Fātum

Bag slung over my shoulder as I carefully sneak out of the cave. Diving behind a rock I hide from the drone. Zarkon has yet to find us on this moon and I will keep it that way. The battle just outside of the atmosphere grew more and more intense.

I should go back inside.
Nonsense now is the perfect time to gather food. They're distracted.
But if I'm caught...
well let's not think about that.

Grumbling underneath my breath I shuffle closer to the deserted farm. Trees full of zendle berries craving to be picked as the shore is buzzing with the sea life. They're fear for intelligent life now forgotten. Stuffing the bag full with berries and crabs only to freeze. The male floating in the sea pulled at my attention.

The mission. Leave him.
But-
-no.

Ignoring my commander I rush into the sea pulling him to the shore.

I can't let him die!

Carefully I glance around my surroundings. Taking a deep breath I focus myself to summon the shadows. Wrapping them around the male's torso as I carry him back to base. The drones increased surveillance now as the battle seemed to be calming down. Zarkon is winning.

What else is new?
Shut up! I need to focus!

Wincing as my grasp on him weaken slightly. Now I physically feel his weight. Which was much lighter than I expected, but beside the point. Breathing deeply once more I strengthen the shadows around his torso to continue carrying him with ease. Arriving at the cave I carefully rest the male on one of our few beds before handing my bag full of food to the commander.

"What were you thinking? You could have compromised our location!" He yells at me. Shrinking in my form I keep my eyes on my feet.

"I can't let him die or hand him over to the galra. He is apart of the battle so he is fighting for us right?" His eyes narrow towards me. "So we shouldn't betray him by handing him over to endless torture,"

"Dear, she does have a point," my mom says slightly grasping onto the commander. With a sigh he falls into his spot at the table.

"Last time you bring strangers home. Got it?" I vigorously nod my head looking at the entrance of the cave.

Taking a deep breath I summon the shadows once more to drop the boulder in the entrance. Darkness is our safety blanket. Mom scrabbles in the dark to find our one candle and lights it.

"Well this is a good haul," she murmurs storing the berries in a bowl and the crabs in our creek.

Grumbling I stir on the stone ground. A yelp drew my attention causing me to sit up. Only to fall back to the ground pain electrifying my back.

"You're still healing," a soft voice coos. Looking towards the voice only to sit back up and press myself against the wall. She shrunk slightly as she opens her mouth. "I know I am scary looking,"

She didn't lie. Her skin is white with her irises. Her eyes themselves are purple but where the white parts of my eyes are black for her. If that wasn't already unsettleling enough her horns like a rams curl around her pointed ears. Fangs in her mouth, and sharp claw like nails. She looks like a demon.

She would if it were not for her long curly pink hair, or her shy demeanor. Sighing I scoot closer to her.

"Sorry that was rude of me," I stammered lying back down. I notice the bandages in her hands now. "What were you doing?"

"Dressing your head wound. Your helmet broke and it took a while to get it off without hurting you,"

"Thank you for taking care of me, not many people would in this time."

The next couple days I spent lying down to avoid shooting pain. With help from Noname I got my armor off to sleep more comfortably. She would leave once a day to gather food. The commander glares at me or ignores me completely. His wife doesn't, she helps almost as much as Noname. My helmet won't contact the castle of lions, or the other paladins.

If Pidge was here my helmet wouldn't be a problem. They're probably better off without me. I'm just the seventh wheel, no real skills not really a vital part of the team.
Now aren't you just a ball of sunshine

I jump at Noname's voice. Looking around the room I fail to find her.

You should probably calm down.

Her voice echoes in my head. Scoffing the commander glares towards me once more.

"Idiot girl. We can hear the thoughts of those around us. But we can also speak to you through your thoughts. All Zenirians can. But not all of us can do the shadow thing Noname does. Get it? Good." He curtly spoke not allowing me to respond.

An awkward tension cling to the air making it unbearable to lie on the ground. When she finally returns the tension fades slightly. The conversation they had through their minds was obvious by the way the my motion with their hands. I however, can't hear the conversation.

"Well, looks like a green lion has been spotted in the planets atmosphere. Sadly that doesn't include this moon,"
