"What.. The.. Hell!" Selena shouts looking at Andy's hologram.

Andy backed up ready to get yelled at.

"Now I know your upset..." Andy said trying to calm her down.

"Upset, doesn't even begin to describe it!" Selena said smacking the console, getting his attention.

On the monitor was an email to Selena from Bruce Wayne...

"You are cordially invited to the Wayne Foundation Flora and Fauna Charity Gala. We hope to see you there." The invitation said.

"I get that you have your reasons for not wanting to go to.. any sort of parties. But you have been invited. The press expect you to be there." Andy explained causing Selena to drop her head in dispair. 

"Look, its' not until tomorrow night, just give it some thought during you're free time at school, but don't feel pressured. Get some sleep, you've had a rough night." Andy said as he holo-touched her back and then disappeared.

Selena sat in the chair and just stared at the invite, her finger lingered over the delete button. She didn't want to go, but yet something inside of her convinced her that she should.

Selena had gotten her favorite drink from the coffee shop as she headed her way to school. Selena walked through the gates, rubbing her forehead and noticed hot it was today. She gripped her Green Tea, and walked up to the stairs. Before she entered her first class, a certain boy was waiting for her. 

"I don't think we finished our conversation." Tim starts while making it sound like he's laughing. "I guess we didn't, let me first say thanks, for knocking some sense into those boys." Selena replied.

"No problem, I don't like guys who force themselves on girls, especially smart girls." Tim said.

"You think I'm smart?" Selena asks as she was flustered. "Well... uh.. yeah... I didn't mean to-to... make you feel uncomfortable." Tim stuttered. "It's ok, I guess I just... ugh." Selena replies then rubbing her temple.

"You ok?" Tim asks taking a step closer. "Yeah, just a lot on my mind. We gotta go, or we'll be late." Selena replies as they rushed into their seats. After a few minutes, Leanne and Rianne whisper to her. 

"Girl, what's up between you and Tim?" Leanne asks. "Nothing, we just talked before class." Selena answers as she wrote down notes. "You are so blind." Rianne says.

"What do you mean?" Selena asks. "We saw him that day, before he saved you he couldn't take his eyes off of you, and when you looked at him he was as red as a cherry." Rianne answered. 

"I still don't understand." Selena says. "It means he likes you." Leanne explained.

Selena's eyes opened a bit from shock as it took that statement to causally look over at Tim, he had a smile on his face when she looked over at him.

She turned her head back, "You think?" Selena asks. Leanne and Rianne both nodded their heads as Selena then started to smile. 

It was lunch time and Selena was typing as fast as the Flash on her laptop. "Working as always, you need to eat something." Leanne said sitting down. "Yeah those bags under your eyes are starting to worry us." Rianne replied sitting next to her sister. "I just need to finish this before next period..." Selena says as her screen went black. "Oh no.. No no no." Selena finished as she had her hands on her temples.

"What's wrong?" Rianne asks. "I just lost my entire hard drive, everything is gone." Selena answered as she was holding back her tears. "Please tell us you had nothing memorially important on their?" Leanne asks causing Selena to drop her head.

"What's up?" Tim asks as he had rushed over from his table to ours. Selena and Leanne had slightly jumped, "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. Is something wrong?" Tim asks again.
"Her hard drive is gone. She lost everything." Rianne answered taking a bite of her salad.

"Can I see? Maybe I can help." Tim offers. "Yeah, sure." Selena answers as she turned her computer to Tim who started working away. About 10 seconds later he was done, but during those 10 seconds he glared up from the screen behind Selena, then back down to it.
"Your hard drive is restored." Tim showed her his success. 

Selena was ecstatic. "How did you...?" Selena asks seeing all her files had returned. "I'm much more than a pretty face." Tim jokes, which was not as funny as he hoped. "Thank you!" Selena shouted as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Tim noticed someone behind her and gave a smile. 

Selena realized what she had done and took her arms off. "Sorry I didn't mean too..." She started rambling. "It's fine, it's cute. I'll see you later." Tim replies as he stood up and walked away, happy for what he did.

Selena was in shock. "Did he just say I'm cute?" Selena asks.

"I think we just found this year's cutest couple" Leanne answered. "Oh shut up." Selena said gaining her senses back and put her laptop back in her bag.

"Why are boy's so weird?" Selena asks.

"Boys be mysterious, they have their own ways just like us girls." Rianne says. 
"What do you mean?" Selena asks. 

"What she meant to say was, you should take your time to get to know Tim, then see how you feel after getting to know him. Then one day if he reveals how he feels then just give in." Leanne explained. They had walked away as the bell rang.

"Give in?" Selena asks clueless.

"Have you ever had a boyfriend?" Rianne asks.

Selena shook her head, "Girl, you are really something." Leanne said while laughing. Selena and Rianne started to laugh as well.

"Give in." Selena thought as it echoed through her mind.

During every class she had with Tim, she would casually glance over and see him suddenly smile when he noticed her. They were so in love, but they are so clueless of how much.

Selena had gotten in her car and was driven home.

Selena went up to her room and got all of her homework done at her desk, then with time to spare she made her way down to her cave.

She made her way past the stairs that lead to her cavern pool, and up the other set of stairs to her actual cave/lair. 

The layout is the same, but it's a dark cave with neon purple lights/black lights, and sadly there's no disco ball, its actually a raindrop chandelier below.

Past the pool table and the bar island was the rest of her cave, including her Howler Computer set up. 

The screens were bigger, and the remotes controlled multiple commands inside the cave.

It was 5:30 pm and Selena was still mentally debating on going. "You still haven't decided yet?" Andy said appearing in his hologram, again.

"I don't know if I should, I'm living proof that parties can end in disasters, heavy on the dis." Selena explained as she had the weather on one screen, and her documents on the other.

"You need to get out there and blend in or else people are going to get suspicious." Andy said walking up the steps and stood next to the station.

"No, what I need to do is go out there and be the Hero that Gotham needs." Selena stood up and walked up to the pool table. "I think you need to ask yourself, is that what you want? Do you want a normal life?" Andy asks.

Selena stopped in her tracks, and placed her hands on the island bar. After a minute, she came to realize, "Normal is overrated. Fine, where's the dress?" Selena caved in. Andy clapped his hands together in victory and then showed her to the bookcase that was in the right after the island.

"Pull out; How To Kill A Mocking Bird." Andy instructed. Selena grabbed the book and pulled it, but when she let go a mechanical lock was released and the case them opened out revealing an amazing closet.

Selena was shocked with a jaw drop.

"Is this.....?" Selena stuttered.

"It's all yours." Andy said as she looked and touched everything. "Your Aunt wanted you to feel like a girl, but we still added your style as well. For undercover work if needed." Andy explained. "Thank you so much, Echo, this is amazing. Thank you." Selena said grateful.

"The dress is right there on the mannequin. Get dressed, you have a party to attend." Andy replies.

At Wayne Manor, guests were arriving by the minute.

"Nice to see you again, Mr. Wayne." Mayor John says. "Likewise, Mr. Mayor." Bruce replies walking the mayor inside. The guests were mingling, even the Wayne boys were having fun.

"How come you boys are not mingling?" Dick asks holding a glass of wine along with Jason and his girl friend, Helena. "Don't patronize me, Grayson." Damien replies. "Let's just hope nothing happens tonight." Helena says.

"Hey, we got this. Let's just keep our eyes, out. Especially, Tim here." Jason replies. "What's that supposed to mean?" Tim asks insulted. "Bruce mentioned a surprise." Jason said, "So just keep your eyes open." Dick replied.

"I don't...." Tim tries to say but got interrupted. 

"Just trust me." Dick said, then winked. The boys were watching Bruce mingle as they were bored. "Don't you wish these things would just get over with as soon as it starts?" Jason asks. "yeah, we all know what you'd rather be doing." Damien says. Jason didn't encourage him, but it cause Tim to chuckle as he suddenly wondered what Selena was doing.

The charity part of the event had only just begun, when the press outside got more and more rambunctious. The doors were opened again as a young girl walked in.

Selena was getting eyed by most of the adults as well as the young men who was about her age. She casually went to the bar and asked for a Shirley Temple/Virgin.

When they made it halfway through the charity event, they took an intermission. 

Bruce and Dick walked over to Tim and both nudged his elbows. "What?! You guys have been acting weird all night. What is going on with..." Tim asks as he then looked at Bruce's finger pointing at a young girl. Tim's eyes opened wide as he realized who she was.

"..you." Tim finished as his breath was taken away.

Selena wore her hair up, but she left strands down in her face.

The light shined off her eyes with her natural Rose Gold makeup.

Her dress, was the most beautiful out of all the girls, it made her petite and well fit body look graceful.

While her shoes were a simple black strap heel.

She glances at the many and wealthy men and woman here tonight. 

Tim was building up the courage to go and talk to her. He then noticed a group of boys about to gang up on her. He kept his eye on her as one of the guys snuck behind and put a pill in her drink. Before he went over Jason stopped him.

"Wait for them to leave, that's you best chance." Jason whispers as he took Helena's hand and walked off with her. Tim waited for the guys to leave, then walked over to her.

"Hey, didn't think I see you here tonight?" Tim said catching her attention.

"Tim? Glad to see at least one familiar face here tonight." Selena replied giving him a friendly hug. He didn't hesitate at first to wrap his arms around her waist.

Tim glanced over and saw the boys laughing and glancing over at the two of them.

Tim eased up, "Can we talk?" Tim asks. "Sure." Selena answered, Tim took her hand and led her to the other side of the room far away from those boys.

"You should stay away from the bar for the rest of the night." Tim said to her. "Why, I heard the drinks are fantastic." Selena replied showing her drink that she grabbed that she hid behind her.

Tim grabbed her wrist that held the drink, and stopped her.

"Trust me when I say this, don't drink that." Tim said to her concerned.

"Why because of those idiots who thought I couldn't clearly see they spiked my drink?" Selena replied dumping the glass in the nearby fern.

Tim chuckled, "You knew?" Tim asks. "The only reason someone would want to talk to me at an event like this would be for that one stupid reason." Selena answered, forcing herself not to cry.

"What do you mean?" Tim asks. "I was always told, I would amount to nothing but my mothers pretty face." Selena answers trying to not sound like she was about to cry.

"Hey, those people are assholes, they have no idea what they're talking about. I see a smart independent girl who isn't afraid to show everyone who she is. Someone who has gone through so much pain and still managed to smile a pretty smile that can make the people around her smile back." Tim said to her, and blushed slightly. 

Selena was in shock, but before she managed to say anything back it got really cold in the room. The door was frozen over, and burst into pieces. 

"Hello everyone, sorry I am late. My invitation got lost in the mail. Hand over all the jewels you have, now!" Mr. Freeze shouts.

Tim held Selena as his goons held up guns at everyone. One goon came at the Wayne boys and got Tim and Selena surrounded. "Hand over the jewels sweetheart, otherwise this won't be fun." Goon #1 said. Tim held Selena behind him as she wasn't moving or speaking. "Selena? Selena! Are you ok?" Tim whispers, but she didn't answer.

Tim slightly turned as he noticed her eyes were in shock. "Oh now, please tell me she's not freaking out at a time like this. Not now! I hope the guys got out of here and help us." Tim thought to himself.

Selena couldn't think about present situations, she was only seeing past.

When one of the goons grabbed her arm trying to get her attention, Tim punched him but got knocked back to the stairs. Selena was then pistol whipped and fell on the floor.

She heard distorted voices as she felt her body in slow-mo.

Selena than felt the wolf inside, 

"Selena..."

"Whos' there?" Selena asks in her head.

"Selena, let go. Be the wolf, you need to get up."

"How, I'm am nothing." Selena thought as she closed her eyes in reality.

"You are not nothing, you are the shadow that haunt's their nightmares, you are a shadow of the night, you are the wolf  that will protect Gotham City. You.. are... Nighthowler!" The voice in her head told her, which snapped her out of it.

She forced her eyes opened and they shimmered yellow, giving her the strength to kick the goon in the stomach and send him back a few feet. 

The other goon cocked his gun but Selena grabbed his wrist and bent it until it was broken, then punched him right in the jaw. He laid unconscious as Selena went for the other goons. She took them down one by one, rendering Freeze alone, his back up asleep on the ground.

"Who do you think you are, little girl?" Freeze asks. 
"To be honest, you really don't want to know." Selena answered as she grabbed the red carpet her was under and pulled it. Freeze was on his butt as her then swiped her leg causing her to fall on he side.

He quickly froze her feet causing her to scream in pain.

"I won't ask again, who are you?" Freeze asks.

Trying to control her breathing, Selena smelled something familiar. "Oh me, I'm just the decoy." Selena answered as she covered her head. Then before Freeze could react, Batman and Red Hood punched Freeze in the face knocking him back.

"Robin, Nightwing, free the hostages." Red Hood shouts as he and Batman held off Freeze.

Selena lowered her arms and saw Nightwing and Robin punching out the rest of the goons and getting the hostages outside. Red Robin had run up to Selena accidentally startling her.

"Oh gosh!" Selena said trying to catch her breath, as she could see it due to the temp.

"Sorry about that. Are you ok?" Red Robin asks. "I would be if I could feel my legs." Selena answered as she saw her ankles were covered in ice, and her lips started to turn blue. 

"Just hold on, Nightwing I need some help." Red Robin shouts.

Nightwing came running, "Her body temp is getting lower, if we don't break the ice the frostbite will be the least of her problems." Nightwing replies. "Just hang in there, Selena. Please." Red Robin said as he held her in his arms.

"H-how do y-you kn-know my n-name?" Selena asks before passing out from the cold.

Before she knew it, Selena woke up in a bedroom, that wasn't hers. She shot up and was suddenly cold.

Tim rushed to her side along with Dick. "Wh-what hap-happened?" Selena asks rubbing her arms.

"You passed out from the cold, Red Robin and Nightwing freed you from the ice and got you away from the danger while Red Hood, Robin and Batman took down Mr. Freeze." Tim explains.

"That explains the cold, how long have I been out?" Selena asks letting her legs hang over the side. "Just an hour, you really scared us when you passed out, luckily you woke up sooner than we expected." Dick answers.

"What's gonna happen to him, Mr. Freeze?" Selena asks. "He'll be taken away, don't worry, you're safe now." Dick answers as he then left Tim and Selena alone.

"I'm so glad you're awake, when I saw you fight those guys I was so scared you'd get hurt, but you really handled yourself out there. Where'd you learn to fight like that?" Tim asks.

"My uncle, he is a great master in self defense, while my aunt is a master at fighting, they both wanted me to know how to defend myself and fight if necessary." Selena explains as she then felt a chill up her spine.

"You ok? You still cold?" Tim asks getting up. "Yeah a little, but I'm fine. Don't worry." Selena answers rubbing her arms again. Tim came back with a blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders and crouched down right in front of her now at eye level.

"I want to ask you something?" Tim asks. "Is something wrong?" Selena asks. "Oh, no, I just.. I was wondering if we were... friends? And if it was ok with you I'd love to be friends with you." Tim answered as he stammered.

Selena chuckled as her cheeks started to heat up and turn slightly pink.

"Hey.." Selena said stopping him and placing her hands on his cheeks, so his eyes were staring at hers.

"I'd love to be friends with you too." Selena answered him. They both smiled as they soon embraced each other in a hug. Selena felt something in her heart again, and Tim felt the same.

The night was still young, but Selena just wanted to get home. "How am I going to get home now? The police and the press are probably waiting for me outside those doors." Selena asks as she once again stared into Tim's eyes.

"I have an idea, follow me." Tim said getting up and giving her his hand. Selena took his hand and he lead her around the house to the backyard. "This is beautiful Tim, but why are back here?" Selena asks stepping down the steps with her heels in her hand.

"How about you open your eyes for once before you get hurt!" A voice called out to her from afar as a car pulled up from the shaddows. "OMG Uncle Andy!" Selena shouts as she ran to him. He got out of the car and hugged him.

"It's so good to see you." Selena said. "Same here kid." Andy said. "What are you doing here?" Selena asks. 
"I was going to meet you at home but then I got a call saying to meet you back here around 10." Andy explains.

Selena turned her head with her eyebrow arched, as Tim looked away acting suspiciously funny. "You called him, didn't you?" Selena asks. "Yeah, I thought if anyone should drive you home, it would be your uncle." Tim answers. 

"Thank you, you are the best!" Selena said rushing to him and jumping on him wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You are welcome, Selena. You should get home, and get some rest. Try to stay warm tonight, ok." Tim said with his hands on her waist.

"Ok, thanks for staying with me till I woke up, you're very sweet, Tim." Selena replied placing a kiss on his cheek, and walked to the car. He watched her get in and drive away, and he was blushing like crazy.

"Ohhh! Someone's in love." Jason sang from behind while he and Dick were holding back their laughter.

"Oh shut up you assholes!" Tim replied flustered.

Selena had changed from her dress and into her black spaghetti strap tank and light pink shorts. She had crashed on her bed, ready to let sleep take over for awhile before going out as her alter ego.

About an hour later, Selena was walking past the water, pool table, island bar, and saw Andy putting the finishing touch on her hood. "I see you've been busy." Selena said. "Just finished your brand new, bulletproof armor!" Andy replied revealing her costume.

"Echo, you rule!" Selena shouts excited as she took it form him and changed.

"It feels lighter!" Selena shouted coming back as she wore her costume.

"The material was made with mega-ultra fibers, 20x stronger then Kevlar, more durable than normal fabric, and it's lined with a small layer of lead so not even Superman can see through. Plus, I also made improvements on your utility belt, it has more capabilities for me when I'm monitoring you from here." Andy explained.

Selena clipped on her belt and walked away. "You headed out?" Andy asks. 

"yep." Selena answers. "But I just got here." Andy said pouting.

"Quit pouting, its not attractive. Email Fox and tell him you are ready to take your part in the company." Selena replied.

"Why?" Andy asks. "So people don't get suspicious of you being home all the time. Remember, we gotta blend in." Selena answered being an ass.

"Now those were my words, you ass." Andy said turning to the monitors and pulling up maps of the city and monitoring her bodily functions.

"Yeah, I know. I know I also got one and I learned how to be one because of you." Selena replies jumping from roof to roof.

"Ok, the maps say there's a building to your left, it's in 5th and Main, it'll give you a good advantage point to look over the city." Echo states.

"Thanks, Echo. I'm gonna turn off the comms, just for a few minutes. I need to think about something real quick." NH said.

"Thinking about a boy?" Echo asks. "Oh grow up, when did you become the uncle who acts like an aunt who's happy to see her niece thinking about boys." NH then smacks her head, "Dammit!" NH thought as she landed on the next roof.

"I knew it! Someone's got a crush, someone's got a crush!" Echo sang and clapped his hands in victory again.

"I hate myself, I literally hate myself right now." NH said as she walked across the rooftop gaining speed and jumping again and again.

She landed on the rooftop she needed and peered down at Gotham. "It's so beautiful up here, Echo." NH said at peace.

"Your mother thought the same thing, she always wanted to make this city a safe place for you to grow up in. That's why she did what she did all those years ago." Echo said drinking some water from his mug.

"Yeah, she not only saved this city, but she saved me." NH replies about to shed some tears.
"Who saved you?" A voice said from behind.

"Echo, talk to you later." NH whispered as she turned off her comms from her belt and also pressed her voice modifier.

"Who are you talking too?" The voice asks from behind her, NH turned her head to see Red Robin standing behind her a ways near the rooftop access door.

"Just the many voices in my head, don't you and the others bat boys have those?" NH asks sarcastically while squatting down near the edge of the building.

"Be carful otherwise you'll fall." Red Robin warned her.
"What, you worried about me?" Nighthowler asks innocently.

"What if I am?" Red Robin asks back, while walking up to her.
"What you're doing is dangerous." Nighthowler states. "I can take care of myself. I always manage to come out of the fights alive." RR replied.

"No! Trying to get to know me, that's the danger. Not all the bad guys in Gotham could compare to me." NH states getting back on her feet and walked near the door.

"What do you mean?" RR asks.

"I am not a villain. All I want to do is make my home a safe place." Nighthowler answered as she leaned against the wall.

"It's hard to trust people. Especially when they hide behind a mask." Red Robin said rubbing the next of his neck.
"Yeah, especially harder to be out there all alone, fighting the good fight." NH states, lowering her guard a little. 

Before she could react, RR had his arms up against the wall, pinning her in front of her.

"I can help you, if you just let me." RR said. 

"You can't help me." Nighthowler replied.

"Why not?" Red Robin asks. "Because..." NH said as she twisted the two of them until she had RR pinned against the wall. Before he could react, she swiftly pulled her bottom mask down and kissed him. He was startled and didn't kiss back.

Nighthowler eased up and saw him blush. "You wouldn't like who is underneath this mask." Nighthowler whispers as she then disappeared within the shadows. 

Red Robin covered his mouth in awe as he didn't see where she went.

Red Hood and Robin came out from behind the door.

"Well, that just happened." RR said.

"Yep. So how do you feel?" Robin asks.

"What?" Red Robin asks. "How did it feel?" Robin asks again.

"I think I fell in love." Red Robin admitted. 

"Which one?" Hood asks. Red Robin turned his head to see the Hood.

Red Robin now had a choice to make; would he fall in love with Selena Karsen, or would he fall for the mask?

Ok, I admit not my favorite chapter I had something else in mind but I decided to write it this way in this chapter. But I will write it in another chapter, but right now I have to figure out what I want to do for the next few chapters cause RN I'm having a little writers block problem.

Wish me luck, I hope I know what I'm doing.
