Tempted
Pinkie just sat there, staring the stands full of holiday cakes. She tried to look away, but she couldn't. Her eyes were glued to the creamy squares of perfection.
"Creamy... creamy frosting." Pinkie muttered, drooling a little.
A minute passed, then five, then ten.
Pinkie was faced away from the sight of the cakes, but her eyes just wandered back to them. She started to sweat, thoughts racing through her brain.
It's not going to hurt taking one bite, right?
Yes, it will!
The Cakes won't notice if only one holiday cake is gone, there's tons of them!
But then I'm going to have to deal with the guilt for eating it!
Pinkie's conscience was battling inside her brain, confusing her with every thought that entered it. She started sweating nervously, gritting her teeth to retain herself from grabbing a cake and swallowing it in one gulp. Her eyes were shut tight, preventing her from even looking at the cakes. Occasionally, one eye would open and take a peek at the cakes, but then it would take all her will-power to close it again.
Her light pink hooves were shaking in nervousness. The lights seemed to dim and the walls looked as if they were closing in on her. She started breathing deeply, but rapidly. Dramatic music started to play...
"Wait, dramatic music?!" shouted Pinkie.
Um... back to the story.
Pinkie had reached her climax, the temptation was too hard to resist. She was scooting ever so close to the cake stands, her eyes just scanning over the delicious cherry-filled delicacy.
She was so close, yet so far. She could taste the cake on her tongue, yet at the same time, she couldn't. The pain of just looking at it was just killing her. She had to eat it, she just had to.
She wanted to take one of those mouth-watering cakes and stuff it in her mouth.
Her eyes scattered all around the room to make sure nopony was looking.
All clear? Good.
She let her efforts to keep her self-control get the best of her,
and she gave in.
She slowly reached for one of the cakes. Her mouth started to water all over again.
It can't hurt to just take a bite, right? she thought to herself.
She carefully took the cake off the plate with her hoof, and started to put it up to her mouth, but then she hesitated. She opened opened her mouth and almost bit the cake, but then closed her mouth and hesitated once again. The heat bubbling inside her began to rise.
"Oh for pony's sake!" she yelled, stuffing the entire cake into her mouth.
She started chewing the cake fast, slowing down the process every second she chewed to savor the taste.
The cake tasted heavenly.
The ivory eggnog frosting went perfectly with the hint of cinnamon, along with the cherry filling swirling into the taste, which gave a great compliment to the flavor of the red velvet cake.
Pinkie's eyes shut slowly, with her murmuring,"Mmm..." in response to how delicious it was. She popped a few gumdrops into her mouth to add an even sweeter sensation. Her cheeks were filled up like a chipmunk's mouth filled with nuts. Pinkie finally swallowed the tasty delicacy, only for her to crave more of it.
Licking her lips eagerly, she approached the stands and stands filled with the cakes. She suddenly stopped dead in her tracks.
I already had one, and that's bending the rules enough.
She turned away from the table that held the delicious, sweet, savory...
"Oh forget it!" she yelled, galloping to the cakes.
She stuffed another into her mouth, and another, and another. After a few minutes, Pinkie's belly was full, almost as if it was inflated with air. There were half-eaten gumdrops, and a mess of red velvet cake crumbs littering the floor and the white laced tablecloth.
"Ahh... That's a good way to start a holiday." Pinkie said to herself, patting her belly in satisfaction.
She got up and quickly ran her eyes through what she had just done. Pinkie suddenly felt as if her heart weighed a hundred tons. She started to sweat, not in just nervousness, but also pure guilt.
Oh no! What did I just do? I ate every single one! Mr. and Mrs. Cake will never trust me with anything again!
Pinkie started to think about just making more batches of the holiday cakes.
I could just make more...
Her eyes slowly moved to the "Recipe Cabinet", where Mr. and Mrs. Cake keep all their recipes for everything they've ever made. She just let out a sigh of relief and rushed to the filing cabinet. She tugged on the handle, but it didn't budge.
Shoot! It's locked!
Her ice blue iris' frantically searched for a key, and fortunately, she saw something glisten under a pink handkerchief on top of the filing cabinet. She peeked under it to find a silver key. Clenching her hoof for luck, she inserted the key into the lock, and turned it. Thankfully, the key clicked and one of the cabinets drawers rolled out.
With another sigh of relief, she rolled her hoof through all the recipe files.
"D... E... F... G... H!" she exclaimed, pulling out the H folder.
She dumped all the recipe papers onto the already messy floor and checked them one by one.
"Heavenly Sundae... no... Hot Fudge... Heart Chocolates... Aha! Holiday Mini-Cake Delight!" she exclaimed in triumph.
She picked up the rest of the recipes and put them back in the H folder, keeping the Holiday Cake recipe with her. She set it down on the table and skimmed through it until she she got to the preparation time.
"Preparation time... is thirty minutes for each dozen cakes that you make?!" Pinkie squealed.
That only gives me time to make thirty six cakes, and there were hundreds of them! she thought.
"I'm dead meat." Pinkie muttered to herself.
I guess I could always hide what I did... Just clean up the mess.
But before she could trot all the way to the cleaning supplies, the front door opened, shining sunlight on Pinkie, making her stop dead in her trot.
A familiar lavender unicorn with an indigo blue mane was standing at the front door with a wide smile on her face.
"Hi Pinkie! I just wanted to check on how the-" Twilight Sparkle stopped dead in her sentence, her eyes growing big at the mess in front of her.
"What happened, Pinkie?! This place is a mess! SugarCube Corner needs serious work if it's going to be party-ready in an hour." Twilight shrieked.
"I, um..." Pinkie started, only to be interrupted by Twilight.
"And where are the cakes?" Twilight asked, her violet eyes looking into Pinkie's icy blue ones.
Twilight eyed down Pinkie's frosting-covered face and put on a look of horror.
"Oh no, Pinkie! You didn't..." started Twilight.
"I may have sort of ate one of the cakes, and then I might have gotten a little to carried away and... ate all of the cakes." Pinkie squeaked, trying to smile innocently.
"Pinkie Pie! Ugh, well we need to get this mess cleaned up first, and how long does it take to make one batch of holiday cakes?" Twilight asked, formulating a plan.
"Not including frosting, thirty minutes per dozen." Pinkie informed her.
"Okay, so if we did two separate batches with the time we have, we would make seventy two in total. That's not enough for everypony." Twilight murmured to herself.
"So, what should we do?" Pinkie asked, cluelessly.
"Hmm, well, I'll finish the decorations and clean up quickly with magic. You gather all the ingredients for the cake and the frosting. We need to do this before we get-" Twilight got cut off by the a bell chime and the sound of an opening door. Pinkie and Twilight turned towards the door to see who had seen them.
"-Caught." she squeaked.
