Chapter 77: Go My Own Way

•1 Month Later, 2 p.m.; Maddie's Bedroom•

~Maddie's POV~

"That's the last of the stuff" I mumbled to myself as I zipped up my black leather suitcase.

This is it. I'm leaving. I moving to LA and living in a sick apartment with my curly haired stubborn best friend Ally.

Getting up from my bedroom floor and pulling up my third suitcase, I glanced  around the empty bedroom; a feeling of déjà vu drifting back into my mind.

I'd always wanted to move out, but now that I am, I feel empty, unsatisfied even.

Is this what I really want?

"Mads, you ready?" Lachlan asked, placing a hand on my shoulder as he came up behind me.

Lachlan had been living with Preston and Rob in Texas but immediately flew down to come and help with packing my equipment and other furniture.

He's the best honestly. He's been so supportive of all this moving. I'm so grateful for him.

Everything had been shipped to LA already so now all Ally and I had to bring was the rest of our clothes and other beauty supplies.

"Yes" I sighed, turning around to face him.

"I'm so proud of you. You're moving to into your own apartment. That's something I can only dream of doing. You should be excited" Lachlan encouraged, flashing me a proud smile.

"I don't feel excited. I feel so empty" I confessed.

"You'll feel much better once you are out of here. All this intense emotional stuff is probably getting to you. Mitch looks like someone just ran over his dog with a car right in front of him" Lachlan chuckled, helping me with my suitcases as he made his way down the hall.

I closed the bedroom door for the last time before dragging my suitcase after him.

We made our way downstairs, towards the front door where Mitch was waiting for us.

I had already said my goodbyes to Jerome who wished me luck on the new chapter in my life but now, I had to prepare myself for the long literature from Mitch.

"You have everything packed?" Mitch asked as we approached him.

"Yeah," I spoke up, "everything is ready to go."

Mitch pulled me into a tight hug, nuzzling his face in my hair and I wrapped my slim arms around his torso.

"I can't believe you're leaving me," Mitch pouted as he pulled away, "how you feeling?"

"Scared to be honest" I admitted.

"I felt the same way when I was leaving but don't worry, the feeling will vanish once you see the place" Mitch advised.

"I'm going to miss you" I frowned, my eyes starting to get watery.

"I'll miss you too. You can visit whenever you want and if you need any help, just call me" Mitch offered.

"The uber is here" Lachlan spoke up.

"Okay. Take care of yourself and Lachlan," he looked over to the blonde who watched the farewell patiently,"don't get her pregnant. I will murder you."

Lachlan and I let out laugh.

"If anything we'll buy condoms" Lachlan reassured, patting Mitch on the shoulder.

Mitch shot him a warning glance before closing his eyes and letting out a sigh.

"Get out of my house" Mitch snapped, opening the door for us to leave.

"Bye Mitchell Donnell-Ralph
Hughes" I laughed, dragging my suitcase out the front door; towards the uber waiting at the bottom of the driveway.

Goodbye Florida, hello LA.

•After 5 Hour Flight, 4 p.m.; Ally and Maddie's Apartment Building•

"I'm so excited! My first apartment with my best friend, her boyfriend and my boyfriend!" Ally cried excitedly as we all dragged our luggage down the classy white hallway leading to Ally's and I's new apartment.

"Lachlan and I aren't living here" Vikk reminded.

"Yeah you are, for a 2 weeks" Ally pointed out.

"I wish it was longer. This place looks amazing" Lachlan gushed, looking at the series of colourful and creative paintings lining the walls of the hallway.

Lachlan was right. The building was very nice and well taken care for. The people in the lobby downstairs were very polite and welcoming, including residents that didn't even know us.

The building was very modern styled and high tech. Downstairs had a large swimming pool, a library, a laundry room even though our apartment had a washer and a dryer in the bathroom which I remember from the pictures online and lastly, a gym which neither Ally and I planned on using since we are both super lazy and unfit.

"Maybe Vikk and I should get a apartment next door" Lachlan joked as Ally, who lead the way, stopped in front of a red painted wood door; a small peephole at the top.

"709" Ally breathed, reading the shiny gold label.

I had chosen what floor we would live on. 7 is my lucky number. Plus, I'm not a fan of heights so the last floor, 14, would not be my favourite place to live.

"This is it. I'm about to open the door for the first time" Ally narrated dramatically as she slowly took the keys out of her pocket.

"Ally, you're so dramatic. Just open the fucking door!" Vikk complained, trying to grab the key away from her.

Ally ripped the key away from his reach. "Let me cherish this moment."

I pushed Ally to a side before inserting my key in the lock, twisting it to the left and hearing the door unlock; flying the door open to reveal a blank white wall.

"Wow, that was anticlimactic" Lachlan chuckled.

We all gathered into the small hallway, a doorway ahead of us and a mysterious door behind us.

Lachlan closed the door behind us as we all walked down the hall towards the natural sunlight lit living room.

"Holy fuck! This place looks even better up close than in real life!" Ally chirped, looking around the area.

The place looked really amazing. There was no carpet like I was used to but wooden flooring and white walls were really chic.

"What's with this ladder?" Lachlan asked, shaking the thin white ladder leading up to a hanger.

"That's where Ally and I will have our office" I explained as Lachlan started to climb up.

"This is so cool! I can see everything from here" Lachlan yelled, his voice echoing off the walls.

"Including the shit load of boxes that need to be unpacked" Vikk groaned.

We all looked at the cardboard boxes that were spread all over the living room; some even leaking into the kitchen.

"Well, the movers definitely didn't seem to forget anything" Ally declared, trying to make the situation seem better.

"Should we start unpacking?" I asked.

Lachlan let out a small yawn as he climbed down the ladder; wrapping his arms over my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder. "Nah, I'm tried."

"Same here" Vikk added.

"Come on guys! The day is still young! It's only 4!" Ally encouraged, still full of energy.

She must have had a lot of coffee today.

"I agree with the guys Ally. We should get some rest" I agreed.

"Buzzkills" Ally mumbled.

"Did you guys ship blankets over so we can lay them on the floor?" Lachlan asked looking at Ally and I.

"Duh. I have all my pillows and blankets in a box around here somewhere. Look around" Ally ordered.

We all started reading and pushing boxes to a side; trying our best to put boxes in the place they were needed to be unpacked.

"Found it!" Lachlan yelled from the kitchen.

We all rushed over to him; gathering around the box labeled, "Ally's Bedroom Crap."

"JJ helped me pack this box" Ally clarified, referring to the sarcastic titling.

"Typical JJ" Vikk smiled, rolling his eyes.

Using one of the two keys to the apartment, Vikk slit open the box; pulling out Ally's fluffy blankets and soft pillows.

Once the pillows and blankets were distributed, Lachlan quickly claimed the hanger.

"Lachlan, who said I didn't want to sleep in the hanger?" Vikk objected.

"It's not my problem that you're too slow. You should have claimed it first" Lachlan protested, spreading out out blankets.

"Let them have it Vikk. Madlan need their privacy. Especially after their fallout" Ally teased.

I flipped her off as she and Vikk burst into a fit of laughter.

"Try to keep the noise down, Ally and I will be sleeping in the room just a few meters away from your make-up session" Vikk reminded.

The obnoxious couple burst into laughter again.

"Fuck off" Lachlan swore.
