~Maddie's POV~
I was currently scrolling through available apartments in Los Angeles.
I'd never thought about it until now but, what if I moved to LA and got a cool apartment there?
I mean, I'd been doing amazingly well on YouTube lately and I have enough money to do so.
I realize I haven't done much since I moved to Florida. I'd only really traveled a lot.
I know it's stereotypical YouTube thing to move to LA but everything there is just so much better looking and fun.
Maybe I can invite Ally to live with me. That would be lit. And Lachlan could visit anytime he wanted without having to check in with Mitch first. Vikk could also visit and then we would all be a squad.
Breaking my train of thought, there was a loud bang of a fist on my open bedroom door.
I spun around swiftly in my chair to face the doorway where I could see Lachlan with his headset hanging loosely around his neck.
"Get dressed into something fancy. We're going out" Lachlan ordered.
"We as in Mitch, Jerome, Ryan, you and I?" I asked curiously.
"No, we as in you and I" he corrected, flashing me a flirtatious smile.
My mouth broke out into a wide grin. "I like the sound of that. Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise. Just get ready" Lachlan declared as he left my bedroom and made his way back towards his room.
"But Lachy! How can I know what to wear if I don't know where we're going?" I cried.
"Just wear a nice dress!" Lachlan yelled back.
I let out a frustrated sigh.
That really doesn't help me here Lachlan.
Getting up from my chair, I made my way over to my closet; listing in my mind all the possible options I could wear.
•Few Minutes Later•
After ripping my closet apart for the perfect outfit, I finally settled on a simple black dress and matching black heels.
I applied my regular amount of makeup, combed out my hair and letting it fall down onto my back.
"Maddie!" I heard Lachlan yell.
"Yes?" I yelled back as I poked my dangly black earrings through the small hole in my ear.
"You ready to leave?" he asked; his voice sounding closer as he entered my bedroom.
I stepped out of the bathroom; my head titled to a side as I tried to put in my second earring.
"Yes, I am" I answered.
Lachlan was dressed in a casual pair of navy blue jeans and a crisp pale blue button down.
"You look stunning" Lachlan smiled.
I could feel a slight blush grow on my nose. "Thank you. You look as handsome as usual."
"Thanks. We should get heading. Don't want to be late for the surprise" Lachlan smiled, twirling Mitch's car keys around his finger.
•After Car Drive•
Lachlan grabbed my hand as we walked towards the expensive looking steakhouse.
"I'm surprised you didn't just take me to Chipotle" I giggled.
"I can be a very classy guy Maddie" Lachlan boasted.
"Classy but not very romantic" I teased causing him to gasp.
"I'm kidding. You're romantic enough" I reassured him as he opened the door for me.
We stepped into a large waiting area. The floors and the ceiling both made out of marble with black leather seats lining the walls.
We walked up to the front desk where a pale blond, green eyed waiter greeted us with a kind smile.
"I have a reservation under the last name of Power" Lachlan spoke professionally.
The waiter searched throughout his desktop before turning back to us. "Right this way."
We followed after the waiter as he lead us to a table set for two near the far corner or the restaurant; distant from most of the loud chatter, couples and business men.
"A waiter will be ready to take your orders as soon as possible" the waiter clarified before hurrying back to the front desk.
"What do you think?" Lachlan asked curiously.
"It's really nice. Thank you for taking me here" I thanked sincerely.
Picking to make this relationship work again was probably the best decision of made in a while.
"I just wanted to make it up to you. I'd been a complete dick cheating on you and since I'm leaving early tomorrow morning, I thought this was the perfect way to end all this drama on a good note" Lachlan explained, squeezing both of my hands gently.
I flashed him a smile. "I'm glad we can just put this in the past."
•A Hour And A Half Later•
"Lachy, have you ever thought about moving out of your parents house and getting your own place?" I asked as I dug my fork into the moist triple fudge chocolate cake that sat in the middle of the our table.
Our somewhat romantic dinner was coming to a end. We had an appetizer, our main course and now we were sharing a dessert.
"Yeah, of course. But it's always just been a small thought," Lachlan shrugged as he chewed on the cake, "where did this come from?"
"I was just thinking about how it would be so much fun to have my own apartment in LA" I confessed.
"Yeah, that would be so cool Mads. But aren't you afraid?" Lachlan asked.
"Afraid of what?"
"Like, living on your own? You do realize that now you have to do your own taxes and pay full rent and manage money and like, do everything on your own?" Lachlan rambled.
"Well, when you say it like that, you make it sound scary."
"That's what it is Mads. Moving out on your own is not easy. It's a huge life decision and I just want to make sure that you realize how huge this is" Lachlan stressed.
I'd never thought of it like that. Paying taxes. Paying full rent. Buying furniture. Paying bills. That's all the stuff my parents do. Not me. What if I'm not ready to do by myself?
"You're right. It's a huge responsibility" I admitted.
"But hey, that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. I think you should. If that's what you want to do, then I support you 100%" Lachlan reassured.
"Well, if you think I should and I know I have your support then I'm doing it. I'll talk to Mitch about it and I'll move out" I stated.
"That's great! I'm so proud of you" Lachlan cried.
"Thank you Lachlan. I love you" I smiled, placing my hand on top of his.
"I love you too Mads. We should have a toast" Lachlan suggested, holding up his wine glass.
Picking mine up, we both held them in the middle of the table.
"A toast to you deciding to move out on your own and officially becoming the responsible person in this relationship" Lachlan declared.
"Cheers" I giggled, as our glasses clinked together.
Sipping on my sparkling water, I felt satisfied with myself.
I just made the biggest decision in my life without a real hesitation. I'm going to be a real adult. Yay!
