I used to be invisible.

What happened to that?

When did I suddenly became so....visible.

In highschool nobody would notice me. I was the one girl in the back of the class. The one girl always the first one in class and the first to go. The one girl who had no friends at one point and would sit by herself during lunch. The one girl who was all alone in everything.

Could it have been that one bump in the hallway during my freshmen year when I met Joe?

Thanks to him I was introduced to heart break and to enemies.

But even through that I remained the outcast for many years until recently were suddenly I became known.

Known to be a mother to my friends and a bitch to my enemies.

Where finally I found my voice that for so long I was mute. I made friends who were there for me in my darkest days and conquered my fears and enemies little by little.

But the best overall...

I found love.

Not just did I find the love from my other half but love in myself.

I guess at one point you could say I didn't love myself like I needed to. I lived in the shadows of others and made myself less when comparing to others. But now I don't see myself that way. Now I don't let myself to be hidden from the rest. I find a way to somewhat stand out. If it's through my art or through my writing, one way or the other over the last two years I have made myself known. Now as I walk by people smile at me.

They see me.

They know me.

My biggest change was for me to finally speak. After so long being in silence, speaking opened new doors for me.

The door to friendships.

The door to love.

The door to...many men?

And just like that men by the dozen were suddenly appearing out of nowhere all in a mission to conquer the princess' heart to which was known that she had a prince already who already rescued her from her tower.

Yet they still insist that the princess still needed to be saved.

August 10, 2018~

It was my dad's birthday and we all decided to go celebrate it in my sister Nancy's house.

Fifty eight years later and he was finally going to have his first birthday party.

Why so long?

I have no clue.

Point was it was a special day and for a special day it needed to be with family.

 
Steve was complaining earlier how he wanted Serina to come over to the party. Luckily my parents said family only and she didn't come. Ugh the thought of her actually coming...I would have left to Canada if that was to happen.

So when I got the news it was a family party I was beyond excited.

We went to Nancy's house and the second I got there all the little kids attacked me and took me away from the grown ups.

I dealt with eight kids all at once all fighting at one point because they wanted me to play with them. We played running around the house playing hide and seek or played that they were my puppies and ect ect.

So much energy they had. I once had energy like that...now I felt the age starting to lay hard on me.

"Hey Dani come here for a sec." Nancy called from the kitchen.

I got up from the living room's couch which I was "counting" when really I was just playing on my phone as the kids hid.

I went to the kitchen where my mother, Nancy's mom, my brother in law, and a random guy were there. I hugged my sister as she was talking to the random guy.

"This is Dani. She is my little sister. After her is Steve. We look alike don't we?" She laughed knowing like always we were nothing alike.

She was way shorter than me and had darker skin than me. She had brown eyes and straight hair.

The random guy just chuckled and gave me a small nod and a smile as a greet.

I them remembered the kids were still hiding and quickly I went to look for them.

The rest of the day was a blast.

Nancy and I secretly bought my father his gift which was a golden ring encrusted with diamond on the edge and a golden eagle right in the middle. My dad for years have been asking for a ring and finally he was about to get it. I stuffed the ring in a small package and squeezed it inside a huge jumbo size marshmallow and rolled it inside a shirt into a birthday bag. When my sister finally brought him into the room we showed him the bag.

"Oh yes this is going to be big." His eyes lit up.

He opened the bag and found the shirt.

"Shirt is too small for me." He stretched the shirt out.

The marshmallow fell out on the bed.

"Oh weird...a marshmallow?"

"Happy birthday dad!" Nancy and I hugged him.

"Well I sure love food." He laughed kind of confused why we tricked him with the huge birthday bag.

"Eat it." Nancy said.

"Um okay?" He started to eat the marshmallow. He was already in the middle when he froze. Something hurt his tooth. He then finally destroyed the marshmallow to pull out his real gift.

Yeah he was happy.

Really happy.

We then celebrated with cake and later I played bingo where we betted money to which I won ten dollars when I started with just a dollar. So that went swell ten bucks were like the lottery for me. I also got to carry a baby for the first time which was really exciting since the four month old baby only smiled and drooled. He was the cutest thing ever that my heart longed to have something so precious one day.

Then the day was over and I was glad I spent it was the family.

Just the family and friends.

August 19, 2018~

I was looking through everyone's status through WhatsApp and saw Concho's.

It was a beer.

Guy has been getting drunk lately saying because Merlyn doesn't seem interested in him at all and because I'm taken. Last time we talked he was saying how life sucked and sometimes he wished he wasn't here and that life is just work work work.

Geezus I freaking preached him about life. How life might be upside down and it may suck but it's one who needs to make it happy and simply move on. And how work gives money and shizz.

It's one's action that can either make life suck or make sweet sweet lemonade.

He said it was easy for me since I had a motivation to be happy. No matter what though I was worried for him. All those thoughts he was thinking of life without him...

Eventually he didn't reply back to me leaving me on read.

Last thing he said was he wanted another life.

To see him posting something today in his status gave me relief to see that he was still alive.

Me: You sure like drinking. You're just like my guy 🙄

Concho: he drinks? 😂😂😂😂

Me: yeah 😑 atleast he doesn't get drunk

Concho: not a fan aren't you jaja

Me: Eh. Not really.

Two things with Damian.

Smoking and drinking.

Other than that he is absolutely perfect. But even that I still love him anyways. At least he respects me and asks permission to do so and doesn't do it in front of me.

Concho: Random question 🙈 what age do I look like?

Me: thirty.

Concho: WHAT 😂😂😂😂😂

Me: Yeah man 😂

Concho: I'm 22 gosh

Me: mhm that's what they all say 🙄

I remember how Damian told me he was twenty three when we first met and just recently after six months of dating he tells me he is twenty six.

Concho: seriously I am 😂 don't believe me?

Me: I'll need your driver license, your passport, your ID, and your social security number :)

Concho: 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 You're crazy.

I then told him about what Damian did to me which he laughed to infinity.

Concho: The Dani. The untouchable. The smart one. The wise one. The one step-ahead-you-woman. Got tricked 😂😂😂😂😂

Me: It was just a one time 😭

Concho: if he lied about your age I wonder what more secrets he has hidden from you 🙊😂😂😂😂

Me: that's his one lie.

Concho: you sure? 😂

Me: yes :)

Better be...

Concho: well I am not lying about my age. I'm really 22.

Me: yeah yeah whatever I believe you I was just kidding.

Concho: Ok 😂😂😂

I was about to finish texting with him when he suddenly sent me a photo.

"Oh my word I was only kidding." I face palmed.

He sent me his passport.

Concho: So you know that if somebody is interested in you, they will prove to you anything 😂😂😂

My family loved parties.

Go to people houses and just gather around were our thing.

I had cousins from Louisiana that wanted to come to the house and see my dad and us.

I also had plans to spend the day with Damian...

If only there could be two of me.

No no actually that would be too weird.

I decided to plan it out and decided to go with it. Spend some time with the family and spend the rest with Damian. I wore a black skirt and my sparkly gold converse to go with it. Nothing extraordinary but I wanted to look somewhat decent yet casual.

It was noon when my family came. Nancy came with Panchy and the kids. My cousins came and that one random guy I saw at the party. I spent playing mostly with Bella and Diego and talked with Panchy with Steve. Mostly spent it dragging Diego around. Even when he ate he wanted me to carry him.

"Dude you're seven you're not a baby anymore."

"I'm so a baby." He stabbed his fork on the tamale he was eating. "Right mom." Diego smirked at Nancy.

"Yes baby you're my baby." She jokingly cooed and went back to eating.

Everyone were eating except for the random guy who was just sitting in the living room couch laughing at me and Diego talking English. All I knew from him was that he wasn't so random since he was Panchi's cousin and that this was his first time in America. He just recently came from Honduras so he definitely found humor in our English language.

It was two o clock when Damian called me on my phone.

"Hey princess. Are you ready?"

"Yes I am. Are you here?"

"Yes I'm out here waiting for you."

"Okay be there in a sec."

I said my goodbyes and hugged everyone which took a while since nobody wanted me to go and I had to ask Panchy for permission to go. Still don't know why I have to ask my brother in law but at least he said yes. And off I went.

Outside I saw random guy which I still didn't know his name, just casually leaning against a truck and on his phone. Just as I closed the gate behind me, he looked up and smiled.

"You're leaving?" He asked.

"Yeah." I laughed. "Just going out for a while."

"Ah that's good. Have fun and take care."

"Thanks and will do." I hugged him a goodbye, accidentally bumping our heads together.

"Oh sorry." I nervously laughed.

"It's okay." He laughed.

I then went to a red truck where Damian's brother was in the driver's spot. Damian was standing outside cleaning out the back seats of the truck.

"Who was that?" Damian asked me as he kissed me when I arrived.

"My brother in law's cousin."

"Sorry for the mess Princess." He laughed nervously. "This is our work truck after all.

"Don't worry about it." I smiled.

He had placed a clean shirt on the seat which was covered in dirt and dry cement dust. He opened the door for me and I neatly sat. Damian went to the passenger's side and off we went. Random guy (geez still don't know his name) just watched me as I left.

Damian took me to his house where I helped him put all the grocery away and we spent listening to music on his bed.

"Oh wait I almost forgot I got a gift for you Love."

"A gift? Ooo first time." I laughed.

Damian rolled his eyes and laughed as he gave me a small pink box.

It was a Hello Kitty chocolate with a surprise toy in it. I opened it and it was a chocolate egg. I ate the chocolate outside and inside was a pink plastic egg. I popped it open and out came a small figurine of Hello Kitty.

I was trying not to die with all the excitement I was going through. A simple thing as this made me the happiest girl in the world.

I didn't need expensive things to make me happy or things in general. For me Love was the biggest gift I can ever have and each day Damian tells me he loves me is all the riches I can ever have.

I inspected the figure really well and couldn't stop smiling.

Ah he knew me so well...

Damian's simple gift made my day.

Yet the day wasn't still over.

He and his brother needed to talk with their uncle and so they took me as well to meet this uncle. I meet two others before but this was my first time with this uncle. When we arrived a boy was standing outside. Damian got out of the car and opened the door for me so I could get out. The boy saw me and quickly ran back inside.

"Hey Sebastian where you going?" Damian's brother laughed and went inside the house.

"Come princess ready to meet more of my family?"

"Yes I'm ready." I smiled.

I followed him inside the house and took our seats in the kitchen table.

Damian's brother, Freddie, handed me a pear.

"Ever tried a pear before? My uncle grows it right in the front yard."

"I've never tried a pear before." I tried to take a bite but it was too hard.

Damian and Freddie just watched me trying not to laugh.

"Here let's try another one." Damian got another pear and took a bite from it. "This one is softer try this one." He handed me the pear.

I took another bite from it and pouted.

"It's just like eating an apple." Freddie laughed.

"My dad always cuts my apples in pieces." I mumbled.

Damian face palmed and Freddie was still laughing.

Suddenly their uncle finally appeared.

"Greeting!" He smiled and shook my hand.

"I've come to introduce y'all my girlfriend." Damian said.

Ah the mention of him calling me his girlfriend in front of people got me lovestruck.

"Sebastian why you hiding!" Freddie randomly called out to that one boy who disappeared.

The boy finally came out and nervously laughed.

"Hey say hi to my girl." Damian chuckled.

The boy came up to me and extended out his hand. I shook his hand and smiled.

"I'm Sebastian."

"Danielle."

He smiled and took a seat next to the uncle which happened to be his father. Another kid then appeared  who shook my hand as well and took a seat. Then next came out a woman.

"This is my girlfriend." Damian once again said.

"Why hello there sweety." She shook my hand and smiled at me. "A pleasure to meet you. Have you tried our pears yet?"

"Yes." I politely smiled.

"Left it there." Damian pointed to the pear sitting at the edge of the table.

"Don't like it sweety?" She laughed.

"I do. It's just hard to chew."

"She comes from a family where they take really really good care of her." Freddie said with a chuckle.

"Hey that's a good thing." The Uncle said. "Daughters are to be treated like little princess. Is rare to see parents still worried for their daughter at her age. How old are you hun?"

"Nineteen."

"Ah she is still a girl." The uncle smiled warmly at me. "Damian don't be rude and get a knife and help her out."

Damian just shook his head while laughing as he went to look for a knife. He came back and cut the pear into pieces for me.

Don't worry Damian I'll learn to do things on my own someday.

My parents avoided to teach me anything about the kitchen and other things. I'm guessing in their minds they don't want me to grow up. But either way I'll learn on my own and someday I will be able to cook, use a knife, do laundry, and learn all the basic stuff I need to know.

The evening was lovely with them. I got along really well with them. They happened to be Christians so there was a lot of common things there. They had the same aspect in minds as mine and so conversations with them were so much easier. Not to mention I wasn't shy with them at all. Damian on the other hand seemed shy with them. Unlike with his other uncles he was was very talkative yet I was shy with the other ones. They have different cultures and traditions from mine so I was learning little by little trying to understand them more. Other than that this uncle and his wife were super comfortable with me.

"Geez Damian why so quiet?" The uncle laughed.

"Oh nothing." He blushed.

"Sure act all cute and innocent around your girl I see." The uncle then faced me. "You should see him when he comes her. He usually very talkative. To the point we can't shut him up. You on the other hand know how to keep him well behaved. Well done."

"She gets violent Uncle. She threatens to hit me if I misbehave. Wanna see my bruises?" Damian revealed a bruise on his arm.

"Lair. You got that at work fool." I laughed.

"You should hit him though if he does misbehave. Don't be shy just pull his ear and show him who is boss." The uncle's wife laughed.

"I'm not violent though." I laughed nervously.

Okay maybe just a little but that's to my enemies.

"Princess said I can be a house husband when we get married. If that is a thing."

"What the fudge?"

"You said so princess remember?" He got up from his chair and hugged me from behind. "You said you were going to be doing all the work and I was going to stay home and do the cooking and care for the kids."

Geez Damian was on a roll today trying to expose me.

"No sweety don't ever let the man make you do all the work. The man works and you get his check." The uncle's wife laughed.

I just let my eyes widen and laugh.

The uncle then started to give us marriage tips for some reason which wasn't at all bad. I mean we weren't still getting married but it was nice knowing a few facts and advices. Damian would rest his chin on my head as his uncle spoke and Freddie was making paper boats to two little kids that came later on. One of the kids handed me a stem with fresh grapes on it and would keep looking at me every once a while. To which Damian had to whisper things that the kid liked me and was jealous because the little kid was staring at me too much.

Eventually his Uncle and his wife had to go to church leaving us with roast chicken to eat.

Nancy called me a few times as well eventually telling me on the last one that she accidentally butt dialed me.

And then my uncle from Honduras called me in video chat saying he was in Mexico doing some business while Damian was playing with the two little kids throwing paper airplanes into the sky. 

At the end it was just Damian and me alone at last.

"So what time do you have to be back at home?" He asked.

"I don't know. My parents haven't called me yet. Probably busy with the family."

"How many were today in your house?"

"About twelve adults and just two kids. Usually it's way more."

"Wow that's a lot."

"Trust me that's nothing. I deal with twelve kids at times and there are times where the house is so crowded you can actually feel it shake."

Damian's eyes suddenly went round.

"I don't have to go in right when I leave you?" He stared down at the grass.

"You have to. That's the only condition my parents put if I want to be going out with you."

"Why?"

"Because it's the right thing to do. Just like how you take me they want you to leave me like a Princess."

Damian squinted his face cutely like he always do making me swoon crazy for him.

"Yes Princess." He kissed me tenderly. "I just get shy around people."

"Yeah sure you do." I rolled my eyes and kissed him back.

8:00pm~

The day went by really quick but at the same time felt really long when I was with Damian. Finally it was time for me to go home. I said goodbye to Freddie and got out of the car with Damian. The many cars from earlier were gone except for one which belong to one of my cousins. Damian took me to the front porch and I knocked the door.

"Come in Dani." I heard my mother's voice. I opened the door to see my cousin's wife and her four month baby in the living room. Damian stood close behind me and finally greeted my mother and my cousin's wife.

Now that I realize he isn't even my cousin but my brother in law's brother. Yes I have a very confusing family tree. But anyways he was called my cousin and he was with my father in another room talking. Steve was nowhere to be seen and my mother seemed very happy to see me back home.

"Thank you for bringing her home." My mother hugged Damian as he was about to leave.

"You're welcome." He smiled.

"Here I'll take you to the gate now." I led him outside.

When we were outside Damian stopped me.

"Can you call your father out really quick? I have the money I borrowed from him when I needed to pay for the house."

"Yeah sure." I went back inside and looked for my father. I finally got him to come out and Damian finally paid him back. My dad was beyond happy to see Damian was a man of his words. Usually when people borrow money from my dad they never pay him back or they pay him in bits which makes my dad upset. Damian on the other hand paid exactly the amount and just in time.

He definitely won some point with my dad because there was a light in his eyes when he thanked Damian which I never seen before.

Trust.

August 20, 2018~

Concho was back at it again with the flirting with me and then there was this guy named Juan who I meet in Facebook long before Damian first appeared.

Geez the world was full of people with that same name.

He tried at first in the beginning to conquer me like the rest but then he disappeared for a time. That was when then I meet Damian and he stopped talking to me. Apparently Damian and him were mutual friend on Facebook and that was how Damian found me. Juan guy then appeared just to find out I was taken. Yet still, just like Concho, they insist.

Juan: Hello my green eyes.

Me: hi

Juan: how are you?

Me: Good and you?

Juan: Good as well. You're always happy. Are you this happy all the time?

Pretty much until hoe appears. That's when I want to destroy everything and go in rage mode.

Me: I just have enough reasons to be happy 😊

Which was true.

I was alive, have a loving family, best friends, an amazing boyfriend, a job which I was happy about, and over all I was well in health.

Juan: Such a beauty indeed. Still have a boyfriend?

Me: Yes 😊😊😊😊😊

Juan: jajaj that's good I guess. I mean its not like you would ever pay attention to a ugly illegal guy like me.

Me: hey don't say that.

Juan: I mean its true. You're beautiful on the outside and your personality as well. A guy like me has no chance like that.

Ah he was so wrong about that.

A guy didn't need to be good looking in order to get any pretty girl. Everyone says Damian wasn't the best looking out there that I could have but to me Damian's heart glowed the brightest and in my eyes he was the handsomest there is. And being illegal to America didn't mean anything. Trump was being stupid calling all the immigrants illegal when really majority are here to work really hard and care for the family.

Just like Damian.

I finished texting to Juan knowing he will text me back in the next month or so like always. Just when I was putting my phone away, my phone buzzed.

Joshua: Hi 🙂

Odd? Who is he?

I replied back with a hi and then suddenly my brother busted in my room laughing.

"Dang Dani you are such a hoe! What do you do to guys man hahah."

Hoe is that girl you dating....

I bit back my remark and just smiled straight not knowing what he was talking about.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"You make guys go crazy for you haha. What did you do to Joshi Boy?" Steve winked.

"Who is Joshi Boy?" I rose an eyebrow.

"Oh I call him like that." He laughed. "It's Joshua."

"Umm......who the heck is Joshua?" 

A gasp escaped from Steve's mouth and there was a moment of silence until he spoke again.

"Joshua is Panchi's cousin. You know the guy at the party and the one who came here on Sunday?"

Must be random guy. The guy who I never got his name. It must be him that Steve is talking about I mean who else?

Steve then showed me Joshua on his phone.

Turned out it was indeed random guy.

Random guy was Joshua.

"He has been asking me for your number and for your Snapchat. You got him crazy for you."

"Why? I barely know him. I only spoke to him once and seen him only twice."

"I don't know broby but whatever you did he really wants to talk to you."

I looked down on my phone.

"I have a boyfriend." I said.

"Yeah I told him already." Steve then walked off from my room and kept shaking his head as he laughed. "Seriously broby you and men."

Well this was unexpected.

Mostly weird.

I replied back to Joshua saying hi and 2.3 seconds later he replied back.

It has been a few days since that day and well we became friends. Though I did make it really clear that I have a boyfriend. He finally confessed to me recently though saying he liked me.

Joshua: are you mad?

Me: No why?

Joshua: Because I said I liked you. 🙈 I like you Dani.

Me: why? I barely seen you twice only.

Joshua: yeah I know but that day in the party when I first laid my eyes on you...I thought in my head...wow Dani is beautiful. Since then I haven't been able to stop thinking about you.

Me: 😂😂😂 well then

Joshua: I know I know you think this is funny but it's true 😅 I liked you at first sight.

Me: Dani though has a boyfriend 😊

Joshua: yeah I know 😔

Me: my friendship is still available though. 😊😊😊

Joshua: 😊 yeah no problem I just wanted you to know my feelings.

Me: well I have to admit I'm happy you're honest with me.

Joshua: the day when we came over to your house you looked really pretty.

Me: thanks.

Joshua: and when you left I thought you weren't going to say bye to me.

Me: why not? Lol

Joshua: well because I wasn't family.

Me: so I have manners and my parents raised me like that to say bye to people.

Joshua: well I was glad you did. Though I got sad when I saw you leave. I couldn't stop following my gaze at the truck you went in. Just sad that I came too late in your life.

Me: well that's how life works you know.

Joshua: true I guess. But I'm here now beautiful. And we are still alive.

Guys are weird. You tell them you have a man already in your life but they seem to shrug it away. What don't they get that they have been friend zoned?

Why now? Why now must all of these men finally see me? What is it about me that keep making these guys fall for me?

Years back I couldn't get a single guy to even look at me but now that I have changed, I got guys by the dozen trying to conquer a heart that has already been conquered.

Concho was nice.

Juan was okay.

Now Joshua he was super good looking and sweet.

But none of them will be like My Damian.

The only man to this Princess' heart already belonged to someone else.

And Damian had the only key to it.
