fifth year

Sage looked for Dean and Seamus who were sitting in a compartment, she could see them talking quietly as she slid open the compartment door which made the boys turn their heads.

"Sage!" Dean cheered and stood up, hugging her tightly. Dean had stood behind him and once Dean pulled away, Seamus hugged her.

Sage smiled happily "How was your summer?" She asked as she sat across from Dean and next to Seamus who she laid her legs across.

"Mine was great," Dean said, "Visited my grandparents in America again,"

"Manhattan?" Sage questioned.

Dean nodded "Yeah, it was fun though, got a tour of Illvermorny. Their school is pretty cool, not at great as Hogwarts though," He said as the train started moving.

"Fun," Seamus complimented. Sage and Dean turned to Seamus for his answer. "Well at first it was fine, but my mother started questioning if I should come back this year or not,"

"Why?" Sage asked.

"Because of Harry," Seamus said blankly, "The Daily Prophet has said a lot about him, including Dumbledore. It's quite obvious he lied,"

"That's absurd," Sage interrupted, "So your mother believes Cedric's death was a 'tragic accident'?"

Seamus nodded slowly "Yeah of course," he responded, "You-know-who didn't return, he's lying,"

Sage rolled her eyes but Dean sighed "Let's change the subject, any clue who our new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor is?" Dean asked.

Sage shook her head "Hopefully someone better than we've been having, someone that will stay," Sage answered.

Seamus nodded "Hopefully," Seamus agreed.

"I'm gonna go find Draco," Sage said suddenly, She couldn't believe Seamus's opinion on what happened to Cedric. Cedric deserved justice and it seemed no one wanted that for him.

Sage slid open the compartment door again and searched for Draco, he was sitting with Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson two fellow Slytherins. Sage knocked softly on the door which made the three Slytherin's look up from their conversation.

By Pansy's face, she had made a rude comment and Draco had defended Sage before opening the door. "Hey," Draco said quietly.

Sage smiled "Hello," she greeted. Draco hugged the girl and she hugged back.

"God I missed you," he mumbled, Draco was taller, he had grown an inch or two over the summer.

"I missed you too," Sage said quietly and kissed his cheek as she pulled away. Draco had to lead her out from his friends to an empty compartment so they could catch up.

Hogwarts

Sage walked to a carriage with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Harry was staring at Cho as she rode away on a carriage. "Hey Guys," Neville said as he walked up behind them.

"Hey Neville," Harry said. Harry suddenly turned around and was looking at the carriage.

"What is it?" Sage asked.

"What's that? The thing pulling the carriage?" Harry asked.

Nothing was there. "Nothing's pulling the carriage Harry," Hermione told him. "It's pulling itself, like always,"

Harry took a few more steps, staring at the air. Suddenly a blonde girl spoke up "You're not going mad," she said, her voice was soft and gentle. She lowered her book "I can see them too. You're just as sane as I am,"

The five of them stared at the blonde girl. They entered the carriage with her.

"Everyone this is Loony Love..." Hermione stopped herself from using the cruel name, "Luna Lovegood," Hermione leaned back with embarrassment and Ron scooted away from Luna. "What an interesting necklace,"

"It's a charm actually," Luna said, her fingers touching the charm and then letting go. "Keeps away the nargles,"

"Nar what?" Neville started to ask but Sage nudged him.

"Hungry," Luna said, "I hope their's pudding,"

"Well I'm Sage," Sage introduced.

The carriage pulled them to Hogwarts and once they arrived they made their way to the great hall, all in their robes now.

Sage sat by Dean and Seamus like she usually did. The sorting happened and Dumbledore stood up "Now that we have our first years sorted Welcome or Welcome back to Hogwarts. Remember the forest is forbidden to all students," Dumbledore announced, "Now may I welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Dolores Umbridge, I'm sure you'll all join me in giving her a warm welcome, and good luck, as usual, our caretaker Mr. Filch has cared to remind me to"

Professor Umbridge interrupted by clearing her throat, which made Dumbledore turn to her. The girl, who was wearing pink head to toe stood up and walked over to where Dumbledore was. "She was at my hearing," Harry whispered to Hermione, which caught Sage's attention. "She works for Fudge,"

"Thank you Headmaster for those kind words of welcome and how lovely to see all your bright, happy faces smiling up at me," she said sweetly, "I'm sure we're all gonna be great friends,"

"That's unlikely," George said, making Fred giggle and Umbridge glare at them.

"The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be a vital importance. Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historic school," she announced, looking over at Dumbledore who nodded, "Progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected, and prune practices that ought to be prohibited," she giggled which made people at the Gryffindor exchange confused glances.

Dumbledore stepped forward again and clapped, so the rest of the hall followed and clapped slowly "Thank you, Professor Umbridge, that really was a great welcome, now," Dumbledore went over the rest of the rules at Hogwarts before laying out the feast.

Sage scooped some food onto her plate and ate. Once the students were done they were released to their common room.

Gryffindor Common Room.

Sage leaned against a chair that Seamus was sitting at and Dean was standing next to her. As Harry walked in, people stared at him with disgust. The common room went silent. Seamus was reading the daily prophet as Harry walked by. "Dean, Seamus, Sage, good holiday?" Harry asked.

"Alright, better than Seamus's," Dean answered and Sage nudged him in the side.

"My mum didn't want me to come back this year," Seamus said as he slammed the Daily Prophet down and stood up.

"Why not?" Harry questioned.

"Let me see uh because of you," Seamus said blankly, "The Daily Prophet has been saying a lot of things about you Harry, and Dumbledore as well,"

"And your mother believes them?" Harry defended.

"Seamus cmon," Sage said quietly, but Seamus ignored her.

"Well no one was there the night Cedric died," Seamus pointed out.

"Oh well maybe you should read the prophet like your stupid mother," Harry snapped, "It will tell you everything you need to know,"

"Don't you dare insult my mother!" Seamus yelled.

"I will to anyone who calls me a liar," Harry said.

"What's going on here?" Ron asked as he entered the room.

"He's mad is what's going on!" Seamus accused, "Can you believe the rubbish coming out of his mouth about you-know-who?"

"Yeah I do," Ron responded, "Now does anyone else have a problem with Harry,"

No one said anything but Harry went upstairs and Ron followed him. People started talking again. "Was that necessary Seamus?" Sage asked.

Seamus leaned back and rolled his eyes "Yes, because of him I almost didn't get to come back to Hogwarts, pretty arse move on his side," Seamus argued.

Sage stared at him "I don't think he was lying Seamus!" Sage snapped, "Why would he lie about this?"

"Ever think he wanted the fame?" Seamus defended, "Maybe he liked being the boy who lived?"

"So you're saying he enjoys that his parents are dead? That he had a dark wizard after him? You think he enjoys that!?" Sage yelled, which made everyone stare at them.

"No- maybe?" Seamus stuttered, trying to figure out a defense. But he couldn't. He just shut up.

"Thought so," Sage said and walked to the girls' dormitory.
