Chapter 13: Teamwork Not Included For Two
"Give me your number." Jordi told me in a order like tone.
"Excuse me?" I frowned.
"Look if you want me to participate in the project you got to give me your number so I can communicate with you. You do the whole paper report and I will do the model. How does that sound?"
I have to admit that sounded like a good plan to work with.
"Very well then." I gave him my number.
"I'm so getting that hundred on my grade report." He jumped up and down and ran off.

I always like to work by myself when it comes to projects. I concentrate better and I get full credit towards it. With the end of the year coming closer and closer, teachers lately been liking to assign us students projects.
Group projects to be exact.
This time it was music production class. Teacher finally came back after missing one whole month and decided to go ahead and give us a project to do.
And just my luck, the one person I actually wanted to work with, was absent.
Rose had to be absent today.
"All you guys have to do is set up the sound system and roll up cables. I want this to be a team effort."
Team effort my butt.
"I want everyone working. I will check on you guys before the bell rings and see how well you set up the sound system. This is a grade people." My teacher, Mr. McClure instructed us. He walked off and everyone went to set up the system.
Except me.
I just sat there and watched.
First of all it was lame. Second of all....I had no clue whatsoever what this class was really about. I mean all I've been doing in this class was draw comics with Rose or play in my phone almost the whole year.
So I've been slacking so what?
I
awkwardly just legit sat there doing nothing. I tried rolling cables but I got too lazy and decided best to just stand in the far corner in the shadow like some loser I was. I leaned against the wall with my arms crossed over my chest and kept staring everyone like some kind of prey to my green eyes.
They were all mouses to me.
Class was about to end and I still did nothing. I really hate team work. I decided to move to a different corner so it looked like I was actually doing something and didn't realize who was next to me.
"It would look less suspicious if you just move more often."
I got startled and looked to my right to see the Juan guy leaning against the wall. He was still dressed in black and with a blue bandana on his forehead. He looked so dark and mysterious just standing there doing nothing like me. Next to him was the white board. He got a red expo marker and wrote three sixes on the board.
All I could do was slightly cringe at the guy and mentally gasp.
"I don't know why people always jump and say the devil's number. It's just a number," he spoke as I just quietly stared at him. "I don't get religion. I just don't get why we have to label people with religion and race and shit."
I slowly blinked as he kept talking.
"There is nothing wrong. We are all different."
I couldn't help but to stand next to him. Still I didn't utter a word to him.
"I don't know why people make a scene about it," He frowned. "Do you get what I am saying?" He looked directly at me.
"Y-yes." My voice slightly squeaked as I stuttered.
Great why am I stuttering????
To be honest I don't know what he was going on with this conversation. Was like he actually talking to me?
He suddenly smirked and got closer to me.
"Were you dating someone before?"
"W-what?" I took a step back.
"Yeah weren't you dating Joe? I've seen you before walking with him in the hallways. I believe we had freshmen classes as well."
I never seen him in my life before. This was our first time talking and I only saw him the day he popped Rose's glove balloon and when he almost slammed the door to my face. I guess I wasn't that invisible like I thought I was.
"And then you were dating that one Mexican guy. I don't know who he was but I certainly remember you." He got closer to me.
This suddenly went to unexpected to super weird and awkward.
While I was distracted placing all the pieces of the puzzle together, his hand grabbed my necklace.
"May I?"
I nervously nodded my head and took off my necklace and handed it to me.
"Is this a horn?"
"It's a c-cow h-horn."
"Is it real?"
"Y-yes. It's from my c-country."
"Seriously?" He smiled. "This is awesome. I never seen a girl dress like you do."
He thought my necklace was awesome???
I mentally jumped in excitement. People usually judged me and start saying shizz like I'm weird and stuff. I remembered when I went to my country Honduras that my dad got the horn for me from a cow and a cousin of mine made a whole in it by burning it with a metal stick. All I did was turn it to a necklace and carry it everywhere. People get freaked out when I wear it though. Only Rose see the awesomeness in it and finally this guy who I barely starting to meet him.
Juan handed me back my necklace just as the bell rang.
Looks like two didn't do any teamwork.
"See you around Dani," he said before he walked off to his next class.
Wait did he just called me Dani???
I followed him with my gaze before he finally disappeared through the doors. Nobody called me Dani unless they were my friends.
I couldn't help but to smile.
Okay so maybe my day wasn't so bad after all with the absentee of Rose. Still didn't mean I forgot what Juan did to Rose the other day.
Shit I just let him get away.
Oh well I guess he was okay for now. I mean he seemed like it. So instead of hunting him down like I had it planned the other day, I let it slide and walked off to my last class of the day.
