Chapter 12

3rd person POV :

" Where did you get this video from? "  Vegas clenched his jaw looking at the video that Tay had sent him.

" What? Why are you so angry when you are looking so good in it? " Tay said with a smirk.

Time, Tay and Vegas were on a video call on Vegas' laptop and Vegas was lookin pretty pissed because of his and Pete's video recorded by Tay near the bakery.

" Don't f*ck with me. Why did you record this?! " Vegas said with his voice dripping in anger.

" What are you so pissed for huh? Anyways, so who is that guy? Beside you? Did you finally fall in love? C'mon don't be shy, tell us about it. Because you sure look like you are lost in love with this guy in here. " Tay said with a smile in a dreamy tone.

" Hah! Lost in love? Stop bulls*itting with me. Do you really think I out of all people would be in love? " Vegas sneered as he banged his hands on the table sending tremors throughout.

Tay's eyes widened suddenly and he tried to warn vegas about something but was interrupted by him.

" Vega- " Tay tried to warn him but he was not in the mood to listen anymore.

" It's true that I have been flirting with him since day one, pretending to be so in love but that doesn't mean I really am in love with him. " Vegas snickered not paying a heed to the worried faces of Tay and Time.

" Listen here you two! Do not dare to say anything again about me being in love with him. He has no value for me. He's only a pastime for me, I am just toying me with right now only because it's boring in here and I find his expressions quite interesting...but I'll just toss him aside once I lose interes- " but before Vegas could complete his sentence Tay screamed at him to turn back finally making him turn.

Pete was standing at his doorstep looking directly at him with an extremely cold expression as if there never was even a bit of warmth in him.
The change in his demeanor from the warmest sunshine to the coldest night even gave Vegas shivers.

" I am sorry for interrupting your conversation Khun Vegas " Pete said with a straight face devoid of even a single expression. He looked like a stone, to the point that even hatred wasn't visible on his face.

Unfortunately though, his feelings betrayed him. A tear drop fell from his left eye but he didn't pay any attention to it. As if he didn't know about it. He didn't wipe it or run away but kept standing infront of him to deliver the message acting as if he had forgotten about every memory that they had created together.

" Khun Kinn has requested for you. " He said, bowed and left the room, leaving vegas alone in there, completely dumbfounded seeing the sudden change in him.

But as soon as reason knocked into his mind, he ran without giving anything else a single thought. He didn't know why he was running behind him but the only thing that was coming into his mind at the moment was that he didn't want to lose pete.

" Wait, pete! " Vegas finally caught up to him and grabbed his hand, making him turn but pete immediately swatted his hand away.

" Pete..." Vegas said in a whisper looking at him.

" Do you need something Khun Vegas? " Pete said in an extremely formal tone shocking Vegas.

" Pete...I-I am sorry. " Vegas said as his eyes started to well up a little. He couldn't understand why he was so desparately wanting pete to stay but he longer had his sanity intact after seeing him like that.

But instead of saying " it's ok " and forgiving him like he had thought pete usually would do, he sneered at vegas making him loose all hopes of being able to stop him.

" What are you sorry for Khun Vegas? " Pete said in a snarky tone.

" I should be the one to apologise if anything, for forgetting that the only relation that exists between us is merely the one of an employer and an employee. " He said mockingly.

" No- " vegas muttered in a whisper not being able to believe if the pete standing infront of him was the real one.

" I should be the one to apologise...I am sorry for getting ahead of myself. " He said looking straight into his eyes.

Vegas could see the tears in Pete's eyes but he holding them back with all his might, not letting them flow at all.

Pete bowed down and left the place not letting Vegas even utter a word.
But he stopped mid-way and turned towards Vegas again, giving him a slight hope.

" And I apologise for falling for your tricks. " He said before finally leaving the place crushing every single bit of hope Vegas had.

Upon reaching his room, pete immediately shut the door. As soon as he did it, the wave of despair he had been holding back finally broke free making him crumble. He slumped on the floor and tears started flowing uncontrollably from his eyes. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't hold them back anymore.

He bit his hand hard to stop crying but nothing seemed to work.

" Stop f*cking crying!!! " He screamed at himself and out of frustration started hitting himself.

" It's all your damned fault! STOP WITH THOSE DAMNED TEARS!! " He screeched as he kept scratching himself making his arms bleed.

" YOU REALLY THOUGHT YOU DESERVE TO BE LOVED?! DON'T FORGET YOUR PLACE!! " Pete said to himself in a tone filled with pure hatred. He was looking as if he was in some kind of trance. As if the words he was mumbling weren't his own but originally belonged to someone else.

He closed his ears as he kept rocking back and fourth, shivering because of a certain memory.

It was a memory of him getting kicked by his father, his father kept hitting him wounding up his arms and legs. He slammed his head against the wall making his head bleed and threw him into the dark washroom before locking it from outside. No matter how much he begged him to let him out, nobody heard his cries, nobody came to his rescue and he was left on the washroom floor, bloodied and feeling completely helpless waiting for sweet death to come and consume him and free him from every wordly pain and sufferance.
At that moment he felt as if the image of a loving father he had seen in his father since childhood was a mere lie, a mere façade. The words he was muttering belonged to his father. The sudden revelation of the love shown by Vegas being a mere act had brought back the memories of the past making him suffer even more.

Pete was facing difficulty in breathing and was trembling out of fear upon  the sudden remembrance of that horrible memory.

" I'm just like a puppet to everyone, aren't I? A mere puppet that can be casted away anytime. " Pete muttered as he laughed at himself.

Right then his phone rang and the caller ID showed that it was a call from his grandma, but he wasn't in the state to answer it. He had momentarily lost all his mental sanity and knew that he wouldn't be able to take it anymore after listening to her voice and didn't want to get her worried by crying infront of her.

So after the phone stopped ringing, he switched it off and threw it away before curling up on the floor, shivering and shuddering. Slowly his consciousness started fading and within a few moments all his eyes could see was a never-ending darkness in front of them.

Pete's POV:

It was nearly late afternoon when I woke up after passing out from crying. I remembered about my grandma's call and instantly picked my phone to call her back.

As soon as I switched it on, I was hit with the notification of 10 missed calls from her. My mind immediately went blank not wanting to even think about the possibility of anything going wrong. Afterall, she was my everything, the only person I had in the whole lonely world.

I dialed her number and kept praying for her to pick it up and after a while someone finally received the call, but to my utter shock, the voice that came from the other end wasn't of my grandma's...

" H-hello? Who's this? Where's my grandma? " I asked impatiently.

" She...she...passed away early in the afternoon today... " The voice said sounding nervous.

" What?! Stop lying!! I know this isn't the truth!! Where the HELL IS MY GRANDMA?!! " I screamed at the person on the other end completely losing my patience and rationality.

" I know it must be a shocking news for you, but just listen to me, you were all she could think of in her last moments, she just wanted to talk to you in her last times, so we even tried to contact you but you didn't pick up and then your phone went off. Her dying wish was that you should be the one to cremate her, that's why we have been waiting for you. Please come here as soon as you can. " The voice said before disconnecting the call.

I was just left in the room, speechless, immobile and in utter despair. The guilt of not being able to remain beside her in her last moments along with the pain of losing my first love finally compelled me to turn off any emotion left within me, any sense of sanity, any sense of reason, each one of my human qualities, leaving me as a mere shell without a soul or mind - a mere stone to be precise.
