Daniel- Chapter 46
Okay, remember what I told you. Never freak out. Just breathe. And if you need me or you're feeling ill, call me. If you're having anxiety, feel free to call me. You've got this." I said encouragingly. She smiled back sweetly. She held my hand under the table.
" I don't know what to expect, really. So, I'll do the resting-bitch face most of the day." She murmured. Her outfit was exactly as planned and she looked fashionable in my eyes. She had me dye half her hair platinum blonde and her bangs opposite. I straightened her hair this morning upon request and left her bangs alone. She looked at me. I could tell she was seriously worried, no matter what.
She had a tear drop drawn on her cheek using eyeliner and put on a minimal amount of makeup. I loved my niece, who was just like me in a lot of ways. It was almost unreal how much we had in common. Like our irrational fear of the dark. We stood up for hours talking about what we saw ourselves doing if we had goals and My Asexuality and her Polysexuality. She surprisingly had a strange fear of being with a non-binary person, for fear of addressing them the wrong way. We both had things in life we wanted to figure out in our lives. It got me a lot closer to her.
" I'm also sad... About something."
" What is it?"
" I'm... There's nothing...very... Pretty about me. I'm plain. And there's nothing special about me. I could get punched across the room and I could die. You could... You could hold your own. I-"
" 1. You are absolutely gorgeous and I mean every word of it. And 2. You are special. I can feel it. Now get your bag and get in the car." I told her lovingly. She finished her breakfast and put her plate in the sink. It was a 15 minute drive, which was good. It saved a lot of gas and in case I needed to get there in an emergency, It was convenient.
" Hey, are you alright?" I asked. I saw her internally freaking out."
" I'm worried. What if no one likes me?"
" That doesn't particularly matter." I parked a little closer to the campus so she could get in quicker. These rich parents spoiled there kids dearly with a slew of cars. BMW's Suburbans, ferrari's and others. I preferred my Prius, but, I thought of that a little less.
" Bye Bye Uncle Daniel. " she whispered, hugging me tightly. I watched her enter the school building and I noticed something. Everyone was dressed in Burgundy or Khaki, and she was the only girl in black and gray. I sat there in my seat thinking
' Oops '.
BLAISE
" Young lady!" Someone screeched. My airpods were in, so I heard her from a distance.
" Excuse me. " I stopped, taking out my airpod case and putting my airpods away.
" Yes?" A stout fat lady with brown hair squinted her eyes at me.
" It seems you aren't complying with our school's dress code. Why?" I looked at her in pure confusion.
" I'm sorry, I'm new and-"
" Oh dear, silly me!" She laughed heartily. " My name is Mrs. Colden, your dean. Welcome to Jensen Preparatory Academy. In the letter sent to your house, it informed you of the uniform you had to wear?"
" Oh, can we talk about this privately? And thank you, it is my first day and my mom and dad were away, so I'm with my Uncle."
" Alright dear. I'll walk you to the principal's office so you can get your timetable." I followed her, who was surprisingly faster than me. I ran down stairs to catch up to her. The office was painted yellow and had burgundy furniture. A large banner with a Bali Tiger was hanging across windows that were centered. Mrs. Colden knocked on the principal's door. A woman dressed in Khaki's and a Burgundy polo opened the door. We walked in the off together. Her blonde hair was pulled back and tied into a neat bun.
" Blaise Delacroix?" I nodded.
" What happened? You weren't in school and you missed a lot of instruction."
My face flushed hard. " I'm sorry. I got injured. Though I'm still not fully recovered I was thankfully able to make an appearance."
" What happened?"
" I got several large cuts on my legs from falling in a pile of glass." They both winced.
" I see. That's probably why the fluffy cargo's, right?" I nodded.
" Alright. Here's your schedule, your locker assignment and here's your elevator pass. There's breakfast in the cafeteria. I'll send you a school tour guide, soon. For now, you have 15 minutes until your homeroom. Get better soon, honey." I nodded and thanked her. " Oh and one more thing. You technically have a detention. I'm sorry. Even though it was unintentionally, I still have to report it. Adorable outfit thought!" I nodded and left. I took the elevator to the 5th floor for my Homeroom Trigonometry. Luckily, my locker was a few feet away from the classroom. I emptied my book bag in the locker and took my small binder and a pen. I locked my grey locker and entered the classroom.
" Hello?" An average height Asian woman sat at the front of the classroom. I went to her desk. Her room had many plants and art all over the walls. Math posters were also plastered around the potted flowers.
" Hi, I'm Blaise Delacroix. I was injured for a while so I haven't been in for a while. I have your class for homeroom." She nodded, tying her hair in a knot.
" Alright. Sit. I'm Ms. Tanaka. I'll be with you in a moment, just let me gather information for you." I chose a 3rd row seat closer to the center. I set down my binder and my pen. There was this sign close to the Promethean that read " You can do it!" I hoped it was so. One by one, kids trickled into the classroom
I noticed the vast majority of students at this school were clearly... White. Because before I noticed that, I noticed a lot of colored kids sat closer to each other, which couldn't be a coincidence... Could it? I wasn't sure.
" Excuse me." I looked up at a girl who was blonde and had crystal clear eyes. Her uniform fit kind of tightly. She looked like someone I should avoid. " What are you doing in my seat, freak?" Everyone laughed at that. A lot of the jocks that sat towards the back howled unnecessarily.
" I'm sorry, Rachel. You'll have to find another seat. I assigned her there because she's missed a lot. You have all the material, I'm not worried about you. Let her stay there for the rest of the semester." I was grateful to Ms. Tanaka, but Rachel glared daggers at me, but moved a row down. The lesson began, and so did the questions from everybody.
