Thinking about Julia Belle (pt. 1)
Age: 15
Word count: 1810
Summary: Lately, all Alena could think about was Julia Belle. A girl she got to know at her vocal coaching. Naturally she's really confused about her feelings but too afraid to really talk about it yet.
Julia Belle. The tan, tall girl with the most dreamy brown eyes and flowy, almost unnaturally beautiful dark curls, who had been playing the piano for Alena while she sang for the past few months.
Every time the 17 year old girl smiled at something she did, all Alena wanted to do was to melt. Maybe it was the mere appreciation and reassurance those glances gave her, that made her want to stare at Julia forever or maybe she just idolised her.
No, none of that truly described her feelings for the pretty girl perfectly.
If Alena was completely honest, she was frustrated with herself over the matter. She'd never ever found herself behaving like that for anyone before, so all this was pure confusion mixed with a hint of wanting to throw up every time she found herself swooning.
Truth was, she was thinking about Julia all the time. While drawing, while at school, even while trying to fall asleep at night. The one thing, more specifically, the one person who circled in her mind over and over was Julia Belle.
So, one afternoon, when Alena was drawing one of her portraits per usual while mumbling along to Taylor Swift's 'How you get the girl (Taylors Version)', she happened to think about her new 'friend'.
Natasha had picked up on her daughter's recent behaviour, especially how she looked at this Julia girl. She found it sweet but yet also very amusing on how flustered her little light got around this girl.
But, for some reason, Alena hadn't seen a reason to talk about it to her, so, out of curiosity, and maybe because her overprotective nature wouldn't allow it any other way, Nat decided to grill her daughter a little bit.
The redheaded woman slipped into her 15 year olds room, closing the door behind her. She approached Alena, who was completely lost in her own thoughts and way too deep down into her zone and therefore didn't notice her.
Natasha decided to look over her shoulder, just to see who she was drawing this time around. The redhead had to look twice to actually recognise the young woman, who by this time was still missing most of her hair and the colour in her lips. Still, it was evident who this was supposed to represent.
,,Darling girl, who's that?"
She still decided to ask, simply to respect her daughter's boundaries and personal space. What she didn't expect was Alena slamming her notebook shut in a speed that you had to had to pay close attention, though.
The 15 year old turned to her Mom, slightly embarrassed. She'd never had feelings this intense before, nor talked to anyone about it. Not Peter, not MJ, not Yelena. Literally no one knew how she felt about Julia Belle.
,,No one"
Alena responded, avoiding her mothers gaze like the plaque. She knew that if she caught her glance it'd be game over.
Natasha crossed her arms and let out a soft sigh, a small smirk tugging at her lips. She found it quite amusing how the whole world around her precious girl knew how she felt for that certain person. It was pretty obvious after all.
There'd been a clear change in the way Alena acted, specifically when she was about to go off to vocal coaching. That was the times she got the most giggly, most 'unlike' herself and most defensive about said behaviour. It was clear to everyone but her that she was head over heels in love with someone.
,,Well, she might not be 'no one' "
Alena finally admitted, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Next thing Natasha knew, her daughter lay next to her on the bed, hands covering her face.
The woman let herself fall back onto her daughters bed, studying her face for some sort indication for her feelings. To her surprise, the usually emotionally closed off girl made it easy for her to read her.
,,So, who's she?"
Natasha finally asked softly while stroking a strand of her daughter's hair from her eyes. Behind her curiosity was a hint of wanting to make sure this girl was treating her baby light right.
Alena let out a sigh, ran her hands over her face before locking eyes with her mother once more. It was in that moment that she realised she hadnt ever really came out to anyone. She'd just assumed everyone knew and therefore hadn't been hiding it exactly.
,,Mama"
,,Hmm"
,,I like girls"
Natasha's lips broke into a smile. Truth was, she'd known for a while, simply by observing the way her daughter looked at actresses in movies or simply women on the street. She'd just never addressed it because it wasn't a big deal to her. Tasha didn't care who her daughter loved, as long as she was happy:
,,I know, детка свет (baby light)"
Alena's brows furrowed in confusion. Was it really that obvious? But then again, her mom was a spy, she knew what to look for in people, she knew how to read people.
The young redhead exhaled in relief, the hardest part was out of the way. Now she just had to actually find the words to describe Julia and her feelings for the 17 year old.
,,Her name is Julia Belle. I know her from vocal coaching, she's ... been playing the piano for me for the last few months"
Alena explained, her voice displaying admiration for the girl she'd been drawing mere minutes ago. Her face told everything Natasha needed to know about this mysterious Julia Belle.
,,Расскажи мне о ней (Tell me about her)"
The older redhead encouraged, a soft smile playing on her lips. She was nothing but happy for her daughter. The way Alena's eyes lit up when she talked about Julia, the way she smiled fondly and the way she got excited whenever she was about to go see her was absolutely precious.
And as if on cue, there it was. The fond smile that appeared on the 15 year olds face as she started thinking about her.
,,She ... she's the most beautiful girl in the world. Inside and out. God, the way she smiles at people as if they're the purest form of life on this earth, no matter how many flaws they have. Julia always manages to find the best in people and I love that. Wish I had that sort of positivity"
Alena started thinking about the girl, her heart pounding against her chest with such force that she thought it might as well leap out of her chest. The more she thought about it, the more she realised how in love she was, but for some reason ... it felt weird.
,,She sounds lovely, маленький свет (little light)"
Natasha agreed in a soft tone. Now the only step left was hoping Alena was ready to make the next move.
,,How do you feel about her?"
,,Dunno. Weird, tingly, like there's a million butterflies in my stomach that won't let me sleep at night? It's exhausting to pretend she's nothing to me, Mama"
Alena sighed, facing away from her mom and up at the ceiling. She ran her hands over her face once more, but this time, they remained there.
,,You wanna hear something?"
Natasha asked, sitting up now. Seeing her baby girl like this was both incredibly beautiful but at the same time really heartbreaking. Knowing that Alena wasn't a little girl anymore pinched a little in Nat's heart.
Said girl sat up as well, looking at her mother inquiringly. Her lips were curled into a frown, fitting right into the overall torn expression.
,,Could it be that you're just a tiny bit in love with her?"
The older of the two asked, making a hand gesture to further emphasise her question. What followed up surprised her, but awakened great nostalgia at the same time.
,,Love is for children, Mama"
Alena scoffed, before she got up from the bed and pretended to organise some stuff at her desk. Truth was, she felt vulnerable with this new kind of feeling and although she didn't want to admit it, this was her greatest weakness.
Natasha's mouth dropped open for a split second before composing herself again. She couldn't help but blame herself for that kind of attitude, as that's what's been taught to her ever since she was little.
,,That's ... That's not true, little light. Дорогая девочка (Darling girl), look at me"
She asked of her daughter, who obeyed reluctantly. When Alena did, Tasha found that her kid had tears in her eyes.
,,What if she doesn't feel the same? What am I gonna do then, Mama? I care about her, so so much and it's grossing me out about myself. I get all giggly and simp-y and act like a complete fool"
Alena complained, inhaling sharply. Her breath was shaky and her eyes flickered. Natasha could tell she was more than overwhelmed.
,,Милая девушка (Sweet girl), you have a crush and that's nothing to be ashamed of. Love may be for children, but I'll tell you what, be a child. You're 15, моя любовь (my love), you're allowed to love"
The woman assured as she got up from her daughter's bed and embraced her tightly. God, her little girl did grow up too fast.
,,Go get her, darling girl"
Natasha smiled, stroking a strand of hair from Alena's eyes. She could watch how her daughter's expression changed from complete and utter insecurity to a more self assured, cheerful facade.
,,Thanks Mama"
The redheaded girl exhaled softly. For some reason, she felt better, like a lot better. Alena felt more comfortable with the idea of being in love and if she was honest, there was nothing holding her back from asking out Julia Belle.
...
With a deep intake of breath, Alena entered the room where she knew Julia was waiting for her. She could feel her heart pounding in her head, that's how nervous she was.
,,Hey Julia"
,,Hey"
A/N: Will Alena ask out her crush? Will there be complications? Do I intend to make this a four part series? Who knows. Anyways, I know you haven't met Julia Belle yet but I'm excited to hear what you guys think about Alena's description and more importantly, her feelings for her.
I have to admit, I didn't come up with the idea all on my own, herospark_518 brought it up a few days back sooo, i thought, why not write it? :))
Anyways, have a great day/night, stay amazing and I'll see you around, my beautiful people <33
