dinner party

Sage fiddled with her quill as she sat in charms class listening to Professor Flitwick explain the lesson. She eyed Draco across the room and he smiled warmly at her.

As Flitwick released the class she quickly gathered her things, shoving them into her bag. Flitwick was luckily the last class of the day and she had a few hours before Slughorn's dinner party.

He walked over to her, smiling "I'm all ready for tonight," he told her.

She knew it took a bit of convincing to make Draco agree to go, she appreciated that he decided to go. "Thank you for coming," she said as they walked together out of the class. "It means a lot to me,"

Draco smiled at her "Of course," he said softly he grabbed her hand carefully as they kept walking in the direction of Great Hall.

Sage smiled, As they entered the Great Hall the two parted ways and went to their own tables.

Sage sat across from Seamus, who looked at her, "Ginny and Dean just left arguing," he said, sounding slightly excited.

Sage chuckled "Well," she said, "That's unfortunate,"

Seamus grinned "So how's not playing quidditch?" He asked.

"Honestly it's pretty relieving," She admitted, "I don't have to worry about getting injured. Then with Christmas around the corner, I can study for school and really work on getting into Auror school,"

Seamus groaned, leaning against the table "Don't remind me that we're sixth years" he complained "NEWTs are next year. But you decided on becoming an Auror?"

Sage nodded "Yeah I did," she replied, "I mean after fighting in a war and surviving I might as well be an auror, but I'd also like to travel a little bit. Settle down after a few years and start a family,"

Seamus nodded "That's fun," he said slowly, "Well I have no clue what I want to do so that's gonna be fun figuring out,"

Sage nodded, she could understand. It took her a while to figure it out as well.

A few hours later

Sage was getting ready for Slughorn's dinner party. She put on a red dress, similar to her Yule Ball dress from the fourth year. She was excited about this, even if Slughorn could be annoying at times.

Sage met Draco outside Slughorn's classroom and they walked inside and took seats around a huge round table which the other guests.

After a while, they were eating and Slughorn was conversating "So tell me Cormac, do you see anything of your uncle Tiberius these days?" Slughorn asked.

"Yes sir," he responded, "In fact, I'm meant to go hunting with him and the minister for the holidays,"

"Well, be sure to give them both my best," Slughorn told him "What about you Miss Lupin? How is your father?"

Sage looked up, glancing at Draco "He's good, he and Nymphadora are getting married soon," she explained.

"Fantastic," Slughorn said, "And you Miss Granger, what do your parents do... being muggles and all,"

"My parents are dentists," Hermione explained. "They tend to peoples teeth,"

"Fascinating," he said, "And is that considered a dangerous profession?"

Hermione shook her head "No," Hermione said, "Although one boy, Robbie Fenwick, did bite my father once. He needed 10 stitches," Hermione laughed nervously.

The door opened and Ginny stepped in "Ah Miss Weasley, come in, come in," he said.

"Sorry, I'm not usually late," Ginny said as she sat down beside Sage.

"No problem, just in time for dessert," Slughorn said as Harry stood up looking at her, before sitting back down.

Sage ate the ice cream that was in front of her. The party wasn't bad, although it did get boring. "Miss Lupin, I heard you quit quidditch and Mr. Weasley plays your position. Why'd you quit,"

Sage looked up "Well uh- I need to focus on my education more, although it was fun while it lasted," she said. Truly it was about losing Sirius, but she couldn't say that.

"Mr. Malfoy, how are your parents?" Slughorn asked.

"They're fine, thanks for asking sir," Draco said, cracking a fake smile.

Sage gripped his hand that was shaking under the table. The dinner party was over soon and Draco and Sage left together. Christmas break was soon and she was looking forward to it. Slughorn had a party the night before the break and then she'd finally get to go home.

"Hey, I don't think I'm going to go to Slughorn's party," he told her as they walked down the hall. "Party's aren't really my thing,"

Sage sighed, she expected Draco to be her date "It's okay," she said, "Is it okay if I take Seamus?"

Draco nodded "Of course, it is," he told her. Unless you were crazy you would know nothing would happen between Seamus and Sage, nothing more than an amazing friendship.
