~ Maddie's POV ~

" Happy Birthday Maddie and Lachlan ! Happy Birthday to you ! " the squad sang at the top of their lungs , causing everyone else in the restaurant to join in .

What did I do to deserve friends like these ?

Once they stopped singing , Lachlan and I leaned in and blew out the single candles on top of our pancake stacks ; causing everyone in the restaurant to cheer .

Once everyone had went back to what they were doing before , my phone vibrated in my pocket .

I fished it out and looked at the notification that brighten up my screen .

" Everything okay ? " Lachlan asked , bringing his voice down to a soft whisper so only we could hear each other .

" Yeah , everything's okay " I lied .

It's his birthday too . He shouldn't have to worry about my stupid problems .

" You sure ? " he pressed . I could tell he sensed something was wrong .

" Yeah , for sure " I repeated , nodding my head .

" Okay " Lachlan said ; dropping the subject .

I looked down at my phone in my lap once more before digging into my pancake stack .

• After Breakfast •

" Why are we pulling into Dollarama ? " I asked ; raising an eyebrow at the yellow and green themed store .

( A/N : Dollarama is a store in Canada where you can get anything for like 2 or 3 dollars . Even though it sounds amazing , everything you buy only lasts about a week . Expect food , that only lasts 2 minutes :D )

" Two words . Birthday . Fun " Vikk responded .

After everyone was done eating breakfast , Preston , Lachlan , Vikk , Ally , Jessica , Rob , Mitch and I climbed into the red minivan we rented for the day and now Rob was pulling into Dollarama ; leaving both Lachlan and I on the edge of our seats .

Rob pulled the car to a stop and turned off the engine before everyone took off their seatbelts .

" Where do you two think you're going ? " Ally interpreted as Lachlan and I stepped out of the car .

" To Dollarama ? " Lachlan responded , a confused expression laced in his voice .

" You two stay in the car . It's a surprise what we are getting ! " Preston cried , pushing us back into the car .

" We will be back as soon as possible . No making out ! " Jessica called over her shoulder as the 6 of them walked through the parking lot towards the store .

Rob pressed a button on the car keys causing the car to let a loud beep and all the doors to lock .

" Looks like it's just you and me " Lachlan sighed , pulling me into his side .

" They said no making out " I reminded him playfully .

" I wasn't planning too " Lachlan smirked .

A thin smile spread across my lips . " What do you think they are getting ? ".

" I don't know . Hopefully it isn't anything crazy ".

" Knowing them ; it will be crazy " I pointed out .

" True " Lachlan replied before putting in both of his earbuds .

I played with the matching bracelet on my wrist as Lachlan bobbed his head slightly to his music .

I looked down at Lachlan's wrist where his bracket was tied tightly . I smiled .

I really like these bracelets . The symbol on it is like the symbol of our relationship come to think of it . Two hearts symbolizes the two of us and the arrow symbolizes how we are so connected .

Okay , that sounded really cheesy .

" What are you listening to ? " I interrupted Lachlan .

He took out one of his ear buds and mentioned it towards me . " Here ".

I took the bud and inserted it in my ear ; the familiar sound of rap music cloud my hearing .

" I know this ! It's Drake , Energy isn't it ? " I cried excitedly .

Lachlan smiled proudly at me , looking kinda impressed .

" I didn't think you listened to Drake ".

" When Drake is your boyfriends favourite artist , you pick up on a few songs " I responded , shrugging causally .

(A/N : Okay , I'm black . The word n*ggas come up in this song that Maddie is about to sing . Maddie isn't gonna say the word in the book or story because it's not a word I want in this book for reasons of history and slavery and shit . So I'm just gonna skip the word and in placement add a # . Glad we are on the same page )

" I got enemies , got a lotta enemies . Got a lotta people tryna drain of this energy . They tryna take the wave from a # . Fucking with the kid and pray for your # " Lachlan and I sang along .

" I got people talking down , man , like I give a fuck . I bought this one a purse , I bought this is a truck . I bought this one a house , I bought this one a mall . I keep buying shit just make sure you keep track of it all " I rapped , causing Lachlan to fall silent just to listen to me in awe .

" I got bitches asking me about the code for the Wi-Fi . So they can talk about they timeline . And show me pictures of they friends . Just to tell me they ain't really friends . Ex-girl she the female version of me . I got strippers in my life , but they be virgins to me . I heard everybody talking about what they gonna be . I got high hopes for # we gon see . I got money in the courts so all my # are free . About to call your ass a Uber , I got somewhere to be . I hear fairy tales about how they gon run up on me . Well run up when you see me then and we gon see " I continued .

" Yay ! " Lachlan cheered , pausing the song .

I blushed in response .

" I didn't know little 5 Seconds Of Summer fangirl , goody two shoes Madeline knew how to rap " Lachlan teased , poking me in my side playfully .

" I didn't know I could either " I replied .

" Well , you are really good . The next Fetty Wrap . All you need to know is how to do that bird call thing " Lachlan laughed .

I let out a laugh . " Why does he even do that ? ".

Lachlan shrugged . " That's the music industry nowadays . If you wanna make it big , you have to know how to summon birds ".

We both burst out into a fit of laughter .

Suddenly , the doors to the car unlocked ; indicting that the squad was back .

" We're back ! " Ally cried excitedly ; a Dollarama plastic bag in hand .

" What did you guys even buy in there ? " I asked curiously .

Everyone buckled their seatbelts before Ally threw the bag at me ; it landing in my lap .

" Put those on " Ally instructed .

Lachlan and I exchanged confused glances before I opened the bag ; revealing a fluffy pink birthday girl crown and a light blue clip-on birthday boy ribbon . (A/N : Ribbons and stuff in Media )

" It's your birthdays . Got to make sure that everyone knows that " Vikk explained , a thin smile spread on his lips .

I flashed a bright smile at everyone before reaching in and grabbing the two labels . I handed the ribbon to Lachlan before slowly lifting the plastic crown on top of my head .

" I feel like a princess " I commented .

" You already are " Mitch smiled .

" Brother and sister moment ! This is going in the vlog ! " Rob gushed , pointing towards his vlogging camera .

" Does everything need to be recorded Rob-A- Dob- Flob ? " Preston cut in .

" Yes , these are memories we can look back on in our old age ! " Rob protested .

" You starting to sound like my mom " Lachlan teased .

" You know what ? Screw you guys . When you guys all lose your memories , I will remember everything through my vlogs " Rob huffed before turning his back on us .

Rob turned on the car engine and drove away from Dollarama , onto the highway .

Where are they taking us now ?
