albus dumbledore

Sage sat on the windowsill of the Gryffindor Common Room. Seamus was sitting across from her and Dean was leaning against a wall behind Seamus. Their sixth year was ending in 3 days, it was insane to all of them.

They were about to start their final year at Hogwarts and then the beginning of the rest of their life.

Nothing about Elizabeth, which was worrying Sage a lot. Elizabeth was always nice to her no matter what, although the two were never super close.

"They'll find her," Seamus said, realizing Sage was out of it again.

Sage turned to look at Seamus "I really hope so," she mumbled. She still couldn't erase the fact that they were gonna graduate in a year.

Sage knew as her sixth year was ending, Dumbledore would be gone soon, at her hands.

Would anyone find out? Besides Draco of course. Snape already knew that she was a part of all this.

She was starting to regret it, she was starting to feel manipulated into all this like she was a toy.

Every time she tried to picture the real villain, to remind herself, she sees Dumbledore. She sees Dumbledore using Remus or Draco as a motivation to do what he wants.

Made her wonder, who's really the villain?

The sky faded dark and once Dean and Seamus got up to walk around for a bit, Sage left a few minutes after them.

The atmosphere was different and she had a strong feeling tonight was the night. Albus Dumbledore would be dead forever.

She made her way to the potions classroom, opening up the heavy door. "Professor Snape?" She questioned as she shut the door behind her. She received a short glance from his grey eyes. "Is it-?"

Snape nodded "It is," he said, "Remember Sage, you don't have to do this."

Sage nodded "I know I don't, but I feel as if it's too late to back down now?" Snape told her, Sage thought about it for a moment.

But shook her head "No I can't," she insisted, "I have to do this."

"Malfoy's already there, I think when we get there... you need to be there with him, he can't know about me right away. I have to see if he's actually going to do it," Snape explained.

Sage and Professor Snape made their own way to Dumbledore's office, as they arrived Snape said the password, and the door opened, voices could be immediately heard, muffled and arguing. Dumbledore was talking calmly to Draco. Sage meant eyes with Harry right away.

His eyes were drowning with confusion. But Sage ignored them and looked up to see Draco. Right as she began to walk up the stairs, Draco pulled his sleeve down, "He trusts me!" Draco insisted, "I was chosen!"

Sage watched the dark mark, Dumbledore's face dropped. "Draco..." Sage said hesitantly, Draco turned his wand towards her and she threw her hands up in the air.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

Sage ignored his question, "Draco please, calm down," she begged.

Dumbledore looked over at Sage and sighed, "I shall make it easy for you," Dumbledore said as he raised his wand.

"Expelliarmus!" Draco yelled, the wand flew from Dumbledore's hand.

A door moving was heard downstairs... Sage hoped it was Snape. "There are others? How?" Dumbledore asked.

"The vanishing cabinet, in the room of requirement," Draco explained, "I've been mending it."

Draco's wand was back on Dumbledore. "Draco," Dumbledore warned, "I once knew a boy, who made all the wrong choices, please let me help you,"

Sage glanced over at Draco who began to tear up, "I don't want your help! Don't you understand?" Draco snapped through the tears, "I have to do this! I have to kill you! Or he's gonna kill me..."

Sage felt her eyes tear up, Draco was more broken than she realized. The rest of the death eaters entered, Bellatrix's wand quickly going up to Sage who had her arms in the air.

"Well, look what we have here," Bellatrix said, walking behind Draco. "Well done Draco."

"Evening Bellatrix," Dumbledore greeted, "I think introductions are in order, don't you?"

"I'm afraid we don't have time," Bellatrix said, sarcasm in her voice. "Do it!"

Draco looked over at her, the death eaters began to mock him, he was crying, struggling to kill Dumbledore.

Snape came up, "No," he said, and Draco turned around. Snape walked in front of Draco, Sage moving over so she could get her wand on Dumbledore.

"Please," Dumbledore begged.

Sage looked at Snape and she pointed her wand at Dumbledore. Was he making her do it? She eyed a balcony behind, she hadn't ever casted the killing curse so she formed a different idea.

"Stupefy," She said quietly, magic coming from her wand and making Dumbledore fly back off the balcony.

Snape quickly rose his wand "Avada Kedarva," he said, green light was visible. It was like Snape's mercy killed him, so he didn't feel any pain.

Snape turned in the direction of the death eaters, he took a few swift spots over to them. His hand placed on Draco's back as Draco walked over with him.

Sage went to follow them, "No," Bellatrix ordered. Sage stopped in her place and Draco turned around to face her.

"What?" Sage questioned, "I just-"

"Oh I know what you did," Bellatrix said, "You stay here, it'll be too suspicious, we'll report your actions to the Dark Lord, then he'll decide,"

Sage shook her head and Bellatrix groaned in annoyance, "Bellatrix-" Draco started.

"Draco, she has to stay," Bellatrix snapped, reaching into her pocket for a dagger. "It'll be quick, you won't die, but it'll make it look like you're innocent. Got stuck in the crossfire,"

Sage widened her eyes, but before she could put her opinion out, Bellatrix threw the dagger, it sunk into her thigh and she almost immediately collapsed.

"Sage!" Draco yelled, rushing over to her.

"Draco cmon!" Bellatrix ordered.

Draco looked at Sage, "It's okay... I'll be fine, just go," Sage said quietly, the truth is, she couldn't bear much pain in general, she didn't know what she would do.

Draco kissed her quickly "Please write to me," he begged before getting up and following the fellow death eaters. Sage was able to catch a glimpse of Harry chasing them.

Sage put her hands over her wound and relaxed. After a good amount of time passed, the door to Dumbledore's office could be heard flying open, quick footsteps could be heard.

The footsteps she recognized to be Professor McGonagall. She came into a few, Harry was behind her, did he not tell her?

"Miss Lupin, goodness!" McGonagall exclaimed, rushing next to the girl. "What happened?"

Sage's eyes met Harry's, Harry sighed, "She tried to stop Dumbledore from dying and got stuck in the middle," Harry explained.

The Hospital Wings, 3 days later.

Sage stayed in the hospital wing for the last two days, but now, on the third day, she was released. They were leaving school for the summer anyway. Seamus and Dean came as Pomfrey released her.

"Take it easy, Miss Lupin," Pomfrey told her as Sage stood up. Her leg was wrapped and well taken care of, but it still hurt.

Seamus and Dean stood on both sides of her, helping her in case she needed it. She was walking slower, much slower than usual.  As she saw Harry making his way over in the distance, she stopped in place.

"You guys can go, I'll meet you in the common room later," she said.

Seamus looked at her, "You sure?" He asked.

"I'm sure," she said and watched them walk away together, as Harry made it within feet of her.

"We need to talk," Harry said.

"I agree, very much actually," Sage agreed, Harry lead her carefully to an empty hallway.

"I don't know if my eyes when to hell the other night or if I really did see you murder Dumbledore," Harry snapped.

"Harry... it's a lot more complicated than that," Sage told him, biting down on her lip.

"Enlighten me!" He demanded.

Sage shook her head, "Harry... Harry I really can't, not yet at least," she explained. "I promise as soon as I can explain it, I will."

Harry looked at her and shook his head "Explain what, that you're a murderer?" Harry snapped, "I was gonna have you come with me..."

"Come with you where?" Sage asked.

"Dumbledore told me, like a week ago, the war is closer than we thought. I have to go destroy the Horcruxes, starting soon, whenever I get the chance," Harry explained.

Sage tilted her head in confusion, "Horcruxes what?" She asked.

"Basically Voldemort's soul," he said, "I needed someone to go with, and I can't have it be Ron and Hermione, well it can be but oddly I wanted you,"

"Me, why me?" Sage asked.

"Because you were always trustworthy, you usually never argued with me or made a choice I didn't agree with," Harry explained, "Clearly I pictured you wrong."

Sage sighed, "Harry I am sorry, I wish I could tell you..." Sage said quietly.

"You're a fucking murderer," Harry snapped, "You killed someone!"

Sage stayed quiet, Harry was right. She did, but Dumbledore asked her to... that was the problem, and now the death eaters praised her.

She was messing with two sides of a messy, bloody war. She was stuck in the middle.
