Shoulder To Lean On
Sidon's Perspective-
Link and Sidon were leaving the beach, Sidon holding Link's hand.
"So what were you sad about earlier?" Link asked.
"Oh I just..." Sidon sighed, "I...thought I heard my sister."
Link frowned.
"And I know it's stupid, I know she's gone. Like you said, she's never coming back. Just sometimes my mind drifts to her and I thought I heard someone say her name."
"I don't think it's stupid. She's your sister, you'll always miss her."
"I wish I didn't. I know she's gone, I know she's never coming back, and I want to stick to that. But...I can't."
Link squeezed Sidon's hand and Sidon looked at him.
Link smiled and Sidon took a deep breath before nodding.
"What's a memory you have with her?" Link asked, "Like the first thing you remember when you think of her?"
Sidon thought for a second before smiling.
"Probably when she helped me ride a bike. I was determined to take off my training wheels because she didn't need hers, and I fell quite a bit. She ended up helping me in the end by holding my seat and distracting me. I didn't even notice when she let go cause I was so occupied with our conversation."
Link chuckles and Sidon smiles.
"She may be gone but the memories you made with her will forever be here."
Tears welled up in Sidon's eyes and he hugged Link tightly.
Link flushed red and he hugged back.
"It's gonna be okay."
-
Sidon sighed as he held onto the wall, taking his goggles off after his fast lap.
His heart was beating quickly and his legs felt sore. He took a deep breath and put his head down on his folded arms.
"Hey."
Sidon looked to his right and saw Kyle, who had just finished his laps.
Sidon averted his gaze and Kyle sighed, putting his goggles up on his forehead.
"Look, I just wanna say sorry." He said, "I was being a rude friend and pushed you into something despite knowing it made you uncomfortable. I just...well, there's no real excuse for what I did. I'm sorry."
Sidon glanced up at his friend, who smiled.
Sidon sighs, "Just promise me you'll never set me up on those stupid dates again."
Kyle flushed red in embarrassment, "Y-yes! I promise I won't do that again."
Sidon smiles weakly and Kyle chuckles.
"I...broke up with Hannah if that makes you feel better."
Sidon's eyes widen.
"What? Actually?"
Kyle nods.
"You didn't have to break up with her because of me, you know that, right?"
"I didn't do it just for you, you're not that special to me." Kyle laughs and Sidon chuckles.
Kyle sighs and scratches the back of his neck, "But yeah...she just wasn't really that great. More of a one-sided love."
He tried to laugh it off and Sidon threw his arm around him.
"Hey, lighten up. You just broke up with your girlfriend and you're still kicking ass to prepare for this championship."
Kyle smiles and Sidon gives him a thumbs up.
"Come on, let's go get some food from the nearby diner."
"Hell yeah!"
