Chapter 4

Trish Pov

After I change clothes I try to hurry downstairs before Jade catches up with me. I haven't seen her since she ran out the room after the dumb ass family meeting. The right thing would have been to comfort the woman I love but I've never been good at doing the right thing. I throw on jeans a navy hoodie over my head and fling my door open on a mission to get to the car and get this meeting with the Hunters over with. As soon as I open my door Jade is standing there eyes a little puffy from crying but she still wears her breathe taking smile.

"Oh uh hey babe" I fumble the words out running a hand through my hair. She smiles a little harder at my stupid attempt to cover up my surprise to see her

"I know you're avoiding me and I understand. I just wanted to see you before you guys left" she tells me softly.

She closes the distance and plants a sweet gentle kiss on my lips. I'm so taken off guard I don't get the chance to kiss her back before she pulls away; walking to the end of the hall back to her room. She is the most amazing girl I have ever known and what's even better is that I get to call her mine. I don't know how long I stood there staring after her well after she disappeared. However, when I hear my dad yelling my name I know it's too long.

Forty minutes later my father, brother and I arrive at the Hunter pack house. It's a lot smaller than ours that is for sure. I put my hands in my pocket as I look around the huge house. It's plain white with a long porch almost reminding of an old farmhouse but bigger. A cute little girl runs out the front door dark blond pigtails bouncing. Following right after her is a tall broad man about inch shorter than my father. He had a hard face and mustache the same color as the little girl's hair. He picked her up and we met them on the front porch. The wind picked up and ruffled some of his thick hair.

"Alpha Redwood glad to have you here" He said firmly grasping my dad's hand

"Same here Alpha Hunter" my dad turns and smiles at the little girl "And you must be Angel; my have you grown" he continues.

We spend a few more minutes out front in friendly conversation and brief introductions. He leads us into his dining room and we each take seats at the glass table. Glass table? With wolves running around that seems logical. (Not) I don't say much as the conversation flows around me and a few other pack members join the table. A pretty older dark haired woman begins setting the table with a variety of foods and drinks.

"Jordan get down here now!" Hunter yells with a little authority.

Using alpha authority to get your own son to the dinner table that's crazy; if my dad had to ask us twice I'm scared by the thought of what might happen. A full minute later in scrolls the most arrogant male I do believe I have ever seen. He was wearing a dark jeans and a black polo shirt a little too tight showing off his sculpted arms. He walked with this aura around him of entitlement; like I should be honored just to be in his presence.

He takes a seat right across from me giving me this lazy smile. I raise an eyebrow at him. He can't be serious can he? I mean does he think that's charming or something? I have to put a hand over my mouth to keep from laughing.

"Lets eat" Alpha Hunter demands gesturing to the enormous amount of food now at the table. Everything from a whole turkey, fish, chicken, potatoes, corn and anything else that might be included in a thanksgiving feast sat in front of me.

I immediately began piling my plate high with the all the delicious smelling food. Biting into a juicy turkey leg and stuffing potatoes in your mouth makes it hard to pay attention to conversation. So when my brother nudges me I get slightly annoyed by the interruption.

"What?" I mumble with food still in my mouth. He shakes his head being used to my gross eating habits and points across the table at the Hunter boy. I think his name is James or Jeremy or something like that. I turn my head to meet eyes with him and he's giving me this super weird look. Damn hasn't he seen a girl eat before?

"Hungry?" he asks sarcastically.

I am in no mood to reply so I give him the finger instead and continue eating. I hear Leo choking trying to unsuccessfully hold in a laugh. I don't even glance back up to see Justin's reaction. After the meal is over my father informs us he has a few more things to discuss with alpha Hunter and they head off to his office. Leo and I stand in the living room staring at the huge peach colored couch. Who decorated this place? Whoever did seriously needs some pointers because this couch is horrible.

This is the ugliest couch I have ever seen. I mentally say to Leo. He nods his head in agreement. Before we can sit the little girl comes skipping into the room and jumps on the hideous colored couch.

"Hi I'm Angel! I bet you can't guess what I am" she said teasingly to us

"Hi Angel I'm Leo and this is my little sister Trish." Leo flashes Angel our infamous family smile making her giggle

"So what are you kid?" I ask getting to the point. I guess I'm not as good with kids. Her smile falters a little before she jumps off the couch

"I am a super spy ninja wolf!" she says as she kicks and karate chops the air. Here I thought my family was weird. Luckily she was cute and can get away with that. We watch her for a minute and then her arrogant brother enters the room

"Angel stop with the ninja wolf stuff and go play somewhere else please" he picks her up, kisses her forehead and sets her back down. She folds her small arms across her chest then shocks me my kicking him in the leg. My brother and I burst out laughing.

"I am a super spy ninja wolf! And I'll prove it!" she shouts before fleeing the room. We try to regain our composure as we watch him hop on one foot. Leo straightens back to a position of authority and I continue to laugh

"I don't know why you're laughing" Hunters son says coolly to me "I hear you believe in fantasies too"

My laughter dies in my chest when I realize what he's referring to. Unfortunately for him there isn't anything he can say about my relationship that I haven't heard three times already. My brother shakes his head in disapproval before I even say a word. For his sake I will go easy on the guy

"Look James I don't know what you heard but don't think for a second you know me" my voice deadly close to a growl but I control it.

"My name is Jordan, and one night with me and you will forget all about your little girlfriend" he remarks taking a comfortable seat on the couch tapping his lap for me to sit on it. I feel myself getting angrier by the second

"Don't ever talk to my sister like that" Leo says in my defense. Josh puts on that cocky smile of his a shrugs. This ass thinks he can talk to me like that. He must not know who I am but that's ok I will remind him soon.

"I know little boys like you Jacob that act all big and cocky" I say a smile teasing my lips "When really they are just trying to hide the fact that there isn't ANYTHING big about them" I end crossing my arms.

His eyes shift for a brief second but not fast enough for me to miss it. Looks like I hit that ego nicely. He stands up never breaking eye contact with me. The alpha blood in my veins is ready to challenge him and from the look in his eyes he's willing to accept. Leo steps in between us and pulls me away.

"Enough of this Trish, remember what you are here for" Leo grips my arm gently but firmly taking me away from a very close fight. The asshole has one more thing to say before we are out of earshot.

"My name is Jordan! And if I can't make you say it I can defiantly make your girlfriend scream it"

That's it! Claws and rows of teeth spring forward ready to rip his cocky little head off. I turn to lunge for him; stupid Leo is prepared for this and instantly grabs me throwing my over his shoulder growling and clawing. I see that idiot wink at me right as we exit the room. He will pay for that comment, say what you want about me but nobody talks about Jade!

Anger is forcing a shift on me. My wolf is a very temperamental girl and she's ready to draw blood. I feel Leo mentally trying to calm me while taking me out the house. I can't pick up what he's saying because my anger is clouding my mind. This the first time I met him and I already want to kill him. I know one thing for certain I will keep him away from Jade at any cost. This is going to be one long school year.

Angel P.O.V

Jordy is such a big head liar! I am a super spy ninja wolf. And I will find out some real secrets and prove to him it's true. I use my super skills to sneak my way back to the living room. I crawl back in really slowly behind the couch; I stick my head out to hear what they are saying. The girl is talking to my brother and she doesn't sound too happy. Why does she call him James? Oh this is boring, time to use my spy skills somewhere else.

I crawl back out the room and into the hallway. Now it's time to really use some spy work. I press my back up against the wall and slowly make my way down to my dad's office. He always has some good stuff going on in there. The room next to my dad office has a vent that only my small body can fit into. I climb in and crawl to the other side careful not to make a sound. My daddy hears everything but lately he has been too busy to notice.

I make it to the other vent in my dad's office and look through the holes. I can only see Mr. Redwoods and my daddy's shoes. They are both wearing really shiny ones; Mr. Redwoods are black and my daddy's are brown. I'm close enough that now I can hear them talking

"The rouges are getting closer and growing larger in size. We must attack as a unit if we are to defeat them." Alpha Redwood says. My daddy sighs almost sadly

"Alpha do you have any idea what you're asking me to do? How will my children take it? My pack?"

"Your children will do as told and your pack will understand this is for the better. Getting my daughter and your son together and having one pack will make us stronger"

"That may be true but it will be your Leo that will become Alpha. Jordan won't take that well"

"Jordan is irresponsible and you are suffering trying to lead a pack with your mate dying. I'm sorry alpha this is the best way. My daughter was rejected and because of your children's condition-"

"Don't call it that!" My dad shouted now pacing the tan carpet floor

"My apologies. All I mean is that Jordan is lucky that he can even shift. The hope that he will recognize his mate is almost impossible. And poor little Angel will probably not be able to do either one" He says regrettably. My daddy stopped pacing. My heart started beating faster. Tears fell from my eyes. I wouldn't be able to do what?

"Did you hear that? Someone is near?" Alpha Redwood said. I tried to grab my chest but that only made my heart beat faster. My daddy gasped and instantly came over to the vent and took off the cover. He scooped me into his arms and I cried harder

"There my sweet Angel, it's okay" he said kissing my forehead and patting my hair

"Daddy was you talking about me? I can't be a wolf like you guys?" I tried to ask my daddy but I was so scared and crying too much. My chest was getting heavy and I couldn't breathe

"Calm down Angel you're going to work yourself up" my dad's voice was soothing but it didn't help. I was so dizzy now even though my daddy was holding me. I felt my eyes turning back and everything was blurry and getting dark

"Daddy?" I tried to clutch him tighter

"Oh no she's passing out" my dad said beginning to shake me

"No let her. This is too much for her and if she faints her memory will block what she heard today" Mr. Redwood said seriously. I felt my daddy lying me down on the couch in his office. I wanted to talk to him but I couldn't I felt so so tired. I gave up letting my heavy eyelids close.
