Chapter four

I was sitting up in my tree scared to death. My wild curly black hair framed my face that was smeared with dirt.

"Jack?" said Joey. "Why are you out here?" "Shouldn't you be at home?" He asked.

"Um.....well....um... I."

"Do you live here?"

"Um.....well I built thi...." I said but he cut me off.

"Jack, do you live here." He said now sternly.

I was silent.

"I cant believe it; why didn't you tell me, no better question why do you live here?"

"Joey," I said while hopping down from my tree. "let me explain."

I told him how I got here and how I don't remember anything.

"Oh my word! We have to go tell somebody.'

"NO!' I screamed. "Joey please no it will mess everything up!" I begged my eyes full of tears.

"Jack, I have too, you could die out here!"

"Joey," I said more calmly now. "I've been doing this for seven years now, don't mess it up, I will be fine." "Please don't tell anyone."

"Fine." He said. "You seem to have this under control."

"OH THANK YOU!!!" I screamed as I gave him a hug. "You know I always thought of you as my family."

"Me too squirt, me too." He said as he rubbed my head.

After he left I sorta freaked out a bit.

"What if he tells someone!? He's really close to Mr. And Mrs. Dixon. Oh but he never would do that. Or would he? NO STOP IT HE WOULDN'T YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THAT!" That conversation kept spinning through my head for roughly an hour.

I was bored and tired. Mr. L. didn't need me today, so I decided to go adventuring. I walked deeper and deeper into the woods. I heard something behind me I turned around, but nothing was there. I kept walking. I heard the crunching of leaves behind me again. I slowly turned around. There stood a huge grizzly bear towering over me. I wanted to scream but I could not say anything. I looked up my eyes wind. I was standing there un-armed and scared to death. I turned around and dashed as fast as I could, leaving the bear far behind. I ran till I was completely out of breath. I sat down by a tree.

"Where I'm I."I asked myself. I didn't remember which direction I came from. "This could be bad." I thought. I got up and climbed to the top of the tree to see if I could see the town clock. I looked every direction, but I still didn't seen the clock. "Wheres the clock?" I asked myself again, as if it would make me think of an answer. I sat on the ground thinking. "Oh no." I thought to my self. "What if Joey notices I'm gone. Then he will tell someone." I let this sink in for a bit. Soon I got hungry. I looked around. Apple trees surrounded me. I got an apple. Hours later I fell asleep.

I woke up in the morning and looked around. I was scared to death thinking that the grizzly bear might find me. I got up and slowly looked around. I started walking towards where I thought I had found the bear (I know it sounds stupid to walk toward the problem, but it was the only way to get home). I walked extremely slowly, scared to see what was around the next corner. Things started to look more familiar but I still didn't know where I was. I could feel myself shaking. The wind blew briskly. I walked and walked. I began to get tired, and to lose all hope. but I couldn't stop now cause this was where I had seen the bear. I knew I was close to home but I didn't know which direction or how long it would take to get home. I climbed to the top of a tree but I still couldn't see the clock. I was shaking as I came down from the tree. I saw a figure. I quickly jumped behind a bush. The bear looked every where he came straight toward me. He crept closer and closer to me. I was scared to death. I started to creep around the bush. He came up to the bush. All the sudden I realize he walked straight passed me and didn't stop. "WHOA!' I thought. I couldn't believe he walked right passed me and didn't see me.

I continued walking. It started to get late and cold. Again the wind blew briskly and I shivered in it. I started to think I went the wrong way. "Oh gosh." I thought "Maybe I wont find home."
