Three Musketeers
I stare out of the window of Danni's cosy convertible, blinking as the world flys by me. We left the central area of town long ago, and have been cruising down windy country roads, which appear to get narrower with each twist and turn. My anxiety is fighting to overwhelm me. The sky is darkening before us, and, well, we've all seen plenty of films to know how these stories usually end.
"Where are we? I don't recognise this area, " I queried, scanning the horizon with intrigue.
Danni turns to meet my gaze for a second, her pretty eyes sparkling in the low light. "We're not lost Kat. Don't worry, I've been to Jacobs house before."
I nod, not satisfied in the slightest, and she shifts her attention back to the road. Dannielle may be flawless in the looks department, but when it comes to directions she's shockingly poor. I gaze through the front windscreen, squinting my eyes to try and decipher the dusty road signs.
"What did that sign say?" She mumbles to herself, peering over her shoulder to look back through the rear window.
"Danielle," I quip, speaking her name clearly. "You have no idea where we are, do you?"
"Of course I do, Kat," she giggles nervously. "Just ring Jacob and ask him if it's past that church on the left."
I narrow my eyes at her perfect profile. "Why do I have to ring him?"
"Because I'm driving, obviously."
Grumbling to myself in a low tone, I slip my phone from my pocket and proceed to stare bitterly at the screen. As I'm about to swipe my fingers across the screen my phone bursts into song, the ringtone piercing the silence of the car. I grimace at the name flashing on the screen.
"Why do you have him under Sex God?" Danni asks teasingly, whilst not bothering to retain her massive grin.
"Shut up, just drive," I growl back lifting the phone to my ear.
"Where are you Kitten?" Jacob demands immediately. " It's almost half past seven."
"Well, hello to you too," I scoff sarcastically. "Danielle has got us completely and utterly lost," I sigh and she stiffens beside me.
A number of male chuckles echo through the speaker, causing me to bite down on my lip in irritation. I wait in silence whilst a discussion takes place on his end of the phone.
He clears his throat, "well, where are you now?"
I turn to Danni, who pulls a puzzled expression and shrugs.
"Err, well, we don't actually know," I reply awkwardly.
Cue male laughter again.
"Have you got me on loud speaker?" I bark into the phone.
"Maybe," he replies in a teasing manner. "Ok. Anything you can pinpoint that will help us find you?"
Just as Jacob finishes speaking, the car begins to produce a peculiar grinding noise. It clonks about awkwardly on the road, spluttering and groaning, before rolling to a steady halt close to a hedge. Danni's eyes meet mine and we both stare wide-eyed at each other.
My hand falls from my face, and I stare out the window into the darkness. She twists the key in the ignition, in a desperate attempt to bring life back to the car, but it does nothing but groan. Finally, she lets her head fall to the steering wheel in defeat.
"Hello? What's that horrible noise? Kitten?" Jacob's tone brings my attention back to the phone still grasped between my fingers.
I slowly bring it back to my ear.
"That was the sound of the car breaking down," I squeak meekly into the phone, waiting for another onslaught of laughter.
Im unsure how much time passes before Jacob pulls up behind the lifeless vehicle at the side of the road. Blackness blankets the sky and with no street lights to illuminate the area, we have little light at our disposal. Danni did have a torch, that she possessed in case of emergencies, but the battery died a good twenty minutes ago.
I observe from the comfort of the car, as three men emerge from the flash vehicle. My back unwillingly stiffens against the seat, as my mind automatically jumps to conclusions.
Three men, two women. Outnumbered.
However, Danni has a large smile imprinted on her face as she gracefully climbs out of the front seat and pulls one of the men into an embrace. He's taller than her but only by a couple of inches.
"Ollie," she squeals happily.
I notice quickly that one of the guys has disappeared, and nearly jump out of my skin when there's a knock on the glass window to my left. Jacob grins at me from behind the metal door. Narrowing my eyes at him, I swing the door open and clamber out of the car.
"This is all your fault," I grit out between my teeth.
His smile widens as he slings an arm over my shoulders, pulling me roughly against his side. I gulp inwardly and become rigid under his hold, whilst I attempt to control my heavy breathing. His arm drops steadily, almost as if he senses my unease
"Kitten," he coos "This is Oliver Sinclair and Tomas Harper," he motions to the tall brunette talking to Danielle, and then the slightly shorter blonde rifling through the bonnet of my friends car.
Tomas glances up from beyond the car bonnet and gives me a small smile. He's blonde, well more of a dirty blonde, and rather rugged . It takes great effort to peel my eyes away from those incredibly defined biceps, as he tampers with Danielle's car. His white t shirt is torn, and his jeans littered in a type of black oil.
He looks like a guy who likes to get dirty.
I lift my gaze back up, and jump back in fright when I realise that the other man is stood directly in front of me.
Definitely invading my personal space.
My eyes shift to meet his and immediately I feel my cheeks flush. His mischievous, copper eyes scan mine for a moment, until he reaches forward and pins me against his firm chest. My eyes widen in shock and I release an involuntary squeak. I glare hard at Jacob trying to stifle a snicker.
"It's great to meet you Kitty," I sense the smile in Ollie's voice. "But call me Ollie."
I blink quickly.
This guy obviously has no idea what personal space is!
Even so, he smells bloody delicious..
I let go of the breath I've been holding as he finally frees me. Where Tomas is hard and muscular, Ollie is cute and boyish. His wide grin is warm and inviting and his eyes appear to be constantly alight with mischief. He's the type of guy most women would swoon over.
And I bet he gets away with murder with that smile.
"It's nice to meet you too, Ollie," I reply awkwardly, distributing my weight from foot to foot.
I'm such an idiot. I'm able to dance practically naked in front of a room full of people, but put me face to face with an attractive guy and I turn to slush.
"Sorry Danni, this ain't going anywhere tonight."
Tomas slams the bonnet shut, and turns to see Danni pouting beside him. He rolls his blue eyes skyward at her and chuckles.
"We can leave her here for tonight, and come back first thing tomorrow morning. I can't do anything until I get her to the garage."
"Ok," Danni cries, clearly unhappy with the outcome.
"She'll be fine, we're like out in the sticks," he concludes scouting the area.
"Yeah, Dan. How the hell did you get all the way out here?"
One dangerous glare at Ollie and he seems to get the hint, not to press further on the subject.
"Ok then. Everyone back to mine," Jacob announces cheerily.
We pile into the back of Jacob's Mercedes. I'm in the middle, sandwiched between Dannielle and Ollie. It's a tight squeeze. These cars aren't exactly designed for five passengers at once.
The scent of male cologne and hormones is strong in the air, even as I'm sat next to Danni. I sigh to myself and rest my head against the back of the seat. Saved by the three musketeers.
A/N: Hey! Sorry this is a little late >.<
Do you all like Tomas and Ollie? (I mean who wouldn't aha!)
