asked worriedly as I made my way back to him once I was fully into a set of pajamas and robe.

I nodded, "Feel fine...better than ever to be honest."

He caressed my face with his large hand, "You ready to go back in then?"

I shook my head, "Can we just sit out here for a moment?"

He nodded.

I walked over to one of the benches and he took a seat next to me.

"When we get back to the pack I don't want to be treated like an invalid."

He nodded, "Fine by me."

"I mean it...I know you, you're going to try and give me less work." I pointed out, "And right now we have so much we need to catch up on."

"I don't want to stress you out." He admitted.

"Seeing you stressed out will stress me out...let me help you, and together we will get it all done...also if it's alright...I'd like to meet the baby, have you selected a name for her?"

He nodded, "Shelby named her Joy...she's cute."

I smiled, I couldn't help but imagine him carrying a baby and I damn near swooned.

"Well I can't wait to meet your little Joy." I said, unable to keep the smile from my face.

He blushed every so slightly and smiled sheepishly, "I've been calling her Strawberry Shortcake...because she so small and smells like strawberries."

"Okay...That's adorable."

He set back with a sigh and gently pulled me into his side, I was too short to rest my head on his shoulder so instead I sort of hugged his torso, my head fell perfectly alongside his heart, and I peacfully listened to his heartbeat.

"Promise me one thing..." He said softly.

I looked up at him.

"Please take care of yourself before you try and take care of Joy and I...we do need you Jessa, but we're gonna need you at your healthiest."

I nodded, "I promise so long as you take care of yourself too..." I said and touched his tired face, "Selfishly I miss your handsome face without worry and dark circles...but more importantly the pack needs you at your own healthiest."

He smiled and kissed my finger tips before he hugged me back against his chest, and I was so wrapped in content hapiness that I could've stayed that way forever.

"Why didn't anyone call me?" My mom shouted, but looking right at Vale.

I rolled my eyes, "Because I asked them not to...I didn't want to deal with any drama first thing upon waking up." I countered.

She seemed to cool down some as she took a seat. Vale had moved to the window seat and to be honest my wolf was a little sad to have him so far away from me all of a sudden.

"Mom I'm fine, I shifted this morning and I'm just waiting on the Doctor to be released."

"Jessa, you were in an accident, you need to make sure you take it easy." She said.

"I understand that I was in an accident, but like I said...I'm good, when we get back to the pack I will go back to work and I'll be doing everything that I was doing before the accident."

"And you're okay with this?" She asked Vale.

He looked at me and smiled before looking at my mom, "This is up to Jessa and how she feels, she's too stubborn to stop anyways...but I'll do my job to make sure she doesn't over do it."

"And will you two just move in together now?" Mom asked boldly.

I blushed, Vale and I haven't even officially become a couple and he sure as shit hadn't asked me to move in with him.

"I...I think I'll stay at home for awhile...we don't want to shake things up too much." I said trying to be honest and also not hurt Vale's feelings in anyway.

"And you two...?"  She quetioned.

"We're together," Vale said without hesitation. "I honestly think we were always meant to be together." He added as he walked over to the bed and took my hand into his.

"There may be some that talk." She tried to warn.

I looked at her, "We don't care, Vale and I know the truth of our actions and our feelings...the situation is we both had mates, and they both passed away...we can't help that we were brought together, or that we love each other."

"We will be mindful of our actions and limit our affections for one another to more private spaces for a while...it isn't our intention to upset or disrepesct anyone."

She nodded, "you kids have a long road a head of you, I don't see how this relationship can work without upsetting those close to Shelby."

"Everything will work itself out Mom...you say it all the time, everything happens for a reason."

"I hope for both of your sakes this will work out... you're both too young to know so much sadness and deserve a bit of happiness."

After that the Doctor had come in and released me with the promise of taking care of myself by listening to my body, not pushing myself too far, get lots of rest, and shifting more frequently (once a day for two weeks straight) just to help work out any soreness or bruising

Afterward My mom and Vale left the room so I could get dressed, and once finished I was wheeled out of the hospital and over to Vale's car. "I could've walked." I said.

As Vale thanked the nurse before helping me into the passenger seat."When did your car get here?" I asked, worried he'd driven himself...he wasn't in a good place to drive himself here, he'd just lost his mate and I was (from what I was told) in a coma.

"When I got here..." He laughed a little, "My sister drove us down here in my car, but She had either my brother or Flora pick her up from the hospital at some point." He filled me in before closing the door and paying the Valet.

I had to admit I felt less worried knowing one of his sisters drove him down here.

With my mom in the back seat Vale let himself into the drivers seat and soon we took off.

I was so glad to finally be going home.

I sat comfortably next to Vale and then he put the car into drive before reaching over and taking my hand into his.

The music played low and my heart was full as we rode home.
