Blaise- Chapter 44
I lie in bed, still sad. It seemed everyone forgot about me, once again. My cuts were now, welty and closing, but still beyond painful. My walking was progressing. I had missed the first week of school and was dreading being the only girl who hadn't learned anything.
I didn't even know my classmates, yet I wanted to crucify them all. I sighed. I got up and pulled on my robe. I walked slowly down the stairs, as to not hurt myself. Nobody was around-
" Blaise, are you alright, kid?" Daniel made me jump. I easily lost my balance. Daniel quickly stabilized me on my feet and sat me down in a chair.
" Are you hungry?" I nodded.
" Okay."
" Nobody has been around to help me, so I had to do stuff on my own." His face dropped sadly.
" I'll tell you what. I'll stay and help you out." He declared. I slowly nodded. He got to work making me breakfast and made himself some coffee. I didn't care for coffee at all.
" You don't like coffee?"
" I mean, not really." I mumbled, thinking of what I like.
" So what's your favorite bev?"
" I like lemonade but I also like peppermint infused milk and peppermint hot chocolate."
" I'll make you some lemonade, how about that?" I nodded. I waited for him to finish working magic on the stove. Whatever he was making made my stomach growl loudly.
He chuckled. I blushed, embarrassed. It took him some time, but I was patient. He set down a coaster for my lemonade and set my plate of waffles, eggs and bacon. He made for himself too and set down his coffee.
" So. How are things going?" I asked him casually. He laughed at that first, than sighed, deeply chuckling.
" I'm okay. I just didn't think you would ask me something so casual. I'm alright. How are you?"
" My cuts still sting. I'm worried."
" Well, what about?"
" Having to go to school. I don't know what I should even do."
" Well... Sorry. You'll have to figure it out on your own. All I can beg is you not tell the whole school you're from a family of demons. It's not a typical thing, so..."
" I just figured. That's not the thing to do." I mumbled stuffing my face.
" Don't talk while you're eating. You're at bigger risk of choking than me." I rolled my eyes, eating my breakfast. He drank his coffee in small amounts, I noted. I downed the lemonade, which was cold as It was delicious. Daniel walked me back to my room.
" Hey, Uncle Dan?"
" Yeah?"
" Where's my mom?" He looked away and sighed.
" I don't know, kiddo. I don't." He said, looking over at me. I paused and continued up the steps. Daniel was patient. He got me up the rest of the stairs and walked me to my room.
" I'm gonna need help."
" Okay. With what?"
" Get my toothbrush." He nodded, got my toothbrush and left. I was grateful for him right now. Everyone seemed to be acting funny. The only person that ever came by to see me now was My grandma. And my mom hated her. I quickly showered and pulled on my robe. I had to quickly dress in shorts and a shirt. I looked around my room for my anti bacterial ointment.
" Uncle!" I yelled.
" Yeah?"
" Where's my Anti-Bacterial?"
" I have it." I threw on my slippers and walked to his room. His room was way too neat. Everything in colored order. His books were alphebatized along an entire wall.
" You can sit over there, hun." I nodded. Beside all his books were 2 chairs. His room had bright warm light that went nicely with the other brown interior like his desk and curtains. I sat and waited. He went to the bathroom and washed his hands first. He took the ointment and helped me put it on some of the cuts. For the larger one along my calf, he helped me treat and bandage.
" Is it too tight?"
" No. Thank you." I hopped off the seat and gave my uncle a big hug. It took him by surprise but he chuckled and accepted it. My slippers were on crookedly so I had to fix them up. I slipped them on and ran to my uncle's closet. I saw so many different colored crew neck pull-over sweaters. Some were meant to look bigger than the others. I took a heather grey one.
" So, I just texted your mom. I don't think she's gonna be home anytime soon. Her and your father are trying to work things out." He said, looking at his phone and than back at me. My face dropped.
" I know. I'm sorry." He sighed.
" You'll stay, right?" I asked, worried.
" Of course I'm staying. Are you open to going to school this week?"
" Well..." I sighed " I need to find something that doesn't chafe against my cuts, but looks okay on me. And it's too cold to wear shorts outside..."
" If it's clothes you need help finding, never fear. I can help." I paused, wondering if he was really serious about this.
" Thanks." I said, bubbily. I grabbed his hand and dragged him to my room. We looked in my closet, trying to get ideas. My smile dropped at an idea I had, but quickly faded.
" What's with the face kiddo?"
" I would love to wear this heather crew neck and a white button down underneath. It would go quite well with that plaid skirt, but my legs..." He nodded in realization.
" Well, you could wear these pants. They're kind of loose but they look alright." He handed me a pair of black cargo pants. My chains would go well with them and so would a brooch do between my collar. I could wear high top Vans with this.
" Oh... Yeah! This could work..." I put the accessories and parts together.
" I'm so glad I could help." He murmured, smiling.
I put everything together in a neat folded pile." Hey uncle?"
" Yeah?"
" Are you gay by chance?" Looking at his face was too funny, to put it easily. He turned beet red.
" No. I'm... Asexual." He answered slowly, still quite embarrassed by that question.
" Cool! You probably won't give me any cousins. Good. I won't have any competition." He looked at me in pure shock and confusion.
" I know what you mean. But do YOU know you mean?"
" I said, it's cool that you're Asexual. You won't give me any cousins, meaning the obvious. So I won't need to compete with anything for your attention. Do you need anymore proof that I'm highly educated and know what I'm talking about?" He looked at me in a new light and came over to hug me.
" Even if I had children... Which is highly unlikely... You would never have to fight for my attention, Blaise. You'll always have my heart." He turned us both around.
" Do you see us? In that mirror?" I nodded slowly
" We look so similar. We get that from my dad. We're family, so that means I'd do anything for you, kid."
" Like get me more food?" I giggled, smiling
" Jeez you have a big appetite." He chuckled. We ran downstairs together to get snacks.
