He thought he would be mad.

Maybe he was a little.

The last time Jimin had seen Yoongi, he'd been a tiny, mint green dot in the distance as he'd made his escape. A couple weeks ago he'd thought to reach out to his pack member and hear his side of the story.

There were a variety of reasons he could have been hanging around his mate's work place. He liked the coffee? He heard her music and had the same taste? He got lunch at a discounted price since he knew the owner? Any of these things could be the real reason. What made it hard to be understanding was his wolf's territorial nature and instinctive need to protect. He was a gentle wolf. But a wolf was still a wolf.

So while Jimin was thinking to calmly approach and ask for answers, his wolf was all:

I say we hurt him.

Did Yoongi really deserve that? Other times Jimin had immediately decided to go for his throat, but things were different now. He was with his mate and she had been scented. The wolf on the other hand felt as though he remained as a threat.

What possible reason could he have for coming here? 'He has three little sisters, remember? Maybe they come here?'

The wolf in his head was pacing, anxious and on edge. He didn't like this, not one bit. Vaguely he'd mentioned to Jimin before that Yoongi was at that convenience store a lot, but he had neglected to mention how often.

Wolves didn't just have a 'good nose'. They could pinpoint new scents and old, could tell you how old it was and how many new ones layered on top of that. Yoongi's had been too many to count. It was a fact that his pack member had found Jimin's mate before Jimin did and he had remained in her vicinity for some time. And the soft, mellow wolf hated it.

Yoongi's wolf had always been the sort to intentionally poke at his nerves, to coax him into bickering at every opportunity. Now he wondered if this was another game to him, a new way to get on his nerves.

He didn't dare share any of that with Jimin.

Regardless if Yoongi was here for an innocent reason or not, this was his third strike. Without a doubt, Jimin's ass would be crushing something he held dear. It was the only revenge he could think of.

"Carl, I'm going to take my break, can you take over for me?"

The German agreed and together they tried to peel the five little girls off of Jimin, something the kids weren't too pleased about. On a normal basis they treated him as if he were a jungle gym and he allowed it. This was probably something he never should have let them start because when it came to him needing to leave they weren't keen on letting go. Today he lost a few (hundred) hairs in the tricky process.

As soon as he was free he ran out, the little angels (monsters) chasing after him with excited eyes and grabby hands. More than one began crying as he escaped.

He did not expect to find Yoongi so soon, but there he stood at the end of the hall. His nostrils flared and gaze met Jimin's and they both froze. A look of alarm flashed through the older man's eyes, an action that Jimin deemed to be an act of a guilty person. What should he be afraid of if he did nothing wrong?

Neither were telepathic but animals had their own way of speaking to another, and these wolves were no exception to that fact. The two men listened in as Jimin stalked closer, ignoring everything else around them.

Jimin's was clearly threatening: 'I'm going to sit on your car and then your keyboard.'

Yoongi's was frightened but exasperated as the idea. 'Please don't sit on the car! We're still paying on that. And which keyboard? The one for our PC or-'

'The electric one!'

'NOOOO!'

'After that, I'm sitting on your bed.'

'YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR.'

'Then I'm kidnapping your cat.'

'Then I guess I'm kidnapping your mate.'

Jimin stumbled to a halt, seriously ready to draw blood at this point. Until a familiar, tired sigh was heard in his head.

'Never mind. I don't have the energy for that.'

The recession did not matter, he was going to pay for the comment and everything else. All Jimin had to do was find out where Yoongi lived, decode his PIN number to get into his home, battle his aggressive bodyguard cat, knock Yoongi out without killing him or seriously injuring him, battle the cat 8 more times, find all of his most prized possessions, sit on all of his most prized possessions, and make it out of there without being detected by neighbors or law enforcement. That's all.

Seething, he drew to a halt right in front of his pack mate, and said pack mate pulled a child out of no where and held it in front of his face to use as a shield.

"Oppa? What are you—Uncle Jimin!"

One of Yoongi's baby sisters, Ara, waved enthusiastically, her short legs wiggling in the air due to excitement. Before he had the chance to reply, two of the remaining triplets dived for his legs at the same time, crushing them both in a hug and preventing him from moving forward to strangle their older brother.

This was clearly what he wanted, as he refused to let Ara down, even though she whined to be able to embrace her uncle like her sisters got to. And as if that wasn't enough to stop him, his wolf had left all thoughts of violence behind at the sight of the child. Like a family dog, he sat back on his haunches as his tail began to wag.

The triplets were born when they were in high school and according to Yoongi, the reason he left home to live in Namjoon's house. They were everything their older brother wasn't. Loud, energetic, high maintenance. Since turning four in February this year, Jimin had seen them maybe twice and had yet to fully recover.

"Why are you here?" Yoongi peeked from around Ara's shoulder, ignoring her many protests to be let down.

"I work here." Jimin replied while also doing his part to ignore his wolf's call for violence. "Why are you here?"

"To pick up this." He waved the child in his arms as though she were an object and not a living, breathing thing.

"We need to talk."

"Yes." Ara was brought in closer to his face. "Later."

"Now."

"You're working." Even hiding behind his baby sister, Yoongi still found the attitude to roll his eyes. "And I'm not letting you anywhere near my car."

"I'm on my break. And I won't harm your car unless you give me more reason to."

It took a bit more coaxing to get Yoongi to relent. He did, to an extent. Sweet Ara wasn't let out of his grip the whole way out to the car and was constantly used as a shield to protect her big brother. Her sisters chose to sit on Jimin's feet and giggled throughout the 'ride' there.

Separating them from their uncle and getting everyone into the car was more than a little hassle, what with the constant cries for treats and complaints over the booster seats that none of them wanted to get into.

Finally having enough, Yoongi snapped. "Just get in there you little shits!"

This was met with a chorus of "ooOoooooOOooo!" And was cut off as their brother slammed the door after bribing them with ice cream.

He was wonderful with children.

Leaning against the hood of his car, he crossed his arms and glared heatedly at the younger pack member for a moment before looking away and uttering a begrudging, "Sorry."

A scoff left Jimin before he mimicked his hyung's movements and leaned against the car. Yoongi gave him a sidelong look and scooted further away.

Jimin sighed. "Hyung, what's going on? I'll be honest, my wolf wants to sit on all of your stuff but I need to hear an explanation from you before I do anything."

He looked to his feet before muttering, "Why is your ass so powerful?"

"It was a gift from the moon goddess." He replied with no amount of sarcasm. When Yoongi didn't appear to be about to explain, he prodded. "Yoongi-hyung."

Nibbling on his thumb nail, (a nervous habit he'd had for as long as Jimin had known him) Yoongi dropped his head and tone as he answered.

"I didn't know she was your mate. I really didn't, not at first."

"Not at first..." he said slowly. "So that means you knew later on?"

His answering nod flared up his temper all over again, but that was somewhat quelled by the regret in Yoongi's expression when he nodded an assent.

"Then why did you continue on if you knew?"

There was no immediate answer to his question, only the sound of the triplets singing an off-key chorus to the Frozen soundtrack from inside of the car.

"I...I didn't mean to."

The two had never been particularly close. Jimin had gravitated to Taehyung, and Yoongi and Hoseok had been best friends since the Jurassic era (or so it seemed). That didn't go to say that they weren't close. Because they were in their own way. Jimin was that one person everyone knew they could talk to. When they were down or during times when they were struggling, he was the go to guy, the one that could make every problem seem manageable.

The one person that remembered everyone's birthdays and always made sure they were celebrated. The lone soul that remembered to refill the bird feeders outside and to leave out leftover food for the stray cats. He was honest and compassionate and trustworthy. If you wanted to keep a secret, then he was your guy.

That was how Yoongi knew that, even if he didn't directly express that he wished for discretion, Jimin wouldn't ever repeat what he had to say. Jimin was a safe place. And he didn't know that Yoongi was relieved to have been confronted by him, because this had been weighing heavily on him for some time. Hoseok was his best friend, but Jimin was his safest.

Wanting to impart sincerity, he turned to make eye contact before he spoke in a voice just above a whisper.

"I found my mate."

Jimin had thought about this conversation, and what it might entail a lot. But that was the last thing he had expected to hear.

"You!" He stood upright and glanced around the parking lot, as if his mate were to pop out of no where. "You did?!?"

The strange thing was, Yoongi's demeanor was gloomy, to say the least. Jimin's mind automatically jumped to the worst conclusions for him to look like that.

"Oh no." He breathed before hesitantly asking, "what happened? Are they ok? Did they reject you?"

"It's not that." Yoongi grumbled, his thumb back to being chewed on as he glared at the ground.

"Then...what? And what has that got to do with my mate?"

"Jimin," he moved his gaze to glare at the younger man, and somehow, Jimin knew exactly what he was about to say. "It's her."

"Her?"

"You know. The one I thought it was going to be."

"Oh." He let out a breath and Yoongi nodded, rolling his eyes heavenward as though to ask what he had done to deserve this. "Oh no."

"Yeaaaah." He grunted. "She worked across the street from your cousin's store so I was there to....well, you know why I was there."

To be a creepy stalker to his mate just like Jimin had been and Namjoon before them, was likely the end of that sentence. Jimin thought it best to leave that thought to himself.

"I'm sorry." he apologized. "I didn't know that's why you were there and I jumped to conclusions-"

"No, that's my fault. I should be the sorry one here. I should have explained myself at the beginning and this wouldn't have happened. But I was embarrassed. We all knew that after everything that happened in the past, she would never accept me. And I didn't want to tell anyone the truth. It was...too embarrassing."

Jimin scrambled to come up with believable and comforting words that might be enough. "That's not true! She might-"

"Too late. I rejected her."

"WHAT!"

His hyung nodded, but though his words were confident he didn't appear so. He looked depressed. Words of comfort that had been hard to find before, were lost now. Jimin couldn't imagine rejecting Y/n. In any way, shape or form. Ever. Yet Yoongi had rejected his mate outright. That was basically like a god giving you a gift and in turn, you spitting on it and throwing it back. Not by any conscious effort, but by a natural love for his soulmate, a strong feeling of ire grew inside of him, aimed towards this pack member.

For Yoongi to reject his own mate felt like he was disrespecting Jimin's, oddly enough.

"You never know." Yoongi kicked at a lone pebble at their feet. "Maybe I'll get a second chance."

He wouldn't and they both knew it. Second chance mates weren't for people who willingly gave their first chance away by rejecting the one intended for them. They were for the ones unlucky enough to lose their first chance to circumstance or death. But again, Jimin kept that to himself.

Comforting people was what he was best at. Yoongi didn't like hugs. He did ok with words. But he was an adult, so what he really wanted to do in order to feel better about himself was to get sloppy ass drunk, sob like a madman in public, puke on a sidewalk in front of a group of senior citizens, and black out.

Jimin knew that. It was natural.

With determination, he clapped a hand to his shoulder. "Take the girls home. I'll get off early. Let's meet up an hour from now. You, me, meat, drinks. You up for it?"

"Sounds like you're asking me out for a date."

"I would never cheat on my baby."

"Gross." He grumbled with a roll of his eyes. "But fine. See you in an hour."

Bonus scene

<>Later that night<>

The dimly lit bar stunk of cigarettes. Two obnoxiously loud and tipsy men sang a duet at the karaoke machine stationed in the corner, their arms slung across each other's shoulders.

Guess who that was.

"NEAR-"

"FAR-"

"WHEREEEEEEVER YOU ARE! I BELIEVE THAT THE HEART DOES GO OOOOOON-"

Yoongi's attempt for a higher pitch ended with him simply screaming at an ear piercing level into the microphone. The bartender winced.

Sobbing messily, the men drew closer as their chorus continued.

"WEEEEE'LL STAAAY FOREEEEEVER-" the speakers crackled at the intensity of their screams, neither men noticing that they weren't singing the right line, "THIS WAY! YOU ARE SAFE IN MY HEART AND MY HEART WILL-"

"NO!" Yoongi yelled and a loud ringing sound from the microphone accompanied this proclamation. "Fuck that, my heart won't go on. I'm going back to my cat. FUCK YOU ALL."

All except for Jimin, (who was still singing and far to into his song to care), the meager audience in the bar applauded.
