56) Of Hi and Hello

After the first break we're in Wolfy's POV, so the italic thoughts are Jimin speaking.

<><><>
Date: January 13th
Time: 11:00am
Location : Jimin's house
Mood: Move bitch get out the way 🎶
<><><>

That morning Hobi arrived at the Park household with Yoongi. Behind them the zombie-like image of Jungkook slouched in, glaring with as much energy as one could at 11am on a Saturday morning. The alpha male of the household had noticed some odd behavior from his youngest pack member's wolf lately and wanted to keep him close at full moon. He theorized that it was only the teenager's already raging hormones getting in the way and making Jungkook's life harder, as he could recall some similar interactions with his other brothers around this same age.

Or it could be the intense training the kid had suddenly thrown his body into. Jin had been serious about wanting him to exercise more and spend less time gaming, but no one had expected the high levels of energy and rage Jungkook had displayed as he threw himself into training his body. But of course, although these were actions of a maturing young man growing into adulthood, his brothers still thought he was the cutest thing ever.

To Namjoon, Jin, Hoseok, Jimin, Yoongi and Taehyung, Jungkook was the essence of virtue. Innocence. The purest wolf and child ever known to man. Virginal. Mary had nothing on Jungkook.

And what that pure man-child wanted right now was to go back to sleep. Mr Park bid them farewell as he was leaving the house that they were entering. Jungkook managed a polite bow before kicking his shoes off and trudging into the living room where a fidgety Jimin was sat on the couch. Without a word, the youngest dropped down next to him, laying his head on his hyung's lap. He grabbed Jimin's hand and instructed him without verbalization that he wanted his hair to be stroked as he went back to sleep.

Jimin obliged, of course, because this was their sinless, sweet baby Jungkook.

...They were all blind to the fact that the young man was actually pretty evil.

"How's everything?" Hobi had recently dyed his hair so that it let off an earthy, auburn glow. It was parted in the middle so that it framed his heart shaped face, exhibiting the ridiculously beautiful forehead that the strands would usually hide.

After casting a glance at his best friend, Yoongi had to look elsewhere because he already simped hard enough for Hobi as it was.

"Fine, I guess." Jimin said, but it was an understatement. Really, he was fine, but really, he felt like dying.

Already they were feeling the affects of the impending full moon. As this time of month made all of their senses go into hyperdrive, bright lights and bold colors irritated their eyes, high pitched sounds were unbearable to their ears, and every ache and itch in their bodies was highly noticeable. On top of that, for Jimin and Namjoon, there was an extreme primal urge to find their mate and protect, to see, touch, smell and mark them.

It was through years of training, and the bond and love they felt for their soulmates that kept Y/n and Kitty protected from that last act happening without their approval. To mark your soulmate without consent was something akin to rape in their culture, and this was the main reason for why Hoseok held the responsibility of watching over them.

Him being here was a good thing. Jimin was very aware of that. Yet on the inside, our gentle pacifist Wolfy had his hackles raised at the alpha wolf on his territory, in his den, with the intention of keeping him from his mate. He would never hurt his marshmallow, ever.

However, if she wanted him to mark her, he would. Never mind what Jimin wanted. Too soon, his paw. What his baby wanted, his baby got.

Hoseok stared, the area around his eyes hardening as he took Jimin in. That scowl the younger man was casting his way was all too familiar. Namjoon always got so territorial on full moons and especially abhorred Hobi being anywhere near Kitty. Knowing how Jimin was going to respond to his next words helped the older male to mentally prepare beforehand.

The tip of his tongue sucked against his teeth briefly before he casually uttered, "Y/n."

The response was immediate, and Hobi was surprised that the only thing he got was a low growl and a heavier glare from Jimin. His wolf had always been more docile, but the alpha had figured his mate would bring out an aggressive side to him. Namjoon would have been foaming at the mouth by now.

It was impressive. Maybe he didn't have to babysit him after all.

"Get the fuck out."

Then again, it would be wise to keep an eye on this situation.

Yoongi cackled sadistically, suddenly glad that his life was a shit hole and that mentally, he was struggling to keep his head above water and not let himself drown in his misery. It all brought him here! To a perfect opportunity where he could do one of his favorite things!

Pick on Jimin.

He cupped his hands around his mouth and chanted, "Loser!" helpfully from the background.

"The only thing I want for your mate is to keep her safe." The alpha placated in an icy voice. "Reign in your wolf or I'll do it for you."

"Reign it in, bitch!" Yoongi jeered. Hobi turning into Hoseok was a scary thing, but thankfully, Yoongi was here to 'lighten' the mood.

"Shut-up!" Jimin snapped. From his lap, Jungkook whined tiredly. In all the drama, his hyung had stopped petting his hair.

Throwing a glare at Yoongi, the thunder ass werewolf we all know and love directed his attention back to his alpha. "You're right and I'm sorry. I don't know why I woke up irritated but I need to be more in control by the time she gets here. Can you help me blow off some steam?"

At Hobi's affirming nod and a closed lipped smile to indicate all was forgiven, Jimin jabbed at his sleeping dongsaeng's shoulder. "C'mon, kook, wake up."

"Mm." The younger male grunted. He couldn't be bothered to be up so early on a weekend. Everyday was up early for school, homework, chores and other unmentionably nefarious behaviors the teen got up to. But Saturday was a sacred day of rest. Nothing anyone could say would get him to wake fully and get up—

"Let's go for a jog!" Hobi chirped.

BUT FUCK THAT, JUNGKOOK COULDN'T WAIT TO SHOW OFF HIS SHREDDED CORE! He was on his feet in nine trillion, one hundred and ninety two million, six hundred and thirty one thousand, seven hundred and seventy oscillations of a cesium-133 atom.

Or something.

"H-hi, um, uh—oppa?"

Wolfy froze at the sound of his mate's entrance. The creak of the front door opening, the rustle of a bag, the sound of her removing her shoes, and then another, muffled movement that he thought might be her bowing in greeting. She'd only just walked into his den and already each of his senses was attuned acutely to her.

Namjoon's wolf and Kitty were conversing in the opposite bedroom—it sounded a lot like he was begging her to let him mark her and promising to be a 'good wolf'— but Wolfy ignored them easily. His mate was out there with not only an alpha wolf, but two other unmated males. Suddenly his decision to stay back here was deemed a terrible idea.

Jimin had brought them back to his room because he had been thinking with his Jimin brain, rather than his more sophisticated Wolfy brain. Though that decision would have been a good one if his human counterpart was in control during the full moon. Jimin wouldn't have been able to stop himself from launching into her arms the moment he saw her. Wolfy, however, was the one in the driver's seat tonight and he knew better than to run out there and grab her.

The level of affection he desperately wanted to give his mate may explode when he finally has her in eye sight. Doing so in front of a crowd of witnesses would turn his usually shy girlfriend into an absolute mess that would take her some time to recover from.

Also she would be angry with him. And a mad marshmallow was a scary marshmallow. For such a small woman, it was weird to him that she even had that temper hidden inside. She was so tiny and her cuteness was almost at bursting point. Where did it fit?

All of these thoughts came to a crashing halt when it hit him. The way she smelled.

Being several rooms over did little to keep her scent from drifting across the premises and coming into contact with his sensitive nose. Before it's arrival he had worried that it would control all of his instincts and cause him to act out in a crazy manner. Like locking her up to keep her all to himself, or giving in and marking her like she wanted.

But. It wasn't like that at all. In fact the total opposite took place, in which it completely relaxed him. His jaw went slack and the muscles of his back and shoulders loosened up as he unashamedly inhaled. Warmth and blue Pacific Ocean assured him that she was safe and here, in his life and heart. She was going to live there rent free for the rest of their years.

Then there was the sweet wildflowers that were gentle and delicate and so very Y/n. Her red cheeks and soft edges and tender heart. Beautiful. Strong. That was what he loved most about her. Her strength. If he hadn't been through his own forms of loss he might have been more intimidated with the way she carried that weight and still found it possible to smile. But he supposed that's why they were soul mates—she understood what that empty space in his life meant because she had one similar.

As her steps drew closer, the faster his heart pounded and he couldn't keep the excited grin from brightening his face. Hoseok's voice drifted down the hall and it sounded as though he were walking her this way. This worried Wolfy, even if he knew the alpha wouldn't harm Y/n. Rather than dwell on it, he focused on the inevitability that she would be safe with him in a matter of moments and that thought made him more giddy.

If he was in his body, his tail would have been a blur when she knocked lightly and peeked around the door as it slowly opened. He attempted to curtail the huge grin that nearly shut his eyes—closing them would mean not seeing his mate—But was unsuccessful in that endeavor.

There was a small chuckle from her and her own barely contained smile as she finally slipped into the room and let the door close behind her.

"Hi." She said shyly, the upper portion of her sock covered feet tapping against one another.

Tonight was different from the usual. Now it was his turn to flush red and avert his gaze. That didn't work for long, as his eyes couldn't help but to seek her out. Y/n had always been beautiful, but on the full moon where every sense was enhanced, she was blindingly gorgeous. Talking to her like this was sort of intimidating.

"Hello." He replied with a blush. He reached out tentatively with the intention of taking her hand, but then retracted quickly, not wanting to seem too desperate.

"What's wrong?" The gentleness to her voice was enough to drive him crazy with want for hearing more. But he had to play this cool. He was the calm one. Not psycho like Jimin.

Yah!

"Nothing." He was quick to assure her, afraid that she would think she had done something wrong. In his eyes, Y/n was never wrong until it came to when she would doubt herself. "I am really, very happy that you're here."

The color of her cheeks deepened as she hid a smile behind a hand. "You're...Wolfy, right? Sorry—that's a stupid question."

"It's not!" He interjected, the corner of his mouth tilting downward. "Nothing you say is stupid. It's cute. You're," their eyes met and his face burned so fiercely he had to look away again, "always cute."

Neither could look at the other. Because of this, he missed the stupidly gigantic smile on her face.

"Come in! And—and get comfortable." Wolfy stumbled over his words, embarrassed that he had been caught ogling at his mate instead of welcoming her in.

At his invitation, she walked closer. She dropped her bag at the end of his bed and he fumbled around to help her remove her coat before throwing it hazardously over the dresser. The layer of clothing had hidden a special cache of more of her scent, this time accompanied with the smell of roasted sweet potatoes. His throat felt dry and he swallowed thickly at the unexpectedly mouthwatering smell.

Before things treaded into dangerous territory, he rushed away to hang her coat in the closet. There was no need to hang it up like this, so proper and all, but there was a lot of things that Wolfy wanted to see, and one of those was seeing his mate's clothes hanging up next to his own. For just a second he could imagine that they would always remain so. That she didn't have go home tomorrow morning and that they could play house together for a little longer. They could eat breakfast together every morning. Then they'd kiss and head off in separate directions to work, but at the end of the day, they could rejoin again.

He hated that they spent so much time apart. Being with Jimin all the time was boring.

Hey!

"Wolfy." Y/n was calling him.

It was difficult, not slamming the closet door closed and running over to see what she needed. As calmly as he could he let the door click shut and turned to regard her, a nervous sweat making his palms clammy.

"Y-yes?"

There was a slight frown on her face as she took him in. Whatever it was that she had noticed however was brushed aside and her arms spread wide, a look of sadness and a touch of vulnerability in her expression.

"Where's my hugs?"

Something in their eye communication just then clicked and as it did so, all of his apprehension melted away. Later, and for years after, Jimin would tease him by saying how funny it was when he 'threw himself at their mate's feet' but Wolfy really didn't care. Y/n deserved to have the world thrown at her feet. He didn't mind being the first of many offerings.

Somehow he ended up on his knees and hugging her so that his face was pressed to her stomach. He decided that was because he didn't trust himself enough to be so close to her ear, to that one spot that smelled the best. To the spot that would one day bear his mark. It was far too enticing to even imagine it while this close to her.

And it was a good thing that he was further away from that place. Because for a moment he lost himself in his own personal bubble of ecstasy. Darkness enveloped him as his eyes slid shut. He snuggled as close and hugged as tightly as he could without hurting her. With one sense closed off, the one he smelled with intensified. Jimin was yelling something—Wolfy didn't care to listen—his mate smelled good enough to bite. Not that he would. But a canine could imagine.

"Hey."

Why was her voice always so soft? Even when Y/n was angry, she was scary, but her voice always held that soft note to it. It made him want to hide her from the world. At this proximity, her scent had wrapped him in a cocoon of safety and assurance, there was no room for awkwardness or hesitation here. He gazed up at her lovingly and she smiled back while running her hands through his hair.

"Hi, mate." Those were the words he had been dying to use—to be able to address his other half this way made him beam with pride.

Her first reply was a look of pleasant surprise. Her second was to grin down at him, a look he reciprocated immediately.

"Hello," she repeated as a warm flush overtook her cheeks.

He had learned long ago (and decided that this was his knowledge and to not share with Jimin) that the way she blushed had many levels. Whole face: no. It meant no. It said that she was overcome with too many emotions and that staying silent was the best option to help her overcome it. Face plus neck blush: very bad. Panic territory. Face was one thing, but face and neck together was a deadly combo. Then was his personal preference. Cheeks: happiness. Cheeks alone were typically accompanied with words and was there because even when she was happy, she was still self conscious.

YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME THIS!

He could have, but he liked that he knew something about his other half that Jimin didn't.

"Hey." He replied in a joyful tone, full of laughter.

"Hi." She giggled as well. It was infectious to the point that they kept up the game through laughter, turning it into a friendly and flirtatious competition to see who could keep it up longer.

Dorks.

"Annyeonghaseyo."

"Hola," she got out through a fit of chuckles.

He wracked his brain for more. "Greetings."

Her mouth dropped open and she huffed, probably thinking either he was being unfair or was a genius, before: "sup?"

In his head, Jimin was screaming.

"Yo."

"Bonjour!" She said excitedly. Her eyes twinkled as they peered down at his own and he temporarily forgot where he was. His arms tightened a fraction and he immediately loosened up, trying to be mindful of his strength.

"I lose." He admitted, not feeling any remorse at all. "But I win because I have you."

Yoongi-hyung will puke if he hears you.

'Pot calling the kettle black' he thought flippantly before turning all of his attention back to his mate. There was a pleasant redness to her cheeks that made him feel like a million bucks. Deciding that he trusted himself, and his feelings for her, he stood to embrace her properly. Sparks warmed his skin as he bumped his nose against her own affectionately. Her eyelashes fluttered against his face when he moved to nuzzle his cheek against hers, the feeling of smooth skin on skin burning him up from the inside.

"I love you."

Though his voice was a whisper, she had no trouble hearing it. This was made evident as she responded.

"I love you, Wolfy. You're my mate too. Not just Jimin. I get that. I...I think maybe you were the one that made me rethink things...if that makes sense. You were standoffish. That helped me a lot. And I'm, um, sorry if I was difficult in the beginning."

"You weren't!" He denied (lied) vehemently. "You are perfect and you've always been perfect. If anyone says different, they can fight me in the, uh," he tried feverishly to remember what it was that Kitty would always say in times like this, but it completely slipped his mind so he ended with, "they can fight me!"

"No, don't fight anyone." she told him gently. "I don't want my Wolfy to get hurt."

"Ok." He relented right away, practically melting in her arms. "I won't fight anyone ever again."

Another giggle slipped out of her at his eagerness to please. Lots of flirting and many a cuddle later, they were sitting side by side on the edge of the bed. Fingers interlocked together, they talked as though they had always done so. Like a pair of old lovers that had known one another for a lifetime, but still found so much more to speak about.

The first thing he was eager to hear about was how her week had gone without him. When Y/n would speak to Jimin about things like this, he would listen attentively and really seem interested. Wolfy was like this as well, if a bit more keen. He sat on the edge of his seat and paid rapt attention to everything she would say and his facial expressions were unguarded. The words, 'I'm tired', came out of her mouth and his forehead creased in concern, worry painted his face while his hands worked to massage her own.

As she told him about a funny exchange between Namjoon and Hyuna that had happened on campus, relief and amusement eased his features while he watched as she held her stomach from laughing so hard.

But then she treaded upon the subject of her first therapy session and the mood shifted. Honesty was what Seo-Joon had been preaching to her as of late. When it came to her feelings, he would say that she had to say what she felt, even if it made her feel guilty about saying it. Because according to him, there should be no guilt in being a normal human being.

Although she did speak more on it than she normally would, Wolfy suspected that she shared as much as she was comfortable with. It killed him, just a little bit, to know that she was not 100% ready to share her everything with him, but he was a patient man. And he would always wait for her.

"It was annoying." Y/n griped, pouting cutely. For a moment remorse flashed across her face before it was wiped away. "I know it's her job but...she kept saying the same things and asking me the same questions. Why did I have to tell her my story five times in a row? It was just," the rights words appeared to elude her for a moment until she settled on, "rude."

That last word came out in a huff. His heart constricted as a whispered confession tumbled out of him. "You're so cute."

"Huh?"

"Are you hungry?" he rushed to correct his 'mistake'.

A moment passed as she thought. "A little. But I'm fine."

She had no idea how excited that made him. As her mate, there was instinctual urge in him to provide her with nourishment. That was one level. Any mate would do this. Consciously or not. Alphas made a bigger show of it by bringing actual hunted meat, (the show-offs) but all wolves would bring their mates food. Jimin had been doing it without her knowledge for months.

That he had freshly picked vegetables he had personally picked (hunted?) from his dad's garden out back? Bonus. The way her eyes lit up when he told her about the fresh vegetables? Double bonus.

Grinning from ear to ear, he sprang from the bed and ran over to the corner of the room to grab the cooler he had stocked full of things he knew that Y/n liked.

While they ate snacks he went over his week, complaining at length about Jimin. Y/n thought she maintained a straight face fairly well as she listened to how 'stupidly impulsive' he thought his human counterpart to be. Not to mention how 'unfairly stupid' Wolfy accused Jimin of being for keeping his distance from her all week. When she asked if he had done well on his exam he stated that he had absolutely no idea because everything Jimin did that didn't involve her was boring. So he slept the majority of the week.

When it came time for bed she gathered her things as he hovered around her nervously.

"Are you sure you can't hold it?" He inquired for the fifth time about her wanting to go to the restroom.

She didn't even have to use the toilet. All she wanted was privacy while changing, but was too shy to speak on a subject that had to do with her taking her clothes off. "I'm sorry, Wolfy. I can't."

His shoulders drooped. "It's alright—shut up, Jimin."

"What did Jimin say?" She giggled, somewhat disappointed that she wasn't privy to their conversations.

Curiously, Wolfy shook his head in the negative and refused to answer, but the color to his face made her wonder. "Nothing...um, mate? Did Hoseok-hyung tell you about his wolf?"

"Yes." She nodded. "He said it might scare me but to not worry. But I'm not worried." She wasn't. Not at all. Meeting all the werewolves was her idea of fun.

Wolfy's heart almost jumped out of his chest as she unexpectedly reached for the door and pulled it open. He was only vaguely aware of how quickly he moved to shield his mate, standing in front of her so abruptly that she was shoved backwards into the door jamb. A gasp poured from her mouth and he gulped at the ginormous sight of Hoseok's wolf sat calmly between between his room and the next to where Namjoon and Kitty were stationed.

Intimidating golden eyes peered down at them, thick fur the color of onyx covered his body. The strands on his head brushed against the ceiling because he was slightly bigger than a Clydesdale horse. To Wolfy, this wolf wasn't really scary until he had to be.  Honestly, he liked this friend and trusted him. But he didn't want Y/n to look at him and be afraid. He was used to it by now, but she would undoubtedly be shocked by the sight of him. That, and there was no way she couldn't feel the heavy aura of dominance he gave off.

Another gasp came from behind him and he steeled himself, waiting for her scream of horror.

"How CUTE!" She exhaled and began vigorously tapping him on the shoulder. "Wolfy!! Is that Hoseok-oppa's wolf?!? Tell him I said he's cute! Wait—Can I pet him?!?"

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Jimin was adamantly screaming his disapproval while Wolfy was so confused that he had no idea what to do. Before he was able to verbalize an answer, however, the alpha had dropped his head down to her level. Both paid him no mind as she reached around him to pet the enormously terrifying creature as if this was a friendly dog she had come across in the park.

Wolfy had no words. No words.
