Ice skating
Age: 10
Word count: 1134
Summary: Alena goes ice skating for the first time with her Mom, who can't skate and her dad, who's basically a pro
,,Okay, skates, band aids, ibuprofen and an extra jacket. I think we've got everything"
Natasha listed, pointing at the things in the back of their car.
Steve nodded in approval, but frowned for a moment.
,,We forgot something"
He informed, sending his wife into rambling down her list.
The couple looked at one another for a minute, before they realised what they had forgotten.
,,Alena"
They announced in unison, before Natasha ran back inside to fetch their ten year old daughter.
,,Алейна, пошевеливайся, мы выходим (Alena, get a move on, we're going out)"
The older redhead informed the younger one, who was already putting on her shoes.
,,Куда мы идем? (Where are we going?)"
The ten year old inquired curiously.
,,You'll see"
Her mom responded, standing in the door to keep it from closing.
The young redhead frowned rather irritatedly but went along with her mother to the car.
Just 20 minutes later, the family of three arrived at the ice rink.
Alena had now picked up on where they were going and got very excited.
She always wanted to go, but as of now, neither her parents were able to fulfil that wish.
The little redhead was sprinting towards the rink, at least she was trying to.
Steve held her hand firmly, preventing her from bolting.
,,Easy, свет (light)"
Natasha stressed, though she found her daughters excitement absolutely heart warming.
She never had things like that, growing up, except for the time with her sister and parents, so being able to give her daughter all she ever wanted was just incredible.
,,Mama, can you skate?"
Alena inquired hopefully. The little girl had no idea how hard ice skating actually was, so she just assumed she was a pro already.
Natasha could, in fact, not skate. She really hoped it came naturally to her, like ballet, but of course, she knew better than to make wild guesses.
,,No, маленький свет (little light), I can't. But your dad is a pro"
She admitted, glancing at her husband with a smile.
Alenas eyes met her fathers, full of admiration.
,,Daddy, you know how to skate?"
She asked, adoration written all over her face.
,,Sure do, little light"
He smiled and pulled her up so that he was rested on his hip.
Alena let out a long sigh of admiration for her dad.
,,You ready?"
Natasha asked her daughter as they entered the rink.
The little redhead nodded wildly and squirmed in her dad's arms.
Steve let her down to the floor, allowing her to jump around for the time being.
His wife went to pay for their tickets and skates for her and Alena.
Five minutes later, Natasha waved them over to go in.
Alena grabbed both her parents hands and swung in the middle.
Excitement radiated off of the 10 year old redhead and she was barely able to sit still while her dad tied her skates tight enough.
,,Be careful when you get up. Skates aren't like normal shoes"
He warned when he was done, remembering his first time skating. (He face planted in a 90° angle once he got up)
Alena nodded as she made an attempt to get up.
Luckily, she had a great sense of balance, making it easy for her to find out the right way to stand quickly.
,,Mama, are you ready?"
She inquired impatiently while she got familiar with the feeling by pacing in front of her mom.
,,Go ahead, свет, I'm right behind you"
Natasha smiled, still struggling with her own skates.
The little redhead didn't need to be told twice.
She staggered away, careful not to fall with both arms outstretched to the side.
Alena was naturally athletic, meaning she enjoyed everything active.
From a young age, she begged to get training to become a real avenger, just like her parents and practically forced her mom to enroll her in judo classes.
Still, this was something entirely new to her, meaning she still had to decide I'd she liked it or not.
,,Okay, now ve careful okay. The ice is really slippery"
Steve warned, just behind his daughter, ready to catch her if she fell.
But Alena didn't fall. She just placed one foot in front of the other, quickly getting the hang of it.
,,Daddy look, I'm a pro-"
She exclaimed proudly, just before promptly landing on her bum.
Steve couldn't help but burst into laughter as he quickly skated over to help her up.
,,You alright?"
He asked, gently wiping off the snow off his daughters clothes.
,,Yea"
Alena replied with a locked jaw. She was unable to understand why she didn't immediately got the jist of it.
,,Okay, just, cmon let's get over there and get Mama, Okay?"
Steve suggested as he saw the expression on his ten year olds face.
The little redhead nodded fiercely, holding on tight to her dad's hands.
,,Honey, you alright?"
The supersoldier called out to his wife, who, similar to their daughter, tried skating with a locked jaw and deep concentration written on her face.
Natasha looked up, leading to loosing focus and falling forward into her husbands arms.
Alena had gone off trying to teach herself again, leaving her parents alone for a bit.
(A/N: More Romanogers of this oneshot over at my romanogers oneshot book soon :))
The couple skated for a bit, Steve teaching Nat so that she was now able to skate on her own without having to hold on to the railing.
,,Mama, Daddy, look what I can do"
Alenas voice called out, beaming from ear to ear as she came speeding towards them.
Just one meter in front of them, she slowed down sharply, creating a whole lot of snow as she did.
Natasha looked at her daughter proudly as she went off with her husband again.
It was moments like these that she fully appreciated what she had. A family.
She watched as her daughters long, auburn curls played in the wind created by the speed she had while skating and her proud husband, watching their little girl with the brightest glow in his eyes.
A smile found itself to her face as she affectionately watched the two people who made her the happiest.
A/N: In honor of me going ice skating (and failing miserably) a while back, here's a oneshot based on that for you, just that Alena is a lot more skilled than I am. (I'm more like Nat in this one, desperately clinging to the railing :))
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this one, and have a great day/night. Stay amazing and I'll see you around, beautiful people <3
