"Leave him here." he pointed to the place, watching from his desk the workers preparing Mina's desk for her return. "How did you get her to come back?" Namjoon asked, leaning against the door frame. "Hyung, come in!" Taehyung jumped to meet him. They hugged fraternally and sat down on the couch while the workers wandered past them. "So, how did you do it?" Namjoon smiled. "Difficult. She still accepts the fact that we have a relationship and that I will not give it up." Taehyung sighed. "But I'll convince her. I have to!" he shook his head and smiled.
"You like her a lot, huh?" Namjoon leaned on his knees, fingers crossed. Taehyung just looked at him. Was he falling in love? He was entangled like a fish in a fishing net, and if she wished, he would turn the world upside down for her sake. Of course, Mina or anyone else didn't need to know.
"You know, even if you don't answer me, I know." Namjoon laughed. True, they knew each other too well, and the fact that they used words was just a formality. Even Jin knew before him that he liked Mina. And now Namjoon knew what Taehyung wanted, as he knew.
This woman had taken his heart and soul, and he would make sure she blossomed and became what she should be. He would get her out of her shell and share the beauty of life and their love with her. It didn't matter that she was fighting hard against what there was no going back.
Did it all happen too fast, yes, did it matter, not to him. If what was happening scared him, he was much more afraid that nothing would happen if he slowed things down. He had known his gray mouse for more than a year. So much time wasted just because he had hesitated, denied, deceived himself, that the only reason he was watching her was because she was out of touch, and that was suspicious to him.
"I'm glad, really." Taehyung nodded at the workers, releasing them, and looked at Namjoon again. "Me too, Hyung." Taehyung leaned back, arms folded behind his neck.
"Damn, Lily will be mad at me!" Taehyung hurried, swinging open the front door. A late meeting had delayed him, and he had missed dinner, something Lily had been angry about for days. He set his bag and keys on the coffee table and took off his coat, tossing it on the back of the couch.
"Tae, baby!" he froze. Taking a breath to control his anger, he turned to the kitchen. The woman he hated in the gut, too, sat there drinking his wine, smiling her most charming smile. Former Mrs. Kim Leah! The bitch who abandoned him and his daughter. And the woman who had brought the light back into his life stood aside, her head bowed and her arms crossed in front of her, as if she had been punished.
He looked at her coldly as he approached. Taehyung walked past Leah and stopped in front of Mina. He lifted her chin with two fingers and kissed her tenderly as she stared with her mouth open in surprise. "Good evening, princess, I'm sorry I'm late!" he smiled at her and she blushed.
Hugging her protectively around his waist, he turned to Leah. "What are you doing in our house?" Taehyung asked calmly, looking at her indifferently. Leah set her glass on the counter, smiling sweetly. "I came to see my husband and daughter, of course." she said almost amiably. "Ex-husband!" Taehyung emphasized. "I see you've met Mina," he looked at the woman in his arms. "My fiancée!" he rubbed, and Mina took a sharp breath as the other woman gasped theatrically.
"You've changed your taste, darling, do you like the unsightly now?" she rested her chin on her palm, staring coldly at Mina. "I fall for real women, not fake works of art, who change hands as soon as they find someone who can pay more." said Taehyung.
"Ouch, this hurts!" exclaimed Leah, but she didn't look offended. "Say what you want and it disappears, I plan to spend a quiet evening with my fiancée." Taehyung pressed Mina a little harder, trying to make her relax. He should have told her about Leah before, now she wouldn't feel like an intruder.
"If you want." Leah shrugged. "I came to pick up my daughter." she said, Taehyung laughed, and Mina looked at him in shock. "Good luck with that, Leah." he replied coldly. "We both know you're not here for Lily, so save your theater and get your greedy ass out of our house!" he growled.
"As you say, dear, but expect a summons from the court, the procedure is already underway." Leah shrugged and stood up for the door. Taehyung followed, almost dragging Mina with him. "Oh!" Leah turned to them with her hand on the lock. "And congratulations, I guess." she smiled wickedly as she opened the door.
"Evil, greedy bitch!" he cursed as soon as she closed the door behind her. "Princess, are you all right, didn't she insult you? Did she tell you anything? Whatever it is, know that she's a mean, cold bitch!" he embraced Mina's face, showering her with kisses. Mina was too startled to answer immediately, clutching his shirt. "If she does anything to you, princess, I swear, if she touches you with even a finger, I will kill her!" he continued, trying to reassure her that it was not he who was angry, but she.
"Honey?" he looked at her anxiously, and she looked up at him. "Can she really take Lily?" Mina asked in a trembling voice as her tears slowly began to flow down her cheeks. His heart ached at her anxious gaze, and his body tensed with anger. "No, princess, she will try, but she can't take her!" Taehyung whispered soothingly, wiping her tears with his thumbs. "No court will entrust her with a child once the truth about her comes to light." he smiled. "But she said ..." he kissed her, squeezing her hard. "It doesn't matter what she says!" Taehyung stroked her cheeks. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about her, you wouldn't worry so much now, she only came for money, Lily is the last thing she thinks about." Taehyung assured her, and she nodded, leaning on his chest.
They hugged for a moment at the front door before Taehyung took Mina in his arms, carried her to the couch, sitting with her on his lap, and he told her all about Leah without sparing her anything. She listened to him, stunned by Leah's coldness and greed. Her mind refused to accept the fact that a woman would abandon her newborn baby and her husband just for the money.
