Chapter 1 - The Phone Call

Vincent laid in his bed, sleeping contently as the sun shined through his window. His brown hair spread out on his pillow while he snuggled in the blankets. He looked like a little kid, enjoying the comfiness of the bed. But soon, he had to get up for school. he slowly opened his eyes and sat up. He yawned and ran his hand through his hair. "Another day of boring high school..." He muttered to himself. He did the usual morning routine - brush his teeth, brush his hair, wash his face, and got dressed for school. Soon, his mother called him. "Vincent, come down for breakfast!" "Coming, mom!" Vincent called back. He went downstairs and saw his mother. "Hey mom." He said. "There you are. Come on, eat up. You're going to be late for school." His mom said. "Yeah, yeah. Same thing every day. What's for breakfast?" Vincent asked. "Cereal." His mother replied. "Um, how long has it had milk in it?" Vincent asked, being cautious. "Since last night." His mother answered. Vincent immediately felt sick. She left out her midnight snack again, did she? He thought. "Um, I think I'll pass. I'll just get something from school." He said. He started to walk to the front door when his mom stopped him. "Wait! Don't forget your lunch." His mother said, handing him a small bag. "Oh, thank you." Vincent said. "Bye mom!" His mother waved to him. "Bye Vince. Have fun at school." She said as she saw her son walk out the door. Vincent waved back as he closed the door. He got on his skateboard and went on his way to school.

Once he got there, he put his skateboard in his locker and got his books out. He saw his friends from the corner of his eye and waved at them. "Hi guys." He said.

"Hey Vincent." Said Mike. The others took notice and waved.

"So, how was your morning?" Anthony asked. "Same thing every day and you know that." Vincent said. "It's true. You should know by now." Kevin said. "Well, I'm sorry! I'm not your guy's brother!" Anthony said as he pouted. "I know. But, you are a big brother to me." Kevin said, petting Anthony's head. "Aww, that's so sweet, dude! Thank you!" Anthony said as he smiled. "You're welcome, Anthony." Kevin said, smiling back.

Vincent's P.O.V.

I chuckled. Kevin and Anthony have been friends for such a long time. You can tell just by their interactions each other.

"So, how was your morning, Kev?" Anthony asked. "Better than the usual. Surprisingly today, my dad didn't spill his coffee all over me again." Kevin replied, his face tensing up. "Ouch... That's gotta hurt." Mike said. "Yep. It's a relief that I'm not getting scalded again." Kevin said. "Oh my god... It's a good thing you're okay, Kev." Anthony said.

Fritz hugged Kevin. Kevin smiled and hugged back. "Yeah. It's a good thing." He said, rubbing Fritz's back in a calming manner.

I sighed. "You're so lucky you have a father." I said. The others looked at me. "What? Having one parent gets boring sometimes." I said. I still remember the day my parents got divorced. It didn't break out into a fight. The whole thing ended pretty calmly, but my mom ended up crying that night.

Scott came over and hugged me and began to rub my back.

I hugged back, burying my face in his chest.

"Shh.... It's okay. It's okay. We're here." He whispered to me.

I sniffled, feeling a few tears in my eyes, but I blinked them away.

He continued to rub my back and whisper comforting words as the others joined the hug.

I couldn't hold in the tears anymore and I let them stream down my face.

"It's okay, Vincent. Everything will be okay." Jeremy said.

I continued to sob, but eventually, I calmed down.

"Feeling better?" Scott asked.

I nodded.

"That's good." He said.

I smiled.

He smiled back and patted my head.

I chuckled, my cheeks turning a light tint of pink. Then, the school bell rang. "Um, we should probablu be getting to class." Mike said.

"Your right." I said. We began to make our way to class as fast as we could.

Eventually, we all made it to class. The rest of the students are there as usual. The only difference is that Mrs. Watson wasn't here. Instead, a young man was sitting at her desk. We figured he could be the substitute and we sat at our usual desks. The second bell rang, signalling the beginning of class. "Good morning, class. I am Mr. Reynolds, your substitute teacher for today." Mr. Reynolds introduced himself. One of the students raised her hand. "Um, where is Mrs. Watson?" She asked. "Well, today, her daughter is getting married, so she took the day off. So, I am your sub, Mr Reynolds." He said.

A substitute, just like we figured. At least Mrs. Watson will be joyful today since her daughter is getting married.

"Doo-do-do-doo. Doo-do-do-doo. Doo-do-do-doo-do-do-doo-do-do-doo."

We all looked at the young kid in the back. He looked back at us. "...What?" He asked.

"Um.. Nothing." Jeremy said quietly.

"Young man in the back!" Mr. Reynolds barked at the kid. The kid looked around. "Me?" He asked. The rest of the students snickered. "Yes. What's your name, son?" Mr. Reynolds asked. "Uh, my name? My name is Max." Max replied. "Well, Max, today's your lucky day. You get to sit up with me in the front." Mr. Reynolds said. Max got up and stomped over to the chair next to Mr. Reynolds desk while the rest of the class laughed. He plopped down on the desk. "There." He mumbled. "Now, with that out of the way, we can begin the lesson now." Mr. Reynolds said.

Since it was the first class in the morning, we were still kinda tired, but we tried to pull through anyway.

After the first few classes, it was time for lunch. The cafeteria was really busy with the kids from different grades eating at their tables. "I've never seen the cafeteria so busy before." I said. "Neither have I. Maybe it's a new thing. Maybe everyone got out of class early." Mike said.

"Maybe. You never know." Said Kevin.

"So, what did you get for lunch, Vince?" Anthony asked. I checked my bag. "Cold tater tots and pineapple juice." I said.

Anthony stared at it, looked at his lunch, and back at mine. "You want some of mine?" He asked.

I looked at Anthony's lunch and nodded. "Sure." I said.

Anthony reached into his bag, pulled out a bag of chips, and handed them to me.

I opened the bag and started to eat the chips. "Thank you." I said.

"You're welcome. We wouldn't want you to starve." He said.

I smiled. Anthony is such a nice person.

Scott handed me a cookie. "For you." He said.

I smiled like a dork and accepted the cookie. "Thank you!" I said.

"You're welcome, Vincent." He said, smiling at me.

I chuckled and ate the cookie.

The others began to eat their lunch.

Toy Bonnie's P.O.V.

I was eating lunch with my friend, just talking about life when my phone started ringing. I took my phone out of my purse and checked my caller ID. "Unknown". But... why? Why was he calling me in school?" "Sorry, guys. I have to take this call." I said to my friends. I went out to the hall, looked around to make sure nobody's watching and answered.

"Hello?"

"Oh, hi. Is there a reason why you're calling while I'm at school?"

"Oh, you want me to do what?"

"N-No, I can't! I'll get suspended or even expelled!"

"What?"

"Are you serious?"

"I can't!"

"50 bucks? Ooh, deal."

I hung up the phone and smiled. This is gonna be good.
