He carefully placed her on the ground. Her breathing was barely noticeable, and he rested his fingers on her neck. At least she had a weak pulse, but he could feel it. Hurrying to escape before Taehyung and the police arrived, he covered her with the blanket he had used to get her out of his brother's prison and fled, leaving the abandoned building.
He deftly jumped over the half-ruined fence and hid behind a huge tree, waiting to see what would happen.
He rolled his eyes dramatically when, twenty minutes later, he recognized Taehyung's jeep, which stopped whistling, and its owner jumped out, running toward the abandoned building.
"Minа!" Taehyung stopped at the entrance and looked around. The sun's rays penetrated in places through the dilapidated roof, illuminating the bare room. "Mina ..." he ran and fell to his knees in front of her body. His heart stopped when he saw her face swollen and blue, the dried blood from her lips, the traces of tears on her cheeks.
"Don't touch her!" he turned to the entrance, freezing in the middle of his movement. "Get away from her!" Taehyung stood up slowly and stood with his back to Mina.
His eyes fixed on the barrel of the gun aimed at him, and he raised his hands, indicating that he was unarmed. "Calm down, friend ..." Taehyung began, stepping forward.
"I'm not your friend, Kim Taehyung, and now step away from my wife!" the man waved his muzzle, indicating that he insisted that his orders be carried out immediately. "Your wife ..." Taehyung looked back at Mina, but turned sharply to the man again when he heard gunshots coming from outside. The man grinned angrily and shook his head contentedly. "Don't hope your people are under my control!" Taehyung gritted his teeth as Namjoon's voice came to him and sounded hoarse. "Who are you?" he asked, looking anxiously at Mina again, barely noticing her breathing, if he slowed down too much, he really wouldn't get her out of here alive.
"I told you, I'm her husband!" the man looked at him as if he were stupid. "Once my brother does something useful, though against my will." he also looked at Mina and Taehyung noticed hunger in his eyes. "She's my wife, as far as I know, we're not divorced ..." Taehyung tried to divert his attention from Mina. "To me, you never got married." the man shrugged and Taehyung frowned. Who the hell was it, was his brother the man who sent the messages?
Sirens sounded outside, and the man looked over his shoulder in annoyance. "Oh, it's obviously going to be fun ..." he tilted his head curiously, but a second later he turned back to Taehyung, who had taken advantage to get a little closer.
"I ask again, who are you?" Taehyung tried to sound calm, but his heart was pounding and every muscle in his body was screaming with tension. "If I could get any close" he thought.
"Min Eunji, Mina's husband." Eunji bowed slightly. "I'm her husband and I assure you I plan to stay that way!" Taehyung growled, shifting his eyes to the entrance, where new shots and shouts erupted.
"Ah, stupid Kim Taehyung ..." Eungji snapped his tongue. "She was mine before she met you and will be mine again when you die!" he said, pointing his weapon at Taehyung's forehead.
"What do you mean she was yours before she met me?" Taehyung was trying to gain time, hoping her cries from outside were police and would soon invade them.
"He wants to say he's been in love with her since he was a child and his sick fantasy, she's been his wife ever since." they turned abruptly, staring at Min Jung Hee. "Right, big brother?" he grinned, pointing a gun at his brother. Taehyung narrowed his eyes. "Brother?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Jung Hee?" Eunji swallowed his anger. "Are you going to risk everything for him?" he asked, and Jung Hee shrugged. "You see, Hyung, the problem is, I really don't care." Eunji narrowed his eyes. "Neither for the company, nor for you, nor for what will follow ..." he sighed. "Actually, I don't even hate Taehyung" he grinned at his opponent's sideways glance. "I even envy him." he winked at him. "And you call me crazy?" Eunji asked angrily. "Oh, hyung, at least I'm better at one thing!" Jung Hee grinned. "I'll kill you!" Eunji hissed and moved the barrel, pointing it at Jung Hee, Taehyung took advantage and with all his weight, landed on top of him, knocking him to the ground.
They quarreled, rolling in the dust as Jung Hee laughed eerily hysterically, wrapping his arms around his stomach.
Taehyung slammed his fist into Eunji's nose as he squeezed his wrist with his other hand, trying to push the weapon out of his hand. The smaller man struggled, but his size and strength were unequal, though he was tired, and the adrenaline allowed Taehyung to push his exhausted muscles. Eunji dropped his weapon and pulled his hand away, returning the blow. Taehyung bent over, but tried to hold on to him. His gaze fell on Mina for a moment, and he gritted his teeth, harnessing all his strength in one blow. His fist slammed into Eunji's chin, his head jerked and his eyes widened as his body slowly sank beneath Taehyung and everything turned black. "God, my brother is really bad!" Jung Hee commented, bursting out laughing again.
Breathing heavily, Taehyung turned and looked at him. "And what do you want?" he asked, and Jung Hee looked at him in surprise. "Me nothing!" Jung Hee shrugged and dropped his pistol. Taehyung looked at him suspiciously as he stood up. "You want me to believe that after all the years of rivalry, you're just helping me?" with heavy footsteps, he approached Mina and lifted her into his arms, searching for her breath. "Damn it!" he turned to Jung Hee, but he was gone. Squinting, he headed for the exit, pressing Mina to his chest.
"Tae!" Namjoon was running towards him, bloodstains on his face and clothes, and Seyong was following in his footsteps. "The ambulance is waiting!" the lieutenant stared at Mina as Taehyung carried her in the direction of the medics rushing toward him.
