Chapter 19
" It has been so long... I wished to keep you out of this. To give you a chance at a normal life. But... It seems you couldn't escape this."
" What do you mean?"
" You have more power than your father. You are so powerful, you could kill me right now with the amount of power you possess. You were never meant to live among humans, no matter how hard I hid you. I could try. That was all."
" What did I need to hide from?" That seemed to be a touchy question.
" Your father. He was going to kill you as soon as he sensed how much power you had. So I sent the two of you away. You two lived on your own, and I only came to visit. He inquired about you often. But, I shut him down every time.
" I preferred you to stay that way. He found you at one point, and things got ugly. That is why you have one scar. Under your arm. I gave your memories to your brother to hold. I feel like I absolutely abandoned you. But, you were safer.
" I made it so not even your brother could track you. But... Your father obliterated my body. I sent my essence into Carter's pet guinea pig. I'm just trying to rebuild myself, but this host is dying. I don't know how to do this without your help.
" I am weak now. But... You have a chance. I just need a portion of your power to reform my body before this guinea pig dies." My brain broke, in that moment.
" I don't remember any spells, or... Anything really."
" It's not a spell. Carter can show you what to do." I looked at carter.
" Do you know any energy transfer spells?"
" Yes." He whispered. He went to grab a huge blanket and covered me and mom. I touched mom and held Carter's hand. I felt an electric shock that took away a lot of my energy. I immediately passed out.
" Cassandra." A voice whispered. I was between sleep and consciousness.
" Cassandraaa." She whispered. My mother's voice? I forced my eyes open.
" Get some water, please!" She called to Carter. I heard him run off.
" Mom... I whispered. My lips felt cracked. I felt her kiss my collar bone. Carter came back with a bottle of water. Mom helped me sit up to drink it. I took a few sips.
" How long have I been out?"
" A day in a half." My mother said calmly. I jolted in her arms.
" Michael!" I shouted. I jumped out of bed and ran to get my shoes.
" Please take me back. Quickly Carter!"
" What's happened?" My mom asked.
" I've probably worried him." I whispered. My mom looked at me funny.
" Ohhh, He was sent as my caregiver but he's more like my boyfriend. He just doesn't really know it yet." Carter gave me a grin. I knew he was holding back a laugh.
" Please come back." Mom begged.
" Of course I'll come back. Or you can come with me. It's my house. He just cleans it." I shrugged. She hesitantly came with us. We reappeared at the edge of a clearing.
" Take mom to the house. I'm going to be around and about." Carter whispered. We nodded. I held my mother's hand and we walked over to the house. She stood behind me when we went into the house. She didn't come in at first and I didn't notice it.
" Michael?" I called softly. He was at the door frame. He stared at me, his eyes wide. Before I knew it, he tackled me in a deep hug.
" I was worried when I couldn't find you anywhere. Why do you always make me worry, Bella?"
" I'm sorry. I want you to meet my mom." I added cheerfully. She stepped in, assessing Michael.
" Demon?" She gasped.
" Mom-"
" No it wasn't anything against him. I just didn't expect this." She said. She sat at the dining room table.
" Can I get you anything Ma'am?"
" Maybe some water is all." He nodded and sent off for some water.
" So... He's you're boyfriend?"
" Well, yes." I said, blushing.
" Have you...?"
" Yes." I answered. A small smile played on her lips.
" So... Wait, have you had sex before him, or...?"
" I had a boyfriend when I was 18 in high school before I got kidnapped. He was my first. I worked for someone in France Michael knows. He was my second." I murmured.
" My gosh. You've known more guys in 2 years than I've known in my life, Cassandra." She chuckled.
" Mom!" I grumbled.
" There's nothing wrong with you having sex. Just... Know what could happen, the risks... Stay protected." I blushed darkly. She chuckled.
" I've never had protected sex before." I told her. She let out a snort-like laugh.
" Well, nevermind, I guess."
" I love him a lot... But... He seems to be... Slightly distant sometimes." I said finally. Michael came in with two glasses.
"Here you are." He set it down on the table. She nodded her thanks.
" I knew you might have been in a relationship... I just did not think the two of you had gotten this far." She chuckled.
" Your lunch is on the kitchen table." He told me. I nodded. I ran off. He made eggplant parmesean from scratch. I knew he made the cheese himself. He was such a sweetheart sometimes. I grumbled at my throbbing heart. I dug in and as usual, I was not disappointed. It was delicious. I cleaned my dish and put it away. I walked over to the dining room and saw the two arguing. I stopped. They both looked up at me. My mother's face showed shame and Michael looked sorry. I turned around and walked up the stairs. I went to my room. I closed my door. This was so embarrassing.
" Please let me in, Bella. I want to talk to you." He whispered through the door.
" Come in." I whispered glumly. He opened the door. He closed it and sat next to me.
" I wanted to apologize."
" You guys are embarrassing."
" Not about that. You were right to say I was suppressing my feelings for you. I just don't want to lose control with you. I want to love you... But... You could say I'm afraid of real love." He whispered, looking down at his lap. I sighed.
" I'm sorry about our arguement too. I did not intentionally mean to be so ill-mannered in your presence." He whispered. My blush grew. I was having ill-mannered thoughts about him and his shirt. I lie on his chest and bit my lip. His hand rest on my head.
" I'm so in love with you. I don't want to be scared. But I am." He confessed, his voice slowly shaking. I rest my hand on his boxer line, because we both knew what I wanted.
" Take your mother home first. Come back to me later." He whispered. I nodded. I looked all over for my mother. She was gone. I couldn't feel her anymore. She had left already. I walked back upstairs. Michael had removed his shirt and gosh, he looked like a god. He saw me and I immediately closed the door behind me.
