ascension
Sage sat in the great hall with Ron, Ginny, and Hermione as Ron shoved food down his throat. "Do you ever stop eating?" Hermione asked.
"I'm hungry," Ron defended, shrugging as Harry walked up.
"Harry..." Hermione said slowly.
"Can I join you?" Harry asked quietly.
Hermione looked over at Ron and Ginny then at Sage. "Of course-" Sage started.
"Professor, what exactly are you insinuating?" Professor Umbridge could be heard from behind the great hall doors.
"I am really requesting when it comes to my students, you conform to the prescribed disciplinary practices," McGonagall explained. The students started gathering outside to watch the two women argue. Sage stood next to Ginny.
"So silly but it sounds as your questing my authority, in my own classroom," Umbridge argued, "Minerva,"
"Not at all, Dolores," McGonagall shot back, "Merely your medieval methods,"
"I'm sorry dear, but to question my practices is to question the ministry," Umbridge said, "And by extension the minister himself. I am a tolerant woman, but the one thing I will not stand for is disloyalty!"
"Disloyalty," McGonagall said slowly, stepping down from the step.
Umbridge turned to the students, "Things at Hogwarts are far worse than I feared. Cornelius will want to take immediate action," she explained to them.
That's when it all started, the rules. The first one was she had been appointed pretty much as headmistress. Which sucked for each and every student. All of it was known now, across the wizarding world.
Divination Class
Sage sat next to Dean as Umbridge walked into the room. Trelawney was explaining something, "Just one question dear," Umbridge interrupted, "You've been in this post for how long exactly?"
Trelawney stammered "16 years,"
"One Teeny little prophecy then?" Umbridge asked, Trelawney was thinking, "Pity," Umbridge wrote down on her pad.
"Wait no! Wait! I think I do see something," Trelawney said quickly, "You are in grave danger,"
"Lovely," Umbridge said as she left the room.
Potions Class
Sage stared at Snape who was standing still as Umbridge walked in. "You applied first for the Defense Against the Dark Arts is that correct?" Umbridge asked.
"Yes," Snape said blankly.
"That you were unsuccessful?" Umbridge questioned.
"Obviously," he said slowly, which made Ron start laughing. As Umbridge left Snape smacked Ron on the head.
Great Hall
Sage sighed and played with her food "This sucks," she spoke up, gathering Ron, Hermione, and Harry's attention.
"You think so?" Ron questioned sarcastically.
Suddenly Sage watched students rush as they hears Umbridge yelling, the four exchanged glances before following the rest of the students. Harry caught up with Cho.
As they made it to the court hard, Umbridge, Trelawney, and McGonagall were in the courtyard. Filch walked Trelawney's bag out.
"Sixteen years... sixteen years I've lived at Hogwarts... Hogwarts is my home. Y-you can't do this!" Trelawney stammered. Sage felt bad for her, she was always a nice Professor.
"Actually I can," Umbridge said and held up a ministry paper. Trelawney started crying and McGonagall rushed to comfort her. "Something you'd like to say, dear?"
"Oh, there are several things I would like to say!" Umbridge snapped. Suddenly the courtyard doors opened. It was Dumbledore.
"Professor McGonagall I have asked you to escort Sybil back too inside," he ordered.
McGonagall kept comforting her as Trelawney thanked Dumbledore continuously. "Dumbledore may I remind you under educational term number 23 it states by the minster,"
"You have the right to release my teachers, you do not have the right to banish them from the ground, that power remains with the headmaster," Dumbledore explained.
"For now," Umbridge replied.
The Next Day.
Sage was dipping out on her lunch chance to go to the common room. When she wakes into the portrait hole, she hears familiar sniffles. "Hello?" She questioned as she walked around the corner she saw Seamus curled up on the couch.
"Sage," he said slowly, sitting up straight, wiping his face.
Sage dropped her school bag and walked over to her former friend and took a seat next to him. "What is it?" She asked, "Are you okay?"
Seamus looked at her, he had tear lines on his face and his eyes were red. "I messed up, pretty big time," he choked back his tears, Sage nodded slowly and he sighed. "I kissed Dean,"
"You did?" Sage questioned, "So what's the problem, Dean obviously likes you back,"
"That's the problem, Sage! He doesn't!" Seamus exclaimed. Sage knew that was a lie, Dean had told her that he liked Seamus. "He just pushed me away..."
"I'm sorry," Sage said and hugged him tightly. Seamus cried again to the point where they were missing their next class. But that didn't matter to Sage. What mattered was that her best friend was okay.
The next day
Sage sat down by Seamus, who was avoiding Dean. Dean looked down at the two before turning away. Sage took a bite of her toast "This whole Umbridge think is quite annoying," she admitted.
Sage nodded "I agree, definitely the worst Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor we've had," Seamus said.
"That's hard to beat as well," Sage joked, "There was Quirrell who literally was had you-know-who on the back of his head, Lockhart who was just annoying, Moody who was actually Barty Crouch Jr,"
"Your father was the one good one," Seamus said, smiling.
Sage nodded "I agree," she replied. Seamus smiled lightly again and the two ate. Sage felt bad she was excluding Dean, but what was she supposed to do?
