Twilight Sparkle and Spike had left the library after reading the scroll. They both left Canterlot in a golden chariot that was being pulled by two pegasi guards. As they were being pulled through the sky in the chariot, Spike continued to read the scroll. "My dear Twilight, there is more to a young pony's life than studying, so I'm sending you to supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in this years location, Ponyville. And I have an even more essential task for you to complete, make some friends." Twilight groaned at the thought of making friends. That was something that she did not want to do.

"Look on the bright side Twilight. The Princess arranged for you to stay in a library. Doesn't that make you happy?" Spike said while trying to lift her spirits. Twilight suddenly jolted up smiling, "yes, yes it does. You know why? Because I'm right. I'll check on the preparations as fast as I can. Then get to the library to find some proof of Nightmare Moons return." "Then...when will you make friends like the Princess said?" Spike asked as the chariot that they were riding in started to descend to the ground with Ponyville in sight.

"She said to check on preparations. I am her student, and I'll do my royal duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making friends." Twilight finished just as the pegasi landed their chariot on the grounds of Ponyville. There were ponies walking in all different directions, and the houses were lined up one against another in all different ways. This made Ponyville seem like a lively town with lots of things going on.

The two pegasi guards reared and neighed signaling that Twilight and Spikes chariot ride was over as they had reached their destination. "Thank you sirs." Twilight said to them before turning to walk off with Spike. "Maybe the ponies in Ponyville have interesting things to talk about." The purple dragon said in hopes that Twilight would make at least one friend.

A pink earth pony was happily walking through Ponyville when she came across Twilight and Spike. She had a light pink coat and dark pink curly hair accompanied by her big blue eyes and a cutie mark that has three balloons. The pony stopped in front of them when Spike had started to say something. "Come on Twilight, just try." Twilight looked at the pink pony nervously before saying, "uh...hello?" The pink pony suddenly gasped loudly as she jumped into the air with a purely shocked expression on her face. She quickly darted away without saying a word leaving Twilight and Spike surprised by her sudden action.

"Well that was interesting alright." The unicorn walked off with Spike following behind who sighed in defeat at the attempted friendship with the pink pony. The two made their way down a dirt path to a place in Ponyville that resembled a farm. There were crops everywhere, lots of apple trees, a chicken coop, some pigs, and a big red barn in the center of the farm.

Spike took out a scroll and started to read it. "Summer Sun Celebration, official overseers checklist. Number one, banquet preparations, Sweet Apple Acres." They entered the farm and looked around. "Yeehaw!" Twilight and Spike looked over to see an orange earth pony with yellow hair tied at the ends. She had green eyes, a cutie mark with three red apples, and she was wearing a brown cowgirl hat. The earth pony ran over to an apple tree, then she turned and bucked the tree behind her. The apples that were once on the tree fell off from it being shaken so hard. There were five buckets lined around the tree and the apples fell directly into the buckets. The orange pony crossed her right leg in front of her left leg proudly for the work she had done.

Twilight sighed before starting her walk over to the earth pony. "Let's get this over with." Spike quickly followed behind her. As Twilight approached the pony she started to introduce herself. "Good afternoon, my name is Twilight Sparkle." The earth pony instantly turned and grabbed hold of Twilights hoof. She started rapidly shaking hoofs with her as she introduced herself. "Well howdy-do miss Twilight, a pleasure makin' your acquaintance. I'm Applejack. We here at Sweet Apple Acres sure do like makin' new friends." "Friends? Actually I..." Twilights voice was shaking because of the rapid hoof shaking. "So, what can I do ya for?" Applejack asked as she pulled away from the hoof shake, both of her hooves landed back down on the ground. Twilights hoof continued to rapidly shake despite the earth pony letting go. Spike grabbed her leg with his claws to stop her hoof from shaking. Twilight set her hoof back down on the ground and look at Spike annoyed as he giggled to himself.

"Ahem." Twilight cleared her throat. "Well, I am in fact here to supervise preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration, and you're in charge of the food?" She asked. "We sure as sugar are. Would you care to sample some?" "As long as it doesn't take too long." Twilight responded as Applejack had already darted off to ring a triangle instrument. She rang the instrument loudly then she yelled, "soups on every pony!!" A heard of earth ponies ran straight towards Twilight and Spike. They ran through causing Twilight and Spike to be pushed forcefully to a table to taste test the food. Applejack suddenly rose up next to Spike at the table. "Now, why don't I introduce y'all to the Apple family?" Applejack smiled while motioning towards the group of earth ponies that were now surrounding them in all different directions. "Thanks but I really need to hurry—" Before Twilight could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Applejack who started to introduce the Apple family.

"This here's Apple Fritter, Apple Bumpkin, Red Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Caramel Apple, Apple Strudel, Apple Tart, Baked Apples, Apple Brioche, Apple Cinnamon Crisp." She takes a deep breath in before continuing. "Big McIntosh, Apple Bloom, and..." Applejack shoves a green apple into Twilights mouth making her eat it. "Granny Smith. Up'n'attem Granny Smith, we got guests." An old earth pony was sitting on a rocking chair, rocking back and forth. After hearing Applejack say her name, she woke up a bit confused. "Wha? Soups up? I'm up. Here I come, ahm comin" The old pony stood up and weakly walked over to where the ponies were all standing.

Applejack put her front hoof around Twilights shoulders, as Twilight was still chewing the apple. "Why, I'd say, you're already part of the family." Applejack said with a smile. Twilight immediately spit out the apple that she still had not finished chewing then Applejack took her hoof away from the unicorn. Twilight laughed nervously before saying, "okay, well, I can see the food situation is handled, so we'll be on our way." "Aren't you gonna stay for brunch?" Twilight looked down to see a very young filly with sad eyes, begging her to stay for brunch. "Sorry, but we have an awful lot to do." Twilight responded calmly. "Aww..." The Apple family around her said in unison as they all became sad. Twilight looked at all of their sad expressions, they were making her feel guilty about leaving. She eventually gave in, "fine." The Apple family all cheered around her happily that she was going to stay for brunch.

Sometime later after brunch, Twilight and Spike had left Sweet Apple Acres and were making their way down Ponyville. "Food's all taken care of. Next is weather." Spike said while holding his scroll checklist as he walked next to Twilight. The purple unicorn groaned as she walked forward. "I ate too much pie." She said as she lowered her head. Spike looked around up at the sky, "hmm, there's supposed to be a pegasus pony named Rainbow Dash clearing the clouds." Twilight looked up at the sky and she noticed that there were still plenty of clouds up in the sky. "Well, she's not doing a very good job, is she?"

Suddenly a blur of rainbow crashed directly into Twilight, causing her to fall in a pool of mud face first. The thing that crashed into her turned out to be a pony. She was a pegasus with a light blue coat and a rainbow mane and tail. Her eyes were a dark pink color, and her cutie mark resembled a lightning bolt with a cloud sitting at the top of the bolt. The pony had somehow landed on top of Twilight, and they were both completely covered in mud.

The rainbow pony nervously laughed as she stood up and looked at Twilight. "Uh... 'scuse me?" She chuckled again then she spread her wings and flew up into the air. The pegasus hovered over Twilight as she looked down at the pony who was completely covered in mud. "Let me help you." The pegasus who was also covered in mud quickly flew away. Twilight sat down as she waited for the other pony to fix her mess. The rainbow pony came back while holding a cloud, she was also no longer covered in mud from her flying so fast. She placed the cloud above Twilight in the air then she landed on the cloud and started bouncing up and down on it. The cloud rained a large amount of water down on the unicorn below. The pegasus looked down at Twilight who was no longer covered in mud, but instead, she was soaking wet. The unicorn was clearly unhappy with the pegasus.

"Oops, I guess I overdid it. Um, uh, how about this?" The pegasus quickly flew in circles around Twilight, causing what looked like a rainbow tornado to swirl around her. "My very own patented rain-blow dry." The rainbow pony had finished then she hovered over Twilight again. "No no, don't thank me, you're quite welcome." The pegasus pony landed down on the ground in front of Twilight. She looked at the unicorn to see that her hair was completely messed up from the rain-blow dry. It was all knotted up and looked like a very poor replica of clown hair. The rainbow pony and Spike both started laughing then they fell to the floor from laughing so hard. Spike ended up falling on the pony's back while laughing.

"Let me guess, you're Rainbow Dash." Twilight said stating the obvious. "The one and only." The rainbow pony replied as she stood up causing Spike to fall off her back. "Why, you heard of me?" Rainbow Dash flew in the air over to Twilight. "I heard you're supposed to be keeping the sky cleared." Twilight sighed before continuing. "I'm Twilight Sparkle, and the Princess sent me to check on the weather." Rainbow Dash was now lying on the cloud that she had previously used to drench Twilight in water. "Yeah yeah, that'll be a snap. I'll do it in a jiffy, just as soon as I'm done practicing." Rainbow Dash said as her back was turned to Twilight. "Practicing? For what?" She asked the pegasus. "The Wonderbolts!" Rainbow Dash pointed over to a poster that showed seven pegasus ponies on it in a particular type of outfit.

"They're gonna perform at the celebration tomorrow, and I'm gonna show 'em my stuff." Rainbow Dash said as she flew off the cloud and did a flip in the air. "The Wonderbolts?" Twilight questioned as the pegasus landed back down on the cloud. "Yep." "The most talented flyers in all of Equestria?" She continued to question. "That's them." The pegasus responded. "Pfft, please. They'd never accept a pegasus who can't even keep the sky clear for one measly day." "Hey, I could clear this sky in ten seconds flat." "Prove it." Twilight challenged Rainbow Dash's skills.

Rainbow Dash acted fast to prove that she could do it, although deep inside she was nervous about getting it done in ten seconds. Rainbow Dash flew as fast as she could around the sky. She turned and bucked her feet into the air at the clouds to make them vanish into nothing. With the other clouds she flew right through them to make them vanish. As a finishing touch, the pegasus pony did a loop in the sky to fly through the remaining clouds, while also showing off her skills at the same time. "Loop-de-loop around and wham!" Rainbow Dash finished clearing the sky then she landed on the bridge that was in front of Twilight and Spike.

"What'd I say? Ten, seconds, flat. I'd never leave Ponyville hanging." Rainbow Dash bragged a bit over her skills. Meanwhile Twilight and Spike were still looking up at the sky completely shocked at the accomplishment that Rainbow Dash had completed. "Haha, you should see the look on your face." Rainbow Dash said then Spike looked up at Twilight to see her shocked facial expression. The pegasus pony flew behind Twilight as she spoke, "ha! You're a laugh Twilight Sparkle. I can't wait to hand out some more." Rainbow Dash stopped in the air next to Twilight as she smiled down at the still shocked unicorn.

Rainbow Dash left them quickly by doing another loop in the air before dashing off leaving them alone. "Wow!" Spike exclaimed as he watched the talented pony fly away. "She's amazing!" Spike pointed to where Rainbow Dash had flown off to. Twilight just looked at Spike not knowing what to say. The small dragon touched the end of Twilights still messed up mane and he bounced it up and down as he giggled. Twilight Sparkle ignored him then she walked past him and started to head off to their next destination in Ponyville to continue to check on the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration.

"Wait! It's kinda pretty once you get used to it!" Spike said as he ran after her to catch up. There was no point in Twilight arguing with him, she couldn't fix her mane until she got back home anyways. Well, the home that she will be staying at during her visit in Ponyville.

They both continued their walk as they approached a large building that stood in the center of Ponyville, the town hall.
