Laurance's POV:
I walked down the sidewalk of Scalewind University's campus. Students with large backpacks and Professors in nice, pressed suits walked by as well. Some of them knew me so they waved as I waved back. It was January. The month after the Holidays. Everything was cold and it didn't make sense since I'm a person who's like, if it's not the holidays, then it shouldn't be cold but, no matter. The cold won't kill me. I held my jacket close and continued to get to my destination. Garroth's dorm.
I'm not a student here but, I have special permission to go into Garroth's dorm since I am his Protector. There would be an issue if I couldn't. Besides, coming here every day makes it seem that I am a student. Without the books, work, and major stress that comes with it. I should know. My boyfriend refused to get any sleep during finals week last semester because of it. Of course, I forced him to. I have that certain touch with him.
I finally made it to the building and I let out a sigh of relief. I opened the door to warmth and I felt happy again. I walked up the stairs to the third floor and made it to Garroth's door. I just let myself in since I am privileged to do so. I smiled when I saw my Sun at his desk with EarPods in his ears listening to music. He was typing something on his laptop. Probably an essay or an email. I chuckled and snuck up behind him. I pulled out on of the pods from his ears, he looked confused at first but, I said into his ear, just in my inside voice this time;
"I'm here you lazy butt!"
He looked behind and saw me. He smiled brightly and jumped up to hug me.
"I'm so happy you are bird brain!"
"Hey!"
He wrapped my arms around him and spun him around in circles. He giggled as I did so and I placed him back on the ground. He adjusted his sweatshirt which he usually seared now a days. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it but, I miss his flannels. I fluffed his hair a bit, overwhelmed by his cuteness.
"You ready for dinner?" He asked, grabbing his phone, wallet, and jacket. "Did you pick where you want to go?"
I smiled and said;
"How about Zoie's Sushi?"
"Really?" He exclaimed in excitement, throwing on his coat and shoving his two items into his pockets. "I thought you hated sushi."
"I want to reward you for coming back on your last semester of college," I smirked. "You really were in a miss the last couple days of winter break."
He rolled his eyes and laughed;
"Can you blame me?"
I chuckled again and took his hand.
"Now do you want to go or not?"

"So, you're telling me that Zane has already got an internship at some lawyering company?"
""Lawyering Company"?"
"You know what I mean," I say, rolling my eyes.
"Yeah I do," He smiled, picking up another sushi roll with his chopsticks."Yeah. He's pretty excited about it."
"Man...how long does he have still?"
"Another three years. He wants his masters," Garroth shrugged. "It's weird, seeing your younger brother act so grown up already."
"Gar...he's twenty-one."
"So!?"
I laughed at his face. He's so adorable with his brothers and how protective he is with them. Especially after Gene...
"You're cute, you know that?" I asked, taking another roll myself.
"You're cute as well," He mumbles.
I take his hand from across the table and kiss the top of it.
"Why thank you babe," I say, smirking.
His face turned red and I couldn't help but fall in love with him all over again.
"N-No problem..."
Heh, stutter king.
"What's Vylad doing again?" I asked, being a bit forgetful.
"Photography and graphic design," He answered pouring more soy sauce on his tray. "He's stress about his projects...you were there when we were talking about it."
"Yeah but..."
"...But?"
"Are you worried?" I asked.
"About what?" He asked back.
"That...this is your last semester of school...ever. You already have a job ready for you and that's it. You don't have anything to fall back on."
Garroth softly smiled and said;
"Laur...I'm gonna be teacher. A history teacher for that matter. I'm sure I'll be fine."
"Correction," I say, holding up a finger. "A high school history teacher."
"So?"
"Stop saying "so"," I say, making the "so" sound very snobbish. It made Garroth laugh again though. "High school is a huge responsibility as a teacher. You're going to meet so many kids and be a part of their lives in a...mentor way. Some kids might come to you to ask serious questions. Like, what purpose do I have in this world? Am I doing life right?"
"Laurance calm down," My boyfriend said. "Trust me. I'm prepared. Right now, I need to focus on graduating and my student teaching at Meteli High. All you have to do is stand there and look handsome. Like always."
Why does he always make me feel happy? It's been four years and he still makes me flutter on the inside. I just can't wait till he graduates so we can start the next stage of our lives. I'm so over school...and I'm not even doing anything!
"It's getting late," Garroth sighed, checking the time on his phone. "I should head back to my dorm so I can get some sleep."
I gave him a look of disappointment.
"But we are having so much fun!"
"I have classes tomorrow babe," He sighed, looking disappointed as well. "I can't walk in with only three hours of sleep."
"Professor Oak won't mind! He freaking loves you! Besides, it's nine...your classes don't start till noon tomorrow..."
"Laur, I'm serious-"
I poured making him stop. He gave me a "really?" look. He rolled his eyes again and said;
"Come on," He says, grabbing his keys off the corner of the table. "Do you want to go to the movies or what?"
"Yes!"

"You are such a distraction to me," Garroth smiled sweetly at me.
"That's my job! I'm glad I got you away from that computer screen," I chuckled, opening the door to his dorm for him. "It's midnight...the perfect time for college students to go to bed."
"I've been in bed since since ten and I was enjoying my sleep!"
Irene help me. His stupid roommate.
"Sorry Blaze!" Garroth apologized. "We didn't mean to wake you up!"
"It's fine bro," Blaze mumbled. "I think you and your boyfriend are adorable so I don't mind..." I hated that werewolf. He's a pig honestly. He's majoring in physical therapy and to be honest it fits him. His loud and active personally drives me insane. "You two can make-out or whatever if you want. Don't mind me."
Not to mention he doesn't understand the definition of privacy. Just as I closed the door behind me in the dorm, I got a ding from my phone. I pulled it out of my coat pocket to see that it was Chad.
Emergency meeting at my office in one hour.
At midnight? That's not normal. Not normal for Chad anyway. He's usually off by now. I texted him that I'll be there. I put my phone back in my pocket and wrapped my arms around my boyfriend's waist from behind again. I whispered in his ear;
"I gotta go, it's Chad."
He looked back and nodded. I could tell that he was upset that I had to go but, he smiled and gave me small kiss.
"I'll see you tomorrow," He says. "Love you."
"Love you too," I say, smiling down at him and kissing his forehead before running out.
I made my way out of the building and summoned my wings after seeing that no one was there. My fire lit wings shined in the night and I flew up into the crisp, cool air.

Garroth's POV:
I really didn't want Laurance to leave. He was sort of my security blanket...quite literally. I also didn't like that Chad called him in for a meeting at midnight. That sounded off to me and gave me so many red flags.
"Bro, are you going to bed or no?" Blaze asked, raising his head a bit.
"Yeah...I am," I say, grabbing my PJ's to go change in the bathroom. "Sorry for waking you up-"
"Nah, it's okay Garthy-bro," He said with a smile. "I think it's pretty cool that you and your boyfriend are really close. It makes me happy seeing my college buddy so in love!"
I smiled and thanked him before heading out. He doesn't know about Laurance's job or ability yet. He's become a good friend of mine and it's weird having him not know. After most of my friends graduated last year, I only have him, Aphmau, and Dante. Aphmau and Dante our going for their masters as well since Aph is going into politics and Dante is going into aeronautical engineering. It's nice to have some friends who know the whole backstory of our relationship but, I sometimes forget and it slips out when Blaze is around. I pull it off as some thing Laurance is doing and he brushes it off. Let's just say, I somehow convinced him that Laurance is year older than me and that he graduated last year with some criminal justice degree last year.
As you can probably guess by now, I hate lying.
I get changed into my pjs and head back into my room. I heard that Blaze had already fallen asleep because of his loud snoring. I took a deep breath and threw my used clothes into my laundry. I jumped into bed, exhausted and pulled the covers over me. I looked up at the dark ceiling above me. It looked like there really was nothing above me and that it was just an empty abyss. I sighed and rolled over to my side, closing my eyes.
